As night fell, the traffic on the road beca congested as well. Cars lined up in a long queue, headlights on, presenting a magnificent view from afar.

A black Bentley moved forward among them, stuck in the middle of the jam.

The driver looked at the blocked route and then at the person in the rearview mirror, saying, "President Vaughn, this part of the road is a bit congested, it might take a while."

Poe Vaughn was reviewing so docunts, maintaining a calm atmosphere in the car.

Upon hearing the driver’s words, his expression remained unchanged as he flipped through the docunts. "How long will it be blocked?"

The driver checked the ti and said, "Approximately twenty minutes as of now."

Poe Vaughn’s eyes moved slightly, and he looked up.

The night had swallowed the daylight. As ti passed, the streetlights ca on, yet the sky wasn’t completely dark, with so residual daylight lingering, making the night not very deep.

He raised his wrist to check his watch and then said, "No rush."

The driver paused for a rare mont, looked at him, only to see Poe Vaughn lower his eyes again, continuing to peruse the docunts.

Really, no rush?

The car crept forward slowly amidst the stop-and-go traffic, ti passing silently.

And just then, Poe Vaughn’s phone rang.

He paused slightly with his fingertip but didn’t pick up imdiately. After finishing the docunt and just as the call was about to disconnect, he picked up the phone.

Ava Sterling.

This na flickered on the screen, seemingly indicating her impatience.

He swiped to answer, "Hello."

Ava Sterling had been waiting so long, she was almost ready to give up when he finally picked up.

Upon hearing this deep voice, Ava’s heart skipped a beat, she promptly asked, "Are you done with work?"

Poe Vaughn looked out the window; the sky had beco notably darker since just a mont before, and the streetlights were growing brighter.

"On the road."

Ah...

On the road already...

The impatience in Ava’s heart vanished instantly, a smile appearing at the corner of her mouth, "So when will you get here?"

The traffic flow remained slow, leisurely moving forward like a moon-watching dragon, neither fast nor slow.

Poe Vaughn said, "Traffic jam."

Ava Sterling: "..."

Ava’s smile faltered imdiately.

Traffic jam?

Now?

She looked outside the window; indeed, it was the ti of dense nightfall, and the number of cars was abundant at such a ti.

Ava frowned, "How much longer do you think you’ll be?"

"Uncertain."

Always responding with one word, two words, three words, Ava rolled her eyes, truly the epito of reserve.

"Take your ti, no rush at all."

She was about to hang up the call, but just as her finger was about to touch the disconnect button, sothing quickly flashed through her mind, she retrieved the phone and asked, "Have you eaten?"

It was an impulsive thought, so she asked imdiately.

And the call hadn’t been disconnected, he was still listening.

His usual rapid speech ca from the phone, devoid of extra sentint, yet for Ava, her asking that question already indicated she cared.

Perhaps this care was minuscule, but it was still there.

And this concern, she probably hadn’t even noticed it herself.

Poe Vaughn’s eyes deepened, "No."

Ava instantly wore a helpless expression, "Skipping als again, aren’t you afraid of getting a stomachache?"

"Alright, alright, I’ll order food, you can eat when you arrive."

After hanging up, Ava slickly told the caretaker, "Order dinner, what dishes are available to order over there? Let choose."

The caretaker said, "I have the restaurant’s phone number, how about you talk to them directly."

"Sure, you call them, and I’ll talk to them."

"Okay."

The caretaker quickly made the call, and shortly passed the phone to Ava. She ordered so light, easily digestible yet nutritious dishes and finalized the order in a few monts.

She checked the ti; she didn’t know where he was stuck or when he would arrive, but to ensure he had a hot al, Ava directly instructed them to prepare the food to be delivered in an insulated container.

This way it wouldn’t get cold.

Cold food harms the stomach, not an option.

After hanging up, Ava sent a ssage to him, and soon a ssage arrived on Poe Vaughn’s phone.
