The exchange between Sky and Chris replayed several tis in Chris’s head as he returned to where he had initially planned on going. And it was only now that he began to wonder if he had just unconsciously chosen the brother over the sister. He had done that on impulse. But he knew that even if he went back in ti, he would do the sa thing again.
He broke out of his reverie when he saw Rachel outside the door with her phone in hand and a little transparent nylon bag with two bottles of Sprite inside it. It looked like she was about to call him when she looked in his direction and cancelled the call when she saw him.
"Why are you coming from that direction? Did you miss your way?"
She put her phone inside her backpack and took out one Sprite and a straw, which she handed to him.
"I went to the gym." He answered casually and received the drink from her.
"Are you signing up?" Her eyes lit up. It was as though she had thought this was another chance for her to get closer to Sky if she had a friend there.
"No. I... went to see Sky." He avoided her gaze as he sipped his Sprite with the straw.
"Uhum..." she said in a teasing tone while trying to make eye contact.
"Don’t look at like that. It’s boy’s talk."
He said dismissively and led her inside the basketball court. There wasn’t only the girl’s basketball team but also a group of guys on the court, who seed to be playing against the girls as a form of training. There were also a few people in the room who were watching the ga and giving remarks.
As soon as they sat in the back bleachers, they saw Noel, who was part of the guys’ team. He ignored Chris and smiled brightly at Rachel, who waved at him.
They also saw Rain. She looked so beautiful at that mont. She wore the university’s basketball vest and shorts and had her hair in a ponytail. She also wore ankle-length socks and sports shoes that looked easy on her feet as she twirled smoothly with a ball in her hands, causing her ponytail to dangle about.
When their eyes locked one ti, she winked at Chris, reminding him so much of her brother. He tried to shake that thought out of his head before he rembered that he had already decided to let himself feel whatever he was feeling.
Still, it seed quite crazy to him. Even though the longest crush he has had was on a boy, he has always believed he was more inclined towards won than n. But here was a very beautiful and athletic young lady who seed interested in him, yet he could not stop thinking about her brother.
"Sky kinda has my interest." He suddenly confessed aloud to Rachel, who was unfortunately in the middle of sipping her coke.
She choked and coughed a couple of tis, then turned to look at him.
"For real? I thought you said you didn’t when I asked earlier?"
"You asked if I liked him."
"That’s what we’re saying!"
"No. I do not like him. He has my interest."
"Isn’t that like the sa thing?" She asked in confusion.
"It’s different."
"But you’d like to date him?"
"Eww. No!" The thought was appalling.
"What?" She looked lost. What then did he an if he didn’t like Sky and didn’t want to date him?
"Listen... People can have interest in others without liking them."
He sounded like there was more to it, and Rachel’s brain quickly processed what he ant and ca to only one conclusion.
"Oh... you an his body?" She whispered.
He didn’t answer, and that just seed to give her the answer she was looking for.
"No wonder you always looked so frustrated whenever you were around him. It makes sense now."
"I wanted to let you know since you’re interested in him. I didn’t want to keep it from you and then you get angry when you find out like it happens in the movies."
She chuckled. "Do you know how many people in this school who are in love with him and also want to sleep with him? Why would I be angry because one more person, who happens to be my friend, joins the list? Besides, for so reason, Sky doesn’t like , so I don’t have my hopes up either."
"How can you tell that?" He asked her, trying not to let what she said about the number of people who wanted to sleep with Sky bother him.
"Think about it. Sato is nice to everyone. But then he is kind of indifferent toward . I noticed it these past two nights."
"And indifference ans dislike?"
"It ans... ’even though I am kind to everyone, I don’t want to be kind to you because I probably do not like you’."
He could not help the laugh that escaped his lips. "You are not serious about that, are you?"
"Forget about that. Tell about this. When did you suddenly have an ’interest’ in him?" Her tone placed a lot of emphasis on the interest, but he wasn’t in the mood to talk about it. He had already shared more things with her today than he had shared with anyone else who was not Wilson. In fact, the things he had told her today, Wilson didn’t even know.
"I noticed you’ve been kinda down since last night, and even though we had fun today, you still weren’t exactly in a good mood. But after being apart for a few minutes, you’re suddenly so full of good vibes and even telling about this yourself. Be honest with . What happened at the gym? He’s there, right?" She asked him curiously.
There was really nothing much to talk about. "I decided to be honest with myself. I think that was the key." He explained honestly.
"That you have an interest in him?"
"That I have an interest in him." He nodded to that.
"And this interest ans you don’t want to date him or get to know him, but just like... sexually explore him because he is hot?"
She didn’t sound like she was teasing him. She asked out of genuine curiosity, which made it quite easy for him to share his thoughts with her.
"Yes. But I wouldn’t do that."
"Because you don’t think he is interested in guys?" Rachel asked.
