Chapter 22

"What?!"

"Soone from the hospital called , saying your wife is having stomach pains and has been admitted. It seems she’s about to give birth."

Lu Jinyang was stunned, "Isn’t there still half a month until the due date?"

Li Yan uncharacteristically explained patiently, "Yes, but it’s her second child. The process is usually shorter for second births. According to obstetrics experience, the second child often reaches full term and is born quickly."

Upon hearing this, Lu Jinyang turned and started walking out. Li Yan quickly stopped him, "Where are you going?"

"Back to City B~"

Li Yan seed to be struck by lightning, frozen in place. If mory serves, Lu Jinyang hasn’t had any episodes for two days now. But the journey to City B is so long; what if he has an episode on the plane...

Just thinking about it made Li Yan’s head spin, he quickly chased after him, "Lu Jinyang, buy a ticket too..."

-

The trip was rushed, Li Yan only brought his dical kit like he did when they ca. He sat nervously beside Lu Jinyang, so tired yet not daring to sleep, scared that if he let his guard down even once, the person next to him might have an episode.

Before boarding, Li Yan took the ti to call Gu Chen as instructed by Lu Jinyang, telling him to ship those people by sea and ensure they have no escape route before returning.

For over a dozen hours, Li Yan didn’t dare close his eyes, feeling as if his heart was lodged in his throat, extrely tense.

Fortunately, until they landed, Lu Jinyang showed no unusual symptoms.

"How is Xiao Qing?" Lu Jinyang walked quickly out, having notified the driver to pick them up; they should have arrived by now.

"Wait, let call and find out~"

Li Yan followed behind him, holding the dical kit and making a call, while also keeping an eye in case he fainted. He swore to claim ntal distress compensation from Lu Jinyang once he recovered.

Upon learning Xiao Qing’s surgery was scheduled for the afternoon, Li Yan imdiately inford him, hoping he’d slow down. Yet, he only got more anxious, his steps quickening, and even in the car, he repeatedly urged the driver to speed up.

After rushing all the way, they managed to reach the hospital before Xiao Qing entered the operating room.

Xiao Qing’s contractions were already frequent. Originally, the doctors said she might try a natural delivery, but the mischievous little rascal inside had unexpectedly wrapped the umbilical cord around its neck three tis in the past two days, leaving everyone exasperated.

Qin Huaixin, having just finished her postpartum confinent, disregarded her little baby at ho, leaving the child with Leng Yixing while she ca over to cheer Xiao Qing.

"Xin’er, could you let call Lu Jinyang first?"

"At a ti like this, you’re still thinking about that jerk. If he finished his business, he’d be back by now."

"But I just want to know what he’s doing now..."

Qin Huaixin looked helpless but understood Xiao Qing missing Lu Jinyang was only natural given the circumstances. She took out her phone and handed it over, "Quick, call him, then we need to go into the operating room."

"No need to call, I’m back now..."

A deep voice rang out as usual, like a major key lody, drawing Xiao Qing and Qin Huaixin’s gazes outward, where a tall figure appeared before them, approaching the sickbed.

"I’m sorry, I’m late~"

If he hadn’t spoken, things might have been better; but once he did, Xiao Qing cried, "It’s all your fault, I’ll never have children again, sob sob sob~"

After he entered, Qin Huaixin stepped out, leaving space for the couple. She thought about the nursing baby at ho and left the hospital.
