The night was cold...

The stars barely shone through the heavy clouds as the black SUV pulled to a stop on a narrow dirt road deep in the outskirts of Cloudbridge City. There was no sign of civilization for miles... Just trees, an abandoned riverbank, and the chilling silence of the wilderness.

Royce stepped out of the vehicle, adjusting his dark leather gloves as the wind swept through his slick hair. His sharp eyes glinted under the moonlight as he stared at the trembling figures kneeling before him.

Two n and a woman, all tied, blindfolds pulled off so they could witness what was about to happen.

The three of them were mbers of the petty group he’d hired to carry out the blackmailing campaign against Monarch Café... The lie about the coffee containing cocaine, an accusation ant to cripple Jayden’s rising business.

But it didn’t work.

Not only had the plan failed, but the scandal had been debunked almost instantly, making him look like a fool behind the scenes. It had made Jayden look even stronger.

And Royce hated nothing more than failure.

The woman sobbed uncontrollably, her face sared with tears and dirt. The two n kept their heads low, sweat pouring down their faces despite the cold air.

Royce slowly walked before them, his polished shoes crunching the gravel beneath him.

"You were given a simple task," his voice was calm, almost gentle, but carried an undertone that sent shivers down their spines. "Simple instructions. Spread the rumor, cause panic, create a wave of dia pressure."

He stopped, crouching slightly to et the woman’s terrified eyes.

"But instead... what happened?" he whispered, smiling faintly. "Not only were you caught, but your faces were plastered all over the city’s surveillance feeds. And now? You’re liabilities..."

"P-Please, Mr. Royce," one of the n stuttered, his voice cracking. "We did exactly as you planned... but—"

"But?" Royce cut him off, his smile disappearing. "There should’ve been no ’but.’ You were sloppy. You were bad at the job. You couldn’t pull a great strategy on it. You got caught."

He stood up, his hands clasped behind his back, breathing in the crisp air as if to calm himself.

"You see..." Royce continued, "in this ga we’re playing, mistakes are luxuries I can’t afford. You were supposed to hit him quietly with no ss. And now, thanks to your foolishness, Jayden Cole gains sympathy points from the public, and Monarch Café looks cleaner than ever."

Royce clenched his fist. One could clearly tell he was boiling within.

The second man, shaking uncontrollably, desperately tried to intervene. "We... We can fix it! Please... give us another chance..."

"You had your chance," he quickly interrupted.

His voice was dead cold now.

Royce turned to one of his bodyguards standing nearby, a burly man in a black suit, holding a silenced pistol.

"Do it."

Before they could even scream...

Thpft.

Thpft.

Thpft!

Three muffled shots rang out into the silence of the night.

The two n slumped instantly, lifeless. The woman let out one final shriek before the third shot silenced her forever. The bodies fell into the dirt, their blood soaking the ground beneath them.

The bodyguard calmly lowered the weapon, awaiting further instruction as his eyes sharpened, a reaction to what he had just done.

Royce took a few steps toward the river, staring at the gentle flow of dark.

Without looking back, he spoke in an almost reflective tone, heaving a deep sigh.

"Dispose of them."

"Yes, sir," the bodyguard responded quickly and made his move.

As the bodyguards dragged the corpses toward the river’s edge, Royce spent the mont giving thought.

It wasn’t the first ti he was sponsoring people’s deaths, but it was indeed the first ti since the growing war with Jayden and his associates began.

But he was calm, a smile crossing his lips.

He was safe... As the son of Gregory Kingsley, he could do whatever he wanted to commoners like these three people who just lost their lives.

"This ga was supposed to be clean, Jayden..." he muttered to himself, voice barely above a whisper. "But I guess this war will involve violence after all."

Without another word, Royce grabbed the pistol the bodyguard dropped before going on to dispose of the corpses and tossed it into the river.

He then turned and entered the SUV, dark glints splashing on his eyeballs.

Thus, it was the beginning of war.

(NorthVille. Capital City of Nortasia)

VIREX Headquarters.

A young man with pale skin and short ssy hair clad in a brown suit ran through the alley, his glasses shifting repeatedly due to the effect of his rough rush.

Carlos just couldn’t wait to notify the manager of the VIREX Coin buyers’ stats in the list.

He was totally dumfounded, wondering how massive a single man’s wealth would be in a few days.

The mont he stord into the office, he spotted his boss... What he saw...

Well, it wasn’t as if he wasn’t expecting what he saw, since he already knew that the Chairman and his secretary were having romantic affairs.

Carlos shot the secretary a cold glance, which clearly ordered her to leave the office at once.

"What is it, Carlos?" Nate asked, his eyes clearly showing he wasn’t happy with the interruption.

"The value went incredibly high today, boss, due to crazy demand. A coin is now worth $200,000!" Carlos shouted, his tone filled with intense amazent.

"WHOA. That’s great!" Nate lost his bad mood at once, his eyes widening.

"But guess what, boss... There is this buyer who bought four hundred thousand coins. I can’t imagine how rich he’s gonna get!" Carlos stated, his eyes sharp.

"What? Four hundred thousand?!" Nate’s eyes widened.

"I’m not joking around... I’m completely certain, boss. Here," Carlos quickly forwarded his tablet and showed Nate the list.

There were up to five thousand buyers on the list, but the top ten buyers were bolder.

Even the second on the list only bought 5,000 VIREX Coins, and then there was Jayden Cole, who bought a whopping amount of four hundred thousand coins!!!

"OH MY CRAZY!!!" Nate’s mouth widened agape as he stared at the na. "We need to contact him, we really need to...!"

The shouts were mixed with shock and intense amazent.

They were just literally looking at the VIREX Trading account of one of the future richest n in the entire world!
