“Hello, sir. Can I assu you’re the one we’re building the mansion for?”

“That’s correct.”

“Good. All you need to do is tell us what you want, and we’ll take care of the rest.”

Since this was on the edge of the village, my new plot of land was quite large. Many other parts of the village were empty, ready for any new arrivals. Bunnies and bunnies’ families did indeed join from ti to ti, when Geola successfully managed to raid an enslaved village in Taifau or Makji.

Since this was part of my reward for helping resolve the Roklera virus, everything would be paid by the city hall. There was no need for

to think conservatively.

For the next few minutes, I explained my plans for the large villa. My only restraints were the size of the land, the need to consider cleaning and maintenance in the long term, and letting it fit with the rest of the village. Still, I could always hire people to help with the cleaning, so the land’s size was the only real limit.

The workers were also happy with my demands since the more I asked for, the more money they would earn. They even started to give

suggestions, and the grand design for the house soon beca reality.

“Understood. Please leave it to us!”

“Do you have any idea of how long it would take?”

“Three weeks, at most.”

“I got it. Good luck with the construction.”

“You won’t be disappointed.”

By the ti I was done, Kuini was the only one left next to . Waja was still chatting with other bunnies on the side while the two boys were playing a bit further away, not in a hurry to go to the fields and work.

“Sorry for the wait, Kuini.”

“It’s fine, my Lord. Are you going to get the crops now?”

“Yes, but… Do you know who’s living next door?”

I pointed at the small house, and she frowned again, not imdiately answering.

“Kuini?”

“…My friend is living there.”

“Ah, the one you told

about. I rember. Good timing! Let’s go and greet her. She’ll be my neighbor from now on.”

I turned around to leave, but she grabbed my clothes.

“Please wait, my Lord. You don’t need to do that. There’s nothing interesting about that woman.”

“Didn’t you tell

you made up with her a long ti ago? Are you still angry with her?”

She shook her head.

“I’m not.”

“So, what’s the problem?”

“She’s… Ugh… She’s just a silly bunny…”

“It’s not like I can avoid her forever. Her house is right next to mine.”

“I know that…”

“Isn’t it better if we go together than if I et her alone?”

“Uh… Fine. Let’s go.”

She sighed, looking like she truly didn’t want to co. Still, she took the lead, and a few monts later, she was knocking on the door. A voice soon ca from inside.

“Yes?”

As soon as I heard it, I recognized it. How could I not? It was the voice of the bunny who took over Kuini the first two tis we had relief ti together. What a weird situation. To think the woman whom I believed to be a random bunny was Kuini’s friend. Or maybe it made sense. She might have been watching over her, worried about her first shared relief tis.

“It’s .”

Kuini didn’t even bother naming herself, and the door opened soon after. A bunny wearing a half mask ca into our view, the other half smiling gently toward us. I had seen her around the village a few tis, hence why her voice was slightly familiar the first ti we had “t”, though I hadn’t been able to put a face on it. As far as I knew, she didn’t mingle with other bunnies too much.

“Kuini and Tila. What can I do for you?”

She acted as if nothing had ever happened between us, which was, in a way, not wrong. Relief ti was just sothing normal that occurred several tis a day and didn’t imply any sort of relationship between people.

Kuini bit her lips.

“Well…”

Seeing her hesitate, I took over.

“Hello. You’re Liv, right? I’ve heard a lot about you from Kuini.”

The woman gave a clear laugh.

“Haha, nothing good, I guess? We’re good friends, but Kuini is a bit stubborn.”

Kuini pointed a finger at her.

“I’m not stubborn! You’re the one who’s… Uhh…”

Liv grinned even more.

“I’m what?”

“Ugh… That’s why I didn’t want to et with you.”

“You’re making

sad. I’m always happy to see you, Kuini.”

There was a small break in the exchange, so I inserted myself into the discussion.

“It’s great to see you two getting along so well. I was worried Kuini didn’t have any good friends.”

“You don’t need to worry about that. We have a lot in common. We’ve been friends for years now.”

Kuini didn’t deny it. I moved the conversation forward.

“I’m glad. We just ca to say hello today. I’m sure you’ve seen the workers outside. They’re building a house for

there.”

She clapped her hands, looking genuinely happy about it.

“So that’s the story behind all the commotion! What good news! Oh my, look at us, staying in the doorway. Why don’t you co inside? I’ve got snacks.”

“With pleasure.”

Kuini didn’t seem so happy about it, but she didn’t protest. We all entered the house, and I imdiately noticed the bookshelves full of books.

“Oh, wow! I’ve never seen anyone owning so many books. What a collection. Wasn’t it very expensive to buy them?”

“It was.”

She told us to sit on the chairs and sofa in the living room while she went to fetch so snacks from the kitchen. When she ca back with the goods, she continued.

“I wish I were earning more to be able to buy even more of them.”

“What’s your secret? How did you manage to earn enough to buy all of this?”

“My secret is… that I’m cheating a little bit!”
