Khalifa stood in front of them like the goddess that she was, smiling, before turning to face the zombies that were still climbing up.

With a big wave of her hand, the wall of ice cracked and dismantled, with the frozen zombies cracking as well.

However, there were still a lot of zombies climbing and a few seconds later a line of zombies was approaching them.

The sa pieces of ice turned to horizontal blades and cut them to half, before it turned to a bridge. The n gaped at this and took them a mont to absorb that they were almost safe.

"Let’s go," she said and the four shakily went to an adjacent building using it. It was narrow and needed so balance to go through, but was still wide enough to be safe for humans. For zombies though, this was a different matter.

After all, they just blindly followed where the sll was heading and this ant almost all of them would fall down. Those who chose the correct path wouldn’t be able to safely go through the whole length either.

The ice bridge gave way before any zombies could get through and the two n almost lost their footing as soon as they confird it was safe to let down their guards.

They turned to look at the woman who was watching them with a smile and blushed, imdiately approaching her (even though Jojo was practically crawling there).

The little girl they rescued followed as well, her rounded eyes wide with admiration as she looked at the three adults who rescued her.

"I knew you were alright!" Jojo yelled, while Sid uttered nothing else and just wrapped his hand around Khalifa.

He buried his head on the smooth junction of her neck and shoulders, his body cold and shaking.

Khalifa smiled as she patted the young lad’s back. "We’re here," she said.

"It’s alright now."

And just like that, it felt like everything would be alright.

Similar scenes happened all around the base.

For example, at the area where the earth zombie made an opening, Cauis entered and completely reinforced it, rescuing the many soldiers who had to stay behind.

"Thank you!" The soldiers yelled, regaining montum. Cauis nodded, assisting them, rescuing as many as they could.

In another area, Kylo appeared like a god in the other damaged section of the walls. With his strong electric power, he took down the climbing zombies—throwing them back to the ground.

Similarly, most of those who survived were soldiers and they cried at his arrival. "Major!!"

He nodded, "Focus," he said, "There’s still much to fix."

He then turned to the earth user zombie. Ground was an enemy of electricity, but it wasn’t like the zombie was made of stone.

Besides, he took out a special gun. They had plasma guns and this was obviously the ti to use them. He also handed a few he had to so soldiers he knew were good shots.

"Weapons," was all he said, while the soldiers recognized the weapon and almost worshiped them both.

anwhile, inside the walls, Jacob and the others also helped handle the situation inside. Jacob traversed through the crowd, rescuing dozens if not hundreds of people from direct consumption.

Hugo and the plasma guns naturally helped, and he and the soldiers shot down the zombies. They didn’t have a lot of guns, and they could not miss, fortunately everyone were good shots.

More and more people soon noticed their arrival and how the tides had begun to turn.

"Heroes!"

"Thank you!"

"Not yet done!" Hugo yelled and he happened to see so soldiers who were struggling, so of them with elents—though they weren’t very good at using them yet.

Their bullets had run out and cold weapons could only protect so many, after all. Hugo cursed and went there, taking down a few more zombies with his plasma gun.

"Focus on your breathing!" He yelled, shooting a few more zombies as he said so. "The elents are like blood and they will clog if you can’t control it well!"

The soldiers nodded, summoning their elents. The situation was dire but they were soldiers—they were trained for stressful situations.

With proper guidance, the soldiers indeed managed to use so of their elents—eyes beaming with pride and hope.

One soldier managed to throw rock projectiles in a direction, hitting a zombie. He did it again, and this successfully saved a civilian from getting mauled.

Another one lit up embers and inflad a few zombies clothing, using his remaining bullet to increase the damage exponentially.

Hugo nodded, taking down as many zombies as he could, joining the soldiers in their fight.

Regardless of where it was, everyone looked at their team with eyes flooding in admiration.

Their entry injected unprecedented montum in everyone’s hearts, and suddenly efficiency and strength skyrocketed.

It was not so easy, however, because the enemy was not weak. Let alone their numbers, but also the fact that they had a lot of upgraded zombies to deal with.

Bang, bang, bang

They turned in a direction where the ground seed to shake. Those who knew what it was paled imdiately.

"It’s here! The strong zombie!" They yelled, increasing their pace of running to beyond their limits.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

It got closer and closer, and screams abounded around them.

The terrors of the upgraded zombie were deep—even the montum their arrival created was muted greatly just by the sound of it appearing.

At this, Hugo and Jacob’s eyes t. Hugo put the plasma gun at his back. "Take care of this place," he told the soldiers, who nodded, wishing them good luck, while trying to take down zombies for as long as they could.

And the duo went ahead, arriving just in ti before the monster could grab another man to dismber.

Jacob lunged at it, unafraid. He then jumped at its bent knee, raising his blade to hit its eye.

Squelch!

ROARRR!

At the sa ti, Hugo raised his hand with two sharp tals. He waved his hand in an attempt to pin the monster down.

BANG!

ROARR!

He took advantage of the pause and took out the plasma gun, aiming right at its mouth.

BANG!

He made a disgusted face as so of the zombie brain matter splashed to his pants.

"Well, that’s one supernatural zombie down," Hugo said, looking in a direction with narrowed eyes. Jacob imdiately went forward and blocked an attack, using his own hands to keep the speed zombie’s mouth open.

Hugo sighed, raising his gun to aim at the new zombie. "Several more to go."
