"Who are you?" Rain asked when he approached the throne. "You aren't one of those who built this place."
Only silence was the answer that Rain received… and before long, the ground began to glow and tremble again. It seed that the guy who wasn't much of a chatterbox.
"You should know that this is a waste of ti," Rain said. "You are trying to asure my strength and find my weak points before you fight . You should try to use your head a bit more."
Once again, Rain heard nothing, and then he clicked his tongue and jumped backward. Erging from the depths of the castle, a new enemy took form, a being of pure shadows that bore an uncanny resemblance to Rain himself. It was a doppelganger.
A doppelganger is a creature or being in mythology and folklore that has the ability to take on the appearance of soone else. In many stories, doppelgangers are seen as ons of bad luck or even as malevolent entities. They can mimic the physical appearance, mannerisms, and sotis even mories of the person they imitate.
As Rain faced this replica of himself, he couldn't help but wonder about the king's intentions. It seed the ruler of this domain was studying each challenger individually, tailoring the challenges to their strengths and weaknesses.
The ergence of the doppelganger hinted at the king's ticulous observation of those within the castle, raising questions about whether this was a part of the king's true responsibilities or rely a pasti born out of boredom.
Regardless, Rain steeled himself for the encounter, ready to confront the shadowy mimicry that stood before him, mirroring his every move with an unsettling precision.
The doppelganger soon assud a fighting stance similar to Rain, and then both of them charged at the sa ti, mimicking each other's attacks… When their fists collided, a small blast of wind echoed in the room as they mimicked their expressions of effort.
"Well, I already learned enough," Rain said. "This guy is terrible at hiding secrets."
In the next mont, the doppelganger was split in two… and the king opened his eyes widely in shock… the doppelganger didn't have even the ti to react to Rain's short window of ti where he summoned his domain and then grabbed the ominous sword.
"Eww… returning to not existing is annoying," Elisabetha said.
The Diligence path leveled up.
The Diligence path leveled up.
The Diligence path leveled up.
…
The diligence path reached the max level.
Since Rain was using the paths system again, he received the experience of the three last battles. It was weird why he gained experience on that system but not on the class system, but that was a question for another ti.
"Are you going to keep playing with ?" Rain asked. "Don't worry, I am not going to kill you today, but soday I will, and I will unleash my frustration on the asshole who turned into a dog for my enemies."
"... Victory is yours, and you have four thousand points back for your victory," The man on the throne said as if he was chewing the most disgusting thing in the world.
The room trembled again, and the red circle began to glow… he truly was planning to follow his modus operandi until the very end. Before long, a new enemy arrived. It seed like another dark knight, but this one was fifty ters tall… he barely could keep standing in the castle since the ceiling wasn't that high.
"Oh boy… he is the type that thinks that dangerous things equals big things," Rain said. "I will show you sothing truly big that is scary."
"Are you saying that to a dude?" Elisabetha asked.
"... I was talking about my brain," Rain furrowed his eyebrows.
Before they could say anything else more stupid, the monster suddenly summoned a sword made of shadows and then swung it down… the weapon collided and pierced through the pillars with ease… but weirdly enough, they were repaired in the blink of an eye.
On the place that Rain was supposed to be, the enemy found nothing. Only when the sword stopped moving was when he found Rain standing on the side of the sword touching the shadows as if they were sothing rare to find.
"You said that this is the corrupt power of all sins, but you aren't reacting to it," Rain said. "In this kind of situation, shouldn't you be able to absorb it?"
"It isn't the corruption on the body of a dragon, and this has all the sins as well," Elisabetha said. "They are all mixed together, and they can't be separated anymore."
Maybe if Rain had all the relics, he would be able to pull that off… while all of them had rage toward the dragons, Elisabetha was by far the one who hated them the most. In terms of the sins, perhaps Sakaki would have sothing like the sin of pride, Vanessa would have the sin of gluttony, or perhaps envy since she can drain mana from others and from spells.
Nigel, perhaps, would be a sloth… Larisa found it hard to connect to any of the sins.
Regardless, Rain didn't have ti to analyze the shadows anymore since the monster swung its sword upward and almost smashed him. The entire castle trembled, but soon it was repaired again… the rules of that place were starting to beco obvious.
"It is powerful, but sothing this big is too slow, even more so with the limited surroundings," Rain said. "You certainly didn't beco smarter sitting there like a retard."
The shadows around the figure on the throne began to stir and move with newfound urgency. An eerie darkness enveloped the entire king, shrouding every inch in a veil of obscurity. Only the eyes, now glowing with an intense red light, pierced through the darkness.
The figure rose from the throne, reacting to Rain's taunts more vehently than anticipated… soon he was going to face the king and his full power.
