The montum had completely tilted to the human’s favor, with the leakages blocked and most of the zombies inside dealt with.

There were not a lot of casualties left, and the surroundings would be almost safe after a while.

Almost.

In one section, there were still a few more zombies, composed primarily of the zombies from the new leak.

Sid, Jojo, and a few others focused here. Their mana had long been consud so now they focused on using their cold weapons. Fortunately, Khalifa gave them good ones so their weapons were still going strong even after so long.

However, at so point, Sid heard a familiar voice calling his na.

"Brother!!" a woman’s voice yelled. "HELP PLEASE! WUUUU—"

"Suli?" Sid yelled, frozen. He looked around, trying to follow the source of the voice, slashing whatever was in his way. Jojo quickly followed to support him.

"BROTHER!! KYAAAA!" ca another yell and Sid’s steps beca faster.

It wasn’t difficult to trace because the zombies would congregate where the sound ca from.

"Wuuuu—"

The duo dealt with the zombies trying to get to her, and Sid did so as fast as he could lest a zombie would get to her at the last minute.

The mob soon trimd enough to reveal where she was. "Suli!"

The girl was stuck in one of the broken cars there, and there were a lot of cars shed together. There was probably a super-strength zombie that passed by here for so many vehicles to pile up like this so haphazardly.

"Brother…" she whimpered. She had been hiding in a car after so long. At so point, the windows got broken and a few zombies were reaching out to her.

One of the zombies wiggled and happened to squeeze in a bit deeper than others.

"KYAAA!! BROTHER! Wuu…"

"Calm down, Suli!" Sid yelled, swinging the weapon and stabbing the zombie, using much of his strength to pull him back.

Eventually, they cleared enough so they had a clear path to her. He extended his hand through the glass, trying to keep his balance over the side of a vehicle.

"Co here, let guide you."

There was still scuffling sowhere, but they couldn’t tell where and they just hurried up.

Suli sobbed and extended her hand, and she climbed up the window with broken glass.

"Ouch!" she yelled as a piece of glass wounded her but she tried her best to get pulled up by her brother. She froze and feared she’d get the virus but was relieved no other blood was present. However, this short distraction irked Jojo very much.

"Stop spacing out! Let’s go!" Jojo yelled, taking out a zombie that managed to get near them. His eyes twitched when he saw how Suli—whose legs had been wounded by the glass—was not moving.

Sid gestured to carry her, but Jojo’s peripheral vision caught movents right below them!

"Watch out!" he yelled.

Unexpectedly, there was a zombie underneath the car and managed to get out with the scuffle above.

"KYAAA!!" The girl yelled again, going on full panic mode as she saw the zombie closing in on her.

In the end, Suli—who was holding her brother’s hand—unconsciously pulled her brother to her.

And this ended up letting him take the bite, right at the shoulder.

"AHHH!" He yelled just before raising his blade and beheading the damned thing.

"SID!" Jojo yelled, beheading another one, which was probably one of the last in the area.

Suli shook as she looked at her brother who clenched his teeth in pain. She sobbed, but didn’t dare step forward.

"BROTHER! WUUU I’m so sorry! Wuuuuu—"

"SHUT UP!" Jojo yelled, holding on to Sid. He tried to stop the bleeding but he saw that there were black veins coming out from the wound towards his neck and arms.

Jojo’s heart dropped, while Suli scread.

"He… he’s turning!" Suli yelled, imdiately stepping back. "M-My brother! Wuuu— he’s turning!"

Jojo sneered in disgust, eyes tearing up as he held on to his old friend.

"SID! FIGHT IT! SID!" he said, voice cracking, before turning his head to glare at the sobbing woman. "Go get Khalifa! NOW!"

Suli shook and turned to look for Khalifa, but then she saw a few zombies still trying to get up the cars!

"Zombies! "

"SHIT!" Jojo yelled, cursing—over and over.

"Then you go press his wounds!" Jojo yelled and went ahead in hopes of dealing with the few new zombies before heading to look for Khalifa.

"No!" Suli yelled, sobbing, and he couldn’t help but look at her in disbelief.

"You—"

Fortunately, he didn’t have to because a couple of minutes later, Khalifa arrived after hearing so screams.

"What’s going on?!" Khalifa arrived and kneeled next to the man whose skin was turning purple. Her eyes widened and imdiately went to him. She gently placed the back of his head to her legs as she raised her hand over him, using her remaining energy to heal him.

She looked at Jojo. "Get crystals, now!"

"A-Ah yes!"

She looked at Suli. "You too, go get the crystals from the zombies around! Right now!"

The woman paled, but she moved anyway. No matter how scared, this was still her brother after all!

Not to ntion—she felt it: If she didn’t make a move… that woman would kill her!

While the two were away, she imdiately fed the man with so space strawberries and she ate so as well. She ate and swallowed and forced him to do the sa.

She didn’t know if it’d work but sothing happened with Jacob that allowed him to survive! Perhaps, this ti also—

Clack, clack…

She looked aside, looking at Suli who was staring at her and the strawberries that ca out of nowhere.

Khalifa didn’t really care. "Give the crystals!!" she yelled and Suli shakily handed them to her. Soon, Jojo also arrived with many more crystals.

Heaving a deep breath, Khalifa surrounded herself with light, which soon extended to the man resting on her thigh.

But… the virus… wasn’t getting any better. Perhaps it was because it was too close to his heart or that she ca too late.

No, nonono–

She did her best until her energy or her strawberries had run out, but the spread slowed down but did not improve. The black veins had crept to his head and half his face was already twitching—soon to turn.

"It’s okay Khalifa, don’t waste anymore energy," Sid said, his voice raspy and stuttering.

"No, don’t talk," she said, patting her head as she pushed herself beyond her limits. "You need to preserve as much energy—

"Khalifa!" Sid cut her off, gritting his teeth as he stopped an unnatural growl coming out of his mouth. "I am so glad you’re alive. Live well."

"The ti I spent with you—the happiest."

"Don’t let turn into a zombie… please…"

Her eyes widened and she looked at him in disbelief. "No, I can still—"

Sid smiled. If he could, he’d have shaken his head, but he felt he was losing control of his body already.

"No…No more, p-please," he said, eyes eting hers, and Khalifa knew what he wanted—and needed—from the bottom of her heart.

Khalifa’s held back tears finally flowed as she manifested a sharp blade—

Slash!

Finally taking his life.
