Chapter 2022: Chapter 2022: Insects

Everyone who saw this scene was stunned. How could such a thing happen with the Alien? Not to ntion ordinary illusions, even with a prop that can bring the dead back to life, under any circumstances, there’s absolutely no way a player would easily commit suicide!

"What’s going on? He didn’t touch a drop of rainwater, even his shoes were changed. If sothing is affecting him, why are we all fine? Could ntal Interference really target specific areas at will?" After the initial shock, the players beca angry instead. They were all Advanced Players, and even if they didn’t understand completely, they had seen related information—when had ntal Interference beco point-to-point? If it were that easy, then wouldn’t detection instrunts be utterly useless?

"What if it’s really possible?" A voice in the corner pondered.

What if it’s really possible?

"In this ssed-up ga, if a ghost suddenly appeared in front of

one day, I wouldn’t be surprised." The High Ponytail shrugged, then put a prop around her neck and chest, "I don’t want to die without knowing why."

The other players also increased their defensive tools sowhat. However, just as they were ready to carry the corpse to the rear carriages, the player blocking the windows quietly approached the veterinarian from behind and transford a short knife in his hand, aiming it at the other’s lower back.

The Defensive Barrier automatically activated, and the veterinarian swiftly turned and kicked him away, "What are you doing!"

The window-blocking player smashed onto the carriage window, dropping a series of Glass Beads in the process. Before anyone could react, these Glass Beads exploded one after another, blowing up the entire tenth carriage. The windows and the material sealing the outside were deford by the blast, but the players dodged promptly and weren’t seriously injured. Surprisingly, the worst victim was the window-blocking player himself; during the explosion, he made no attempt to protect himself, and his clothes and skin were blown off, leaving him lying bloodied in the corner.

The others didn’t approach; they all wanted to see if a person, blown up like this, could still be insane.

But a few seconds later, everyone realized that the person had stopped breathing.

"What kind of Alien is this!" Blonde Hair muttered, scratching his head, "It’s too bizarre, everywhere yet uncatchable!"

Outside, rainwater flowed in through the shattered windows, droplets splattering everywhere, even soaking the corpse.

The players in the tenth carriage prepared to retreat to the eleventh carriage, but as soon as the door opened, they found Xu Huo already standing at the doorway.

He looked considerably better than yesterday, with far less fatigue. He walked past everyone, directly to the blocked-window player, and used a glass tube to collect and preserve the bloodwater flowing from the corpse.

"Is there sothing wrong with the water?" Red Scarf frowned, "But we’ve tested the water on the corpse, and it contains no other substances."

"You checked the water from bodies that died a long ti ago. If the Alien’s body is similar to water, or mostly composed of water, and it changes state over a certain period, ordinary instrunts might not be able to detect it." Xu Huo said, then collected several tubes of water from the dripping ceiling, ensuring each tube wasn’t completely filled.

"This seems like a good approach," White Suit comnted from behind, "If the Alien’s form is indeed close to water and gets scattered by Heavy Rain, then, assuming they reproduce from microscopic individuals, the collected water might increase over ti."

After speaking, he also collected so water for preservation.

The tenth carriage was now destroyed beyond repair, so all remaining players from the tenth, along with a few from the ninth carriage, relocated to the eleventh carriage.

"Quite cramped." The fortune-telling girl player remarked, giving a silent signal for others to move back, but everyone ignored her.

No one competed with Xu Huo for his spot. After he sat down, he carefully observed the water inside the glass tube.

It might have been due to scattered Psychic Power that he hadn’t noticed any issue with the drowned player’s water before. Yet, the spines of the dissected players were damaged, indicating sothing had infiltrated their bodies. Players believed the Alien must be a singular entity, and given the hole on the window, no matter how its size changed, it wouldn’t be small, hence they naturally ignored what they saw before them.

If the so-called Alien is composed of so substance whose state changes with the environnt, then the gradual growth of psychic power can be explained.

The water contained in the glass tube was now in such a state.

The force within the glass tube was noticeably denser than the surrounding area. Just as Xu Huo was about to take a closer look, White Suit’s voice suddenly sounded from the previous carriage, "Found it!"

The players were drawn over, discovering White Suit had used microscopic instrunts to observe changes in the water’s composition, identifying tiny insects mixed in. Although there were many impurities in the water, their ability to reproduce was the strongest. Once an insect expanded, it would quickly split into two, and since most of their bodies were transparent, when they died, they would die en masse. After dying, their organs rapidly lost color and scattered as water overflowed from their bodies.

These tiny insects were constantly breeding and dying, which is why their state always appeared like perpetually not completely clean water.

"Could the giant moving outside the window we saw first be ford by these insects too?" High Ponytail incredulously asked, "They showed just one side then disappeared... reproducing so quickly; could the rain outside be full of these insects?!"

This speculation sounded absurd but sohow held so truth. Otherwise, it couldn’t explain why these insects didn’t regroup, yet targeted people on the train—it fits their behavior pattern.

"Then we’re dood, with a whole day of rain; aren’t the insects everywhere?" Tie man said from behind, "Dumping heaps of insecticide might not even wipe them all out!"

"Might as well set it all ablaze," soone suggested.

Burning was hard to experint; the tracks nearby didn’t have light, and once the train lights up, it might bring new trouble. Previously, no player used lighting props despite rotating out.

The insecticide was worth a try.

Though the insects were too small for the naked eye to catch, replacing protective gear frequently might still not prevent carrying them on oneself. If one isn’t fully exterminated, it might quickly split into more, so everyone collectively changed protective gear again and transferred to the next carriages.

It seed the insecticide had taken effect; within half an hour, even the rain outside diminished.

"The rainwater really was insect-derived," the fortune-telling girl player comnted, peeking outside through a window seam, "It shouldn’t count as Alien right? No information tracked in Beneath the Dinsion about their evolutionary history."

Xu Huo, also by the window, remained silent, frowning: sothing felt amiss. The insecticide had worked, yet he felt a stronger pressure than before.

After a brief hesitation, he opened up his Spiritual World. However, as his spiritual vision broadened, an imnse force suddenly descended from the heavens—the next second, Xu Huo vanished within the ntal Portal!
