Chapter 88: Magical Theory (2)

"I understand that such a structure might have you all feeling a little anxious and not at all confident in what that means for your future in this class, but please have some faith in yourselves.

The things that I will be asking you to research and show some form of understanding on are not useless things either; everything we will be going over are theories that will further develop your abilities with anything and everything arcane.

Everything is flexible, so it can be used in more than just spell casting going forwards. Those of you in Enchanting, Alchemy, Arcane Botany and Agriculture, Monsterology and so many other classes will find everything we discuss here to be of immense help in your academic futures."

When she got to our table she put down the book and gave me a soft smile before moving on, making my heart flutter a little as I watched her walk away; part of me was feeling fuzzy because of something as simple as a smile while some of me was worried people might have caught that and start spreading rumors.

Thankfully no one at our table seemed to think much of it so I could just move on without much worry whatsoever, and after she finished putting the books down our Professor returned to her podium in the middle, nodding to herself and beginning to speak once more.

"What I just laid down before all of you is a copy of ’Reicharda’s Fundamentals of Magic’, and our goal for the next two, maybe three classes is to pore over the entire book and discuss everything we find.

I know most - if not all of you - have already grasped most of the fundamentals and are looking to continue your growth via the more intermediate theories and practices, but I simply wish to understand more about my students and how I can best help you.

Also, I doubt I need to say this to you all, but constantly honing and improving on your fundamentals will make learning those intermediate things all the easier, which in turns saves you time, effort, and gives you more confidence once you start tackling the more advanced theories of magic."

I shifted my attention towards the singular book that was placed at our table of five, wondering what she was going to have us do with just the one book, though she answered that question immediately.

"Now, for today, tomorrow and potentially the day after, I want you to remain in these groups that you have chosen for yourselves and I want you to pick out three Chapters to research. Afterwards you will begin studying said Chapters before presenting it to the class in whichever way you find the be the most efficient and proficient way possible.

It would obviously be best if the Chapters were related to one another, however if you decide to you can pick three completely different Chapters and work on them in smaller groups, however I will be looking for cohesion in your current groups for your presentation."

Being told that we were going to be immediately thrust into a presentation was definitely not something that made me completely happy, yet at the same time it was definitely one of those things that would get the creative juices flowing because I did not want to start the year with a bad academic performance.

My ’group’ was showing a varying level of excitement at the task we were being handed; Anwen was obviously the most excited, Priscilla seemed to be intrigued yet also not happy with who she was going to have to work with, Ishtarnii was indifferent and the shy Jacklyn seemed just a little... distraught at this group project.

I wasn’t terribly excited by this either, but at the same time socializing with people without having the entire thing devolve into someone getting their cock serviced was definitely going to be refreshing, though whether that would actually be the case with Anwen here was completely unknown to me.

She was a wild card through and through, and on top of that Ishtarnii didn’t really hold back either when it came to her sexual needs being met, so they tended to ’feed’ off of one another and create a loop of constant lust that was practically required to be met.

Anyways, the book wasn’t particularly thick, nor did it seem like it would have a plethora of difficult things to comprehend in it, so this shouldn’t be terribly hard - material wise - for any of us at this table since we were here, at the Academy.

The actual challenge of this was from our group and nothing more, which was most certainly done on purpose by Professor Maryanne since she had this little smile on her face that was practically overflowing with mischief.

Some groups were filled with those who had stumbled on in last minute, others had prodigies that were well known across the realms, and others were just haphazardly grouped together based on available seating, preferences and blind hope.

"You may begin whenever, and if you have a question please feel free to answer. I’ll be around as well to check in with everyone and get to know you all better, so I shan’t be far~! Good luck everyone~!"

With that she set us off into our first proper bit of classwork so far, and it was somewhat surprising since there was that belief that the first day or two would be spent doing little to no work at all... which we were obviously wrong about.

The moment that she finished speaking all of the groups turned towards the book and stared at it for a few moments, uncertain of how to begin or who would take charge... only for each group to have someone step up immediately after that momentary pause.

For us it was unsurprisingly Anwen, who slid the book over to herself, flipped it open, and promptly asked "We could divide it if you all wish? Though the issue is we have an uneven number of people here, so...
