Capítulo 2277: Chapter 2277: Sending Them Off Together
The scream was a bit shrill, but none of the people sitting in the living room moved.
The old lady heard the scream and ca out, urgently saying, “What happened? It seed like my grandson’s voice!”
Xu Huo walked over to support the lady and led her toward the living room, “Ma’am, are you missing your grandson too much?”
“There was a sound just now, didn’t you hear it?” The old lady asked suspiciously.
“No, we didn’t.” Zhu Xiaojin played dumb, feigning sympathy, “You’re really a good grandma, loving your grandson so much. Unfortunately, my grandma passed away when I was little, otherwise, I guess she would have been like you.”
The old lady’s face, distorted by anxiety, gradually cald down, and she smiled, “Yes, there isn’t a grandma who doesn’t love her grandson; as long as he’s well, I’m willing to do anything.”
She eyed Xu Huo and the others through her drooping eyelids, finally fixing her gaze on the Girl in the Painting, “Girl, there aren’t enough rooms in the house. How about you sleep with
tonight?”
The Girl in the Painting was straightforward, raising her communicator with three bold characters, “I refuse.”
The old lady didn’t take offense at her rudeness but seed to despise her inability to speak, “She’s mute, what a pity, so pretty though…”
She turned her gaze to Tang Yu, full of kindness, “Girl, you sleep with
then.”
Tang Yu smiled slightly, “Sure, I’d like to experience what it feels like to be loved by a grandma.”
To express her goodwill, the old lady made them dinner, and after the al, Tang Yu offered to take a look at her grandson’s room. The old lady refused, and after several attempts by Tang Yu to open the door, she simply coaxed her into her own room, explaining to Xu Huo and the others that her grandson didn’t like outsiders coming in, and they should sleep in the other bedroom and the living room.
“No problem.” Xu Huo saw them off.
“It seems like she’s planning to resurrect her grandson.” Zhu Xiaojin said, “Did she bring us here to be substitutes? What’s she doing with Tang Yu?”
“Maybe she’s trying to find a bride for her ghost grandson.” Old Cai chid in, “Older folks can’t get around it.”
Zhu Xiaojin rolled his eyes, “She still has the nerve to look down on Younger Sister Li Chun.”
The Girl in the Painting was uninterested in the old lady; she found the few moving “people” inside the room intriguing and indicated she wanted to take a look.
“Wait a bit.” Xu Huo said, “Even if you cut him, he doesn’t co out; it ans it’s not ti yet. Probably, tonight, they’ll co for us to see what they really want. If they simply want to kill, burning them down is easy.”
The old lady of 603 clearly has a complete story here; prematurely burning the corpse might restart everything, no need for that.
“Even if the whole neighborhood is haunted, it’s nothing new.” Old Cai glanced at the ti, “It’s ten o’clock at night now.”
In the dead of night, with no bird or livestock sounds, heavy footsteps echoed occasionally in the corridor, like soone was sticking close to the walls, walking up and down, even stomping deliberately.
The corridor adjacent to 603, and the house wasn’t soundproof. After about half an hour of this disturbance, Zhu Xiaojin opened the door and yelled into the hallway, “Do you believe I’ll skin and disembowel you? It’s the middle of the night, stop going crazy in the hallway!”
The noise in the hallway disappeared, but simultaneously, an unsettling wind suddenly blew on Zhu Xiaojin’s face.

A semi-transparent Shadow drifted to the doorway, attempting to enter through the crack, but Zhu Xiaojin sneered and slamd the door shut, “Not gonna spoil you!”
Yet a door couldn’t keep out the Shadow outside; its hands reached through the door, about to climb onto Zhu Xiaojin, but suddenly stopped, as if frightened, jerking its hands back.
The footsteps gradually faded away.
“I don’t get it; she’s already a ghost; why make such a racket?” Zhu Xiaojin was sowhat annoyed, “Can’t the dead just rest quietly?”
“I know, I know!” The Girl in the Painting took out her communicator, “This is a horror movie; that’s how horror movies are; once daylight arrives, the protagonist will be safe.”
“We have to wait till daylight?” Zhu Xiaojin rolled up his sleeves, charged into the room with the coffin, and was repulsed by the foul stench before he could act. He escaped to the living room, retching uncontrollably, “Damn! A biochemical weapon!”
Xu Huo covered his mouth, looking toward the bedroom door, where the corpse had reassembled; it stood silently post-mortem, its decaying visage contorted with even more anger and terror.
“Even has ti to stitch himself up.” He observed the crude stitching on the corpse, “Sewn like this, can it walk?”
Whether it could walk was unclear, as the next second, it flew straight at Xu Huo.
Xu Huo rotated on the spot, raising his long leg to strike the stomach, watching the corpse crash into the TV cabinet, nodding affirmatively, “Good foot feel.”
The corpse grew angrier, spewing black-green fus, while Zhu Xiaojin, already wearing a gas mask, rushed over and stuffed two iron balls into its mouth, “Shut up, you stink!”
“Pull its head off.” Xu Huo said, “Let’s see if it still moves.”
“No problem.” Zhu Xiaojin grabbed its head with one hand and pressed its shoulder with the other, deftly pulling the head off.
The snapped stitches brought out so discolored flesh, and the corpse fell to the ground.
“This monster’s stitched parts are almost growing together; its regenerative ability is stronger than the Player’s.” Zhu Xiaojin tossed the head, attempting to bite him, into the fruit platter on the coffee table, “I think we really need to burn it.”
The head in the fruit platter tried to jump; the next mont, Xu Huo stomped on it.
The long-unused lighter appeared in his hand while he looked down at the head, “Chopped up, it can be stitched back together; even with the head off, it still functions. I wonder if mincing will prevent recovery… But mincing is troubleso; better to burn, heard fire counters this kind of rubbish.”
The decomposed face showed fear, and as Xu Huo prepared to light it, the old lady who had been eavesdropping in the room suddenly sprang out, shrieking, “Don’t touch my grandson!”
Tang Yu, who followed, tripped her, pressing a prop against her back to keep her down, “Ma’am, your grandson is still studying overseas. You must be confused, mistaking this thing for your grandson. If your grandson knew, he might be heartbroken!”
“You bitch, let go of ! Or I’ll kill you!” The old lady’s face was acutely bitter and venomous.
Tang Yu shrugged, snapping her neck.
The old lady’s body slumped onto the floor.
The head reacted strongly to the death of its relative, almost escaping in its struggle, while the lights in the room exploded all at once, tearing down the ceiling along with the chandelier, revealing a layer of red talisman papers inside. Subsequently, the head, corpse, and newly deceased old lady all showed signs of reanimation.
“Hmm,” Xu Huo dragged the trio to the center of the living room, “Let’s arrange a cremation for you guys.”
