He hadn’t exactly cared much about Sky’s sexuality since he had been too busy losing himself in his lust for his roommate.

Chris used to think his gaydar was very accurate, but he had failed before, and even right now, he couldn’t guess if Sky was into boys or girls since Sky hadn’t dropped any hints except how much he flirted with him.

How he always ca closer, the way the tone of his voice dropped sotis, and his intense stares. Not to ntion what happened inside the storage room earlier. But then again, he rembered that during that ga at the pub the other night, his friends had said Sky would flirt with anything, even animals.

So he could not exactly tell, and that frustrated him. He didn’t like how mysterious Sky was. It made him very curious, and he didn’t want to be curious about him. Unless it was physical.

"What are you deeply thinking about?" Rachel asked him after he didn’t answer her question.

"What?" He looked at her. He had been lost for a minute there.

"I asked if you were not going to try to push your interest in him because you think he is not interested in guys?"

"I didn’t co here for that." He said quietly. "I’ll be honest, he is hot."

She quickly nodded in agreent with that.

Sky was also beautiful.

He didn’t say that to her. He had ant it when he told Sky earlier. It had been to tease him, but he had ant it, and he knew that it was going to take a while to recover from that short mont that had passed between them.

"He is... different." He was almost whispering.

"I don’t know how to explain it." He really didn’t know how to.

He hasn’t had the ti to think of other thoughts or dwell on his broken heart since he t him. He couldn’t exactly understand this.

Rachel looked at him closely. As Chris spoke about him, from his tone, his look, and what she had noticed so far, she could only co to one conclusion. Chris liked him more than he cared to admit. But it seed like he was still in the denial stage.

"So... what happened last night? You were avoiding Sato." She asked quietly, matching his tone.

"I’ll be honest with you, Rachel. Because I feel I can trust you." He turned to look at her with gentle eyes, and his words made her smile, and she said, "That is really sweet."

"I realized that Sky thought I was avoiding him last night because he felt I was homophobic and was disgusted by the way he looked."

"Oh!" she exclaid in surprise.

"I think I got used to Sky’s actions towards . He always cared for and made sure I ate sothing. He even took around the other day. I guess I felt he was like that to ."

"To you?" She didn’t catch it.

"To only ."

She caught it this ti.

"Oh..." She seed to realize sothing, and her eyes sparkled, and she exclaid even longer now. "Oh... last night. Ah! I get it."

He was glad he didn’t have to explain it to her because he didn’t want to talk about it anymore.

Back to last night: Gary had shown up out of nowhere.

When Gary told Sky, "It’s been tough getting you to reply to my texts," Chris had been smug about it until he heard the rest of the conversation.

Sky had responded to that, saying, "I’m sorry. I have been quite busy. But you are good, right?"

Chris had remained smug, thinking Sky said he was busy, yet he always texted him.

"Yes. But I wanted to still et you more." Gary said to him, not giving up.

Sky raised a brow at him, and this ti, Chris furrowed his brows to look at the daring boy. Was he openly flirting with Sky?

anwhile, Noel and Henry exchanged amused glances, and it was like they were trying not to laugh.

"To treat you back, I an. Just hang out whenever you are free. You’ve done much for since I resud here. You didn’t only show around, but you knew I liked burgers, so you sent so a couple of tis, and—"

"It’s not serious." Sky cut him off. "I take the welfare of new students seriously. It’s my duty. Besides, everyone loves burgers."

For a few minutes, Chris was frozen. It all ca to him slowly.

Sky showed him around.

Sky bought him a burger.

And he had said, Everyone loves burgers.

He hadn’t been special. He was just a responsibility, like the many other students Sky did it for. It was Sky’s ’duty’.

He wasn’t sure why he had been hurt by it. He hadn’t been expecting anything from him. Besides, he didn’t even exactly like him. But it had deeply hurt him, and that changed his mood.

"I do the sa for this guy right here. He also lives in our dorm. In fact, he is my roommate." Sky draped a hand over his shoulder, but Chris had been too deep in whatever he was thinking and threw his hand off rudely, getting all their attention.

He looked at everyone at the table who was looking at him before he stood up and excused himself to go get so air outside.

"I’m sure that must have sucked," Rachel said, also rembering what had happened.

"It did. But I guess I was just being silly."

"No. You were not." She said it in a serious tone.

"I think you’ve been unconsciously craving it—for soone that would give you their love, and then you fell into it when it did happen."

Chris pondered. Was that correct?

"Just like what you said to —to love myself so I can recognize genuine love when I get it and not mistake other kinds of attention for love." She reminded him of what he had told her only an hour ago.

"I don’t know who hurt you, but you need to let it go so that you do not fall and depend on little attention like that and then hurt yourself later."

He sighed heavily. He had been busy lecturing Rachel when he had his own problems.

"I guess it’s easier said than done." He admitted.

"It is." She agreed with him. "Let’s work on ourselves together?" She offered and tipped her Sprite bottle towards him.

"Let’s do that." He clicked her bottle with his, both sharing a smile.
