When the call ended, Mike fell into a mont of silent contemplation.
Then he looked back at the Tree of Life. Given how far things had progressed, he felt that letting the Elf Ancestor live might be a little rude.
"Please allow a few more words,"
the Elf Ancestor said, standing firm. She knew all too well that, in every sense, she had no remaining right to survive.
In the previous era, as one of the Nine Races' leaders, she had committed grave errors.
Later, just to carry out her own designs, she assisted the Supre Demon God and served as his accomplice.
But if Thor wanted to reclaim the forty-ninth floor of the Tower of Truth, the Elf Ancestor had to die.
Even if she didn't die right now, once she left this floor, the Supre Demon God would trap her and devour her like a snack.
They had put together a plan that, on the surface, seed perfectly calculated. But in reality, holes ran through it left and right, making it impossible to achieve. The crucial point was that the Supre Demon God saw right through them-and he just didn't care.
Sches of this magnitude? The Supre Demon God couldn't be bothered. Even if their plan succeeded beyond all expectation, so what?
Even if the Supre Demon God got tossed into the Heavenly Realm, that realm without its own world source had no way to stop him. He could simply corrupt everything there, make it all part of himself, and then co right on back. There'd be no real difference.
The Supre Demon God's greatest weapon wasn't rank, level, or physical power. It was his ability to corrupt everything and absorb it into his own being.
Unfortunately for him, his opponent was a human Supre Being.
Back in the day, the Supre Demon God had repeatedly tried to tempt Morpheus to join him.
So the one he most wanted to sway now was probably Thor.
But the Supre Demon God ran into an awkward snag:
Thor...still didn't have the complete Supre Mark. And even if he did, Thor would just kill the Supre Demon God instead of accepting any bargain.
The Elf Ancestor spoke sincerely:
"I'm aware of my sins. Even with my death, I can't really pay for them. Still, I hope that after I'm gone, you'll plant the seed of the Tree of Life so the elves might have a sliver of hope..."
She was a holdover from a previous era, never truly accepted by this world.
But if a fresh seed took root and sprouted a new Tree of Life, nurturing a new elf with Supre potential...
Then, and only then, would the elves truly have a future.
Mike had always respected any species' drive to continue. He looked at her and casually asked, "Any last words?"
The Elf Ancestor rely smiled, no longer wishing to speak.
She had survived two lifetis, concocted a thousand sches, and ended up with empty hands.
Right or wrong, success or failure-she'd leave all that for history to judge.
The leaves on the Tree of Life began a furious tremor, each radiating a golden glow.
She was burning her life source. Only in her most extre fighting state could she produce a top-tier seed.
Out of respect, Mike stashed his staff and raised the Thunderclap Hamr.
A bolt of lightning crashed down from the heavens.
Boom-
The Elf Ancestor was dead.
From within the ashes, a golden seed coiled with crackling lightning hovered montarily before drifting into Mike's palm.
At the sa ti, a familiar announcent rang through the Tower of Truth:
"Congratulations to participants... SSSS-level conquer rating of the Tower of Truth, Forty- Ninth Floor."
Thor's na glitched and blurred. The Tower of Truth couldn't properly display it.
At the exact mont he killed the Elf Ancestor, Mike took a small step forward.
This was a small step for Mike, but a giant leap for Thor.
He had officially crossed a boundary, breaking through to Level 990, his power surging once
more.
...
He'd once been only a potential Supre Being who needed to hide in the shadows whenever The ventured into the Abyss.
Now, he was overwhelmingly powerful.
Mike couldn't summon up much emotion about it. Because right when he completed this breakthrough, the Tower of Truth went into chaos again! A flood of demonic energy burst out, veiling the upper half of the Tower of Truth.
Standing outside the Tower, Mike eyed the turbulent scene without an ounce of surprise.
"Figures. That bastard just can't keep quiet for two seconds."
Following a ripple in space, Shadow One appeared beside him on high alert.
Monts later, Maxen arrived as well, eyes fixed on the Supre Abyssal forming before
them.
"Thor, do we need to bail out Apollo?" Maxen asked, tense.
Mike shut his eyes for a second and fell into a dream state. He was so close to the Tower of Truth that his "Wi-Fi signal" was at full strength-perfect for dream communication. Inside that dream, he saw the little boy and a statue resembling Apollo. Satisfied they were safe, he returned to reality.
"All good," Mike said casually.
"I just had a cross-world chat with your Second Godfather. He's real happy with how I've been doing lately. Also ntioned that you've improved a ton yourself."
"Oh, and your Second Godfather says he'll definitely co back within a hundred years, so do what you want with that info."
During Mike and Maxen's conversation, Shadow One visibly relaxed. She understood Thor's mindset: if doom was actually closing in, Thor would be scribbling a final ssage or piling on buffs right now. Considering he was still cracking jokes, the crisis clearly wasn't that dire. No big deal! She even had half a mind to touch up her makeup.
More and more powerful fighters showed up and, under Maxen's guidance, stayed well away from the Tower of Truth, waiting for their chance from a distance.
"It's coming," Mike said.
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a shaft of dark light shot down from the sky with terrifying force. The demonic energy on the hundredth floor instantly multiplied hundreds of
tis over!
It felt like so vile, monstrous entity had just taken up residence inside.
Then the sa thing happened on the ninety-eighth floor, the ninety-seventh floor...
However, on the ninety-ninth floor, the mont so demonic aura appeared, an onslaught
of sword energy from the walls tore it to shreds. That sword energy, after unleashing its power, dimd noticeably.
Before everyone's eyes, one floor after another of the Tower of Truth fell under siege.
The aura rolling out of each floor felt as strong as a demon god.
People exchanged alard, bewildered looks, unsure what on earth was happening.
Only a handful of top-tier fighters at the very front, those who knew the Supre Demon God's thods, had so faint idea of what was really going on.
"This must be...all those powerful beings absorbed by the Supre Demon God back in the day?" Maxen inhaled sharply, his scalp prickling.
"Have we really cornered him so badly?"
The Supre Demon God's heavy-handed move sure made him look desperate. Never in Maxen's wildest dreams did he expect Thor to back the Supre Demon God into such a spot.
Could Supre Demon God actually be on his last legs?!
Maxen's father-Nathan, humanity's first Ultimate Lord-had died in the Supre Abyssal.
According to Maxen's Second Godfather, Maxen was still nowhere near his father's might,
even if he grew ten thousand tis stronger.
Morpheus, Ares, Apollo...
All three of humanity's Supre Beings had battled the Supre Demon God in turn,
And yet the Supre Demon God had readily survived.
Now, at last, he was panicking!
After three hundred years of butting heads with the humans, the mont Thor reached Level
990, the Supre Demon God officially freaked out!
A sense of fierce satisfaction rose in Maxen's heart.
He gave Mike a questioning look, and Mike nodded, confirming his theory.
Indeed, the reality was just as Maxen assud-except harsher.
The Tower of Truth had one hundred floors; the Supre Demon God had seized fifty of
them.
Each floor had been claid by a truly formidable being, not so hollow puppet running only on demon energy and raw level.
And because the Supre Demon God now owned half the tower, those powerhouses essentially held the ho-court advantage, which boosted their powers even further!
Kicking them out would be a trendous ordeal.
Sensing their strength floor by floor,
Maxen said gravely, "So that's five Supre Beings, plus forty-five peak Ultimate Lords?!"
If that firepower was stationed in the Tower of Truth...
That would be downright horrifying!
"No..."
Mike shook his head and gave a wry smirk.
"You misread it. That's forty-nine Supre Beings...and one Supre Demon God."
