Yu Shengjing spoke with a self-righteous gravity, his posture screaming, ’I’m only saying this because I think so highly of you.’
The veins on Tan Chang’s forehead bulged with anger.
Xu Lai was a great power of the Human Race who could summon the Dragon Vein with a wave of his hand. If such a supre being went to the Moon, the consequences would be unimaginable.
So Tan Chang hurriedly said, "Senior Xu, you must not be deceived by this wretched old man’s words!"
Xu Lai looked at Tan Chang as if he were an idiot.
Tan Chang smiled awkwardly. "You’re right. A figure like Senior Xu wouldn’t be swayed by a few words from this old fool."
"Since that’s the case, I have no choice but to send you on your way," Yu Shengjing said, shaking his head with a sigh, his voice filled with intense confidence.
Xu Lai’s expression was strange. The man seed unaware that he had once annihilated the Lower Crescent of the Moon Clan, even capturing Upper Crescent leader Shang Sikong and his son Shang Er. He also seed clueless about the affair with Ji Wuming, the Moon Clan’s intelligence chief.
Indeed, that was the case. Yu Shengjing knew nothing about Xu Lai; he had only received an order from the Saint of the Moon Sect to co to Hua Country and kill him. He had been given no other details whatsoever.
If he had known, he never would have co here, even as a fervent disciple of the Moon Sect. It would be no different from courting death. After all, he still wanted to live to see the day the Moon Sect descended upon Earth!
"Which Saint of the Moon Sect are you referring to?" Tan Chang asked, trying to extract so intelligence.
The Moon Clan having followers on Earth—and likely quite a few of them—was a serious matter. If he could learn more, he might be able to capture all of these traitors at once.
"And you think you are worthy of knowing?" Yu Shengjing’s eyes filled with contempt. "A re Eighth Grade Martial Ancestor like you is nothing but an ant!"
Tan Chang didn’t get angry. Instead, he quickly regained his composure and curled his lip. "You’re probably just a minor lackey who knows nothing, aren’t you?"
"Trying to provoke ?" Yu Shengjing sneered. "I studied in Hua Country for ten years in my youth. Reverse psychology doesn’t work on ; I’m not that foolish."
Tan Chang let out a light sigh, sowhat disappointed.
"However, since you two will soon be dead, revealing a little wouldn’t hurt."
Yu Shengjing was suprely confident, his eyes filled with fanaticism and adoration. "The Saint of the Moon Sect possesses the power to destroy heaven and earth! She is an Immortal who controls the very survival of all races!"
Immortal! The word was incredibly heavy, a weight that few could bear.
Xu Lai narrowed his eyes. Even he wouldn’t dare call himself an Immortal. What mber of the Moon Clan was so audacious as to claim that title for themselves?
"So, Xu Lai," Yu Shengjing declared proudly, "if you know what’s good for you, join in following the Saint. When she descends upon Earth, we will both be lauded as great heroes! We could even be granted fiefdoms and rule as kings!"
"Great heroes?" Tan Chang scoffed. "Isn’t that just another word for traitor? You’re really good at flattering yourselves."
"Traitor or hero, that is for future generations to decide," Yu Shengjing said calmly, not at all angered. "But history is written by the victors. When the Saint descends, I *will* be a hero!"
His words were logical and well-reasoned. Xu Lai couldn’t help but applaud him. "Mm, well said."
"You’re willing to forsake the darkness for the light?" Yu Shengjing was pleasantly surprised. Although the Saint had ordered him to kill Xu Lai, getting this ’lost soul’ to see the error of his ways would also count as a great service.
"You’re overthinking things," Xu Lai said with admiration. "I just think it’s amazing that you can say sothing like that."
His gaze was one of pure satisfaction, like that of a parent watching their two-year-old learn to add and subtract.
"You’re humiliating !" Yu Shengjing grew furious. "You refused to do this the easy way, so now we do it the hard way. Since you want to die, don’t bla for what cos next!"
BOOM!
A terrifying pressure suddenly radiated outwards. The Spiritual Energy within Yu Shengjing’s body transford into a gigantic sword. This sword of Spiritual Energy was a hundred zhang long and imnsely thick.
It lay across the sky like a colossal mountain!
