Chapter 89: Magical Theory (3)
"Alright, then it is decided. We’ll do these three Chapters about the fundamentals of the fundamentals, weave them into a single presentation and then pass the assignment with flying colors because we’re all so~ awesome~!"
Anwen let out a bit of a cheer that immediately made Professor Maryanne turn towards us with a ’gentle’ smile, causing the Harekin to immediately drop back into her seat and scratch her cheek as she realized this was still a library.
"Ahem... okay, so I think what we should do is come up with some ideas on what these fundamentals all actually do, where they can be used and the sort of benefits that they provide when honed to certain degrees."
Her voice was lowered now and she wasn’t bouncing around as much thanks to the older librarian still staring at us to make sure we understood, which of course meant that we were all feeling a little... pressured thanks to the Harekin.
Priscilla was half glaring at her while Ishtarnii rolled her eyes, but we moved past it rather quick since the time in this class wasn’t as plentiful as the others; we needed to get this work done fast in class or else we would need to work on it out of class, and considering the sorts of things I was likely going to get up to with Kha’Miero and Lu’Shaki during lunch...
I have no doubt that someone is going to approach me for sex after classes end for the day, and considering it is such a great stress reliever I wouldn’t mind a round or two the moment we finish with the academic hours of our day.
"All of us together right? Starting with the Chapter that’s on what Hubs are and how they benefit magicians immensely?"
My question was met with nods from all four of my group mates, with Jacklyn even speaking up to add "This Chapter alone could be most of our presentation..." before looking away when she noticed everyone was turned towards her.
"It could indeed. Hubs aren’t even just for us magic oriented combatants either; they improve the musculature in the surrounding area as well, though considering who is in this class I don’t know if that is a point I wish to harp on too much..."
The beefy Bullkin crossed her arms and subtly flexed her impressive muscles before looking around, bringing the attention to the severe lack of ’strong’ people in this class; most people here were rather thin, or best case for them they were toned.
"No, I think we include it. That’s one of the downsides for combat focused mages, and if we can stress how important Hubs are to improving overall body strength it would do wonders. Also, it’s beneficial for long term health anyways, and helps flexibility and joint movement a lot."
The Bullkin nodded while Anwen giggled when I mentioned ’flexibility’, what she was thinking of being rather obvious; meanwhile Jacklyn was jotting things down in a notebook she got from somewhere while Priscilla...
Priscilla was glaring at me again, but there was nothing from what I said that she could dissect and use against me, so she just let out a huff before saying "And then there’s the Chapter about spell casting and the mentality that is needed to go into it. Each spell needs purpose, and as the caster you need to be completely certain about the spells purpose."
We all nodded at that before moving to the final Chapter we had chosen, which was all about the benefits of meditation and the internal refinement of mana via constant circulation while meditating.
"That will be harder to physically show without having access to a device that absorbs mana, though even still it would take a few minutes to do that normally. The other two though we can definitely utilize physical displays of what is in the text, so this shouldn’t be that hard."
The Bullkin was making a good point, before Anwen took over and attempted to give us some sort of structure for our presentation going forwards.
"Well, how do we want to go about it? Full on physical displays for what is needed mentally for spell casting and then on the benefits of Hubs to all magicians, before switching over to a more detailed discussion on meditation? Shouldn’t be longer than like... ten minutes, maybe."
Pondering that for a moment, I thought about how long it would take to actually demonstrate these things while also explaining them to people, before wondering just how long we would need to give data we discovered about meditation.
"We definitely should keep it under ten minutes if possible, that way we don’t bore everyone and actually make sure the information is received."
I got nods from everyone on that, and before Priscilla could slide in a snide remark Jacklyn pushed her notebook towards the middle of the table, showing us what she had been writing and putting herself into a bit of a ’predicament’.
She had jotted down a rough outline for the entire presentation, giving each segment three to four minutes each and explaining how we could effectively utilize that time without worrying about dragging it on for too long.
"Using a brick or some other hard material to showcase the strength that the Hubs can give you when utilized correctly... that’s smart. Quick, efficient, doesn’t need more explaining than what you see in front of you. Nice thinking Jacklyn."
The praise from the Bullkin made the Dogkin blush a little, though she was turned towards Priscilla as the Elf said "The spell casting portion will need to be revised though. The spells that require real intent and visualization are definitely not safe for a library, and if we do something without any substance then there isn’t any need for intent."
Jacklyn’s shoulders drooped at that, which made the Elf purse her lips as she stared at her before adding "If anyone is willing to give themselves a small wound we could use healing spells though? Or if anyone has a good grasp on support spells we could attempt to use them as well?
