「In the office.」

Ruan Tang was looking at the contract in front of her, her delicate brows furrowed in thought. "We can’t take this contract. The quote is too low."

She drew a large cross over the docunt and then turned to what must have been the umpteenth contract of the day, a headache beginning to form.

"Have so juice to relax."

A familiar voice spoke, and a glass of creamy white juice was placed in front of her. Ruan Tang looked up to see Xu Lai standing behind her.

She was slightly startled. A mix of emotion and anxiety filled her heart. "Wait, when did you get here!"

Hmm? Sothing’s not right. Why is my wife so nervous? Has she been up to sothing secretly? Xu Lai raised an eyebrow.

He deliberately put on a serious face. "I’ve been here for a while. I saw everything."

Ruan Tang’s expression was complicated. "Honey... listen to my explanation."

"I’m not listening, I’m not listening, I’m not listening."

"..."

Annoyed, Ruan Tang pinched the flesh on Xu Lai’s waist. "Talk normally. I was just getting you a birthday gift, that’s all. Even if you don’t like it, there’s no need to sulk."

"A birthday gift?"

This ti, it was Xu Lai’s turn to be stunned. Since the fall of the Sect Gate, he had gone nearly one hundred thousand years without celebrating a birthday. He had long forgotten the date of his own birth.

Ruan Tang’s beautiful eyes sparkled. When she saw Xu Lai’s astonished reaction, she instantly understood everything.

"You were lying to ," Ruan Tang stated, staring at him. "You just got here."

"My wife is truly the smartest fairy in the world."

Xu Lai tried to change the subject. "By the way, what should we have for dinner? How about I make you so braised pork ribs? Yiyi loves at."

"Xu Lai!"

Ruan Tang glared, her beautiful eyes wide.

Her voice was so loud that the employees in the office area outside exchanged bewildered glances. The boss was actually yelling at the ’boss’s wife’.

Heavens! They had just gotten married. How could a newlywed couple, who should be in their honeymoon phase, be arguing already?

...

「In the office.」

The atmosphere was incredibly strange.

A guilt-ridden Xu Lai said nothing. Ruan Tang was also silent, her calm gaze fixed on him.

Her stare was as sharp as a knife, making Xu Lai, who was in the Emperor Realm, break out in goosebumps.

One second.

Thirty seconds.

A minute.

Three full minutes passed.

Xu Lai finally broke. "Honey, I was wrong," he said, steeling himself. "I’ll never lie to you again."

"Do you know what your Senior Sister told a couple of days ago?" Ruan Tang didn’t bla him, instead speaking her mind. "She took my hand and told that her little junior brother, Qingfeng, has been stubborn since he was a child, and that I should be more patient with him."

"She said her father found you in a field of snow. Since he didn’t know your birthday, he chose the day the winter snow lted as your birthdate. He made you a bowl of longevity noodles, hoping you would live a long and healthy life."

Ruan Tang looked straight into his eyes. "The winter snow has lted, and I wanted to give you a birthday surprise, just like the surprises you always give ."

"..."

Xu Lai felt a lump form in his throat. He pulled Ruan Tang into a tight hug, unable to find any words.

"I’m not angry that you lied to ," Ruan Tang said with a hint of regret. "I’m just sad the surprise is ruined."

"The surprise isn’t ruined," Xu Lai said softly. "I still don’t know what it is, and I’m very much looking forward to my wife’s birthday gift!"

"Really?"

"Really," Xu Lai said. "Thank you, honey."

"There’s no need for ’thank you’ between us. Let be your spring breeze and lt the endless ice in your heart, okay?" Ruan Tang leaned against his chest, her own heartbeat quickening. Her voice was gentle, yet incredibly firm.

"You are the spring breeze, and you are also Ruan Tang, my lawfully wedded wife."

They held each other in a long embrace, the only sound being their beating hearts.

The touching mont didn’t last long, however.

Ruan Tang suddenly furrowed her brow. "’Lawfully wedded wife’... Does that an you also have wives you’ve married in secret?"

"Don’t tease ," Xu Lai said helplessly. "I was having a mont here."

Ruan Tang’s lips curved into a smile. "Go have your mont on the sofa. I need to get back to these contracts."

"How much longer will you be?" Xu Lai asked, calculating the ti. "I was planning to take you for a walk, do so shopping, and then we could take a bath together when we get ho."

"Let’s go. I’m done. We can go shopping first."

"..." Xu Lai was speechless.

Ruan Tang picked up her handbag and opened the office door, only for a group of won to tumble inside. They had clearly been eavesdropping.

Their expressions changed in an instant.

"President Ruan, I have a new design pattern for you to look over!" one said quickly.

"President Ruan, I just landed a client! We’re about to sign the contract, I ca to report!" said another.

"President Ruan, I... I have a stomachache. I was just passing by."

"..."

Ruan Tang glanced at them, not angry in the slightest. She simply said in a level voice, "Very good. Leave the contracts and designs on my desk. I’ll check them tomorrow."

"!!!"

A collective howl of dismay rose from the won. Their eyes desperately darted to the ’boss’s wife’, Xu Lai, pleading for help.

Xu Lai shrugged, indicating he was powerless to help. Instantly, the won’s gazes were filled with profound grievance.

"Xiao Liu, you handle the contract audit. Ask my secretary for the bottom-line price," Ruan Tang said, turning to Liu Wan, who was working diligently in the main office area. With that, she took Xu Lai’s arm, and they walked toward the elevator.

DING!

As the elevator doors closed, the employees looked at one another.

They’re being so affectionate. So, did they have a fight or not?

...

There was a mall and a pedestrian street near Above the White Clouds, so they decided to walk instead of drive.

On the afternoon streets of East Sea City, the crowds were so thick it was nearly a sea of people. Xu Lai carried Ruan Tang’s bag as they walked hand-in-hand, chatting and browsing.

"Honey, should we go on a honeymoon? The Immortal Domain has countless beautiful places that are perfect for couples."

"Have you been to all of them?"

"Uh..." Xu Lai was about to say yes, but he sensed it was a loaded question. After a long pause, he said, "No."

Ruan Tang gave him a look that was not quite a smile. "Mr. Xu, you did say you wouldn’t lie to again."

"...I’ve been to so of them."

"Mhm." Ruan Tang nodded, not pressing him about who he had gone with. She swept a loose strand of hair behind her ear with one hand and said, "A honeymoon sounds good. We’ll bring Yiyi."

"Great!" Xu Lai made a ntal note of it.

In the shopping mall, Ruan Tang didn’t buy much for herself but had a wonderful ti making Xu Lai try on clothes.

She squinted, a grin spreading across her face. "Xu Lai, how are you so handso?"

Xu Lai was taken aback. It was the first ti he had heard Ruan Tang praise him so directly. He couldn’t help but reply, "Everything sounds sweeter coming from a fairy."

"..."

The single salesgirl felt tears welling up in her eyes. It was only her first day, and she was already being overwheld by such a massive public display of affection.

But Ruan Tang’s next words made her feel that this public display of affection was actually quite delicious. She could take ten more servings of it!

Ruan Tang said, "Miss, please wrap up this entire row for . And that row over there, too."

What a generous fairy! The salesgirl nodded enthusiastically.

A few monts later, Xu Lai snapped his fingers, and all the packaged clothes vanished into his Storage Space. They left, leaving the salesgirl staring after them, completely stupefied.
