Liam turned to Sylvia, his mind still turning over everything she had said so far.
The whole "ga" talk had him on edge already, but this island part felt different.
He needed to understand it clearly before they went any further.
"What exactly do you an by island the ga?" he asked.
Sylvia closed her umbrella with a quick snap and looked straight at him.
"It’s simple. You and your harem would be transported to an island of mine and try to survive a week without getting killed."
Liam felt his stomach tighten. Survive a week without getting killed?
That wasn’t so light challenge. He glanced at the girls standing around him, Olivia, Beatrix, Crya, and Pyra.
They were all watching Sylvia, faces serious but steady. He knew they had his back, but the idea of dropping them into sothing deadly made his chest feel heavy.
Still, this was the deal they had struck. He had to hear the rest.
Beatrix stepped forward before he could speak. "So what’s different about this island?" she asked.
Sylvia let out her usual laugh. "Ohohoho! This island has a special thing.
Inside this island lives a dragon I’ve found in the dead realm.
It’s simple, you just go there and kill it in a week’s ti and I would keep my part of the deal."
Liam thought for a mont, letting the words sink in. A dragon. Not so small monster, but an actual dragon they had to take down in seven days.
It sounded insane, but backing out now wasn’t an option. He needed details. "How big is this dragon, actually?" he asked, keeping his voice even.
Sylvia smiled. "Two hundred ters maybe more. I didn’t check on him lately."
Two hundred ters. Liam’s mind flashed with the size, longer than two football fields put together. How were they supposed to even get close to sothing that huge without it crushing them?
He swallowed hard but gave a small nod. No point showing panic in front of the girls. They needed him steady. "Okay, so how do we get there?"
Sylvia snapped her fingers.
The world twisted around Liam in a rush. One second he was standing there with the others, the next everything spun and went dark. Then his feet hit solid ground again.
He blinked and looked around. They were sitting on an empty beach.
Warm sand pressed against his legs, the ocean stretched out blue and calm, and a light breeze carried the salty sll of the sea.
It almost looked peaceful, like a postcard. But he knew better. This was the island.
Before anyone could say a word, a long arm burst out of the sand right beside them. It was thick, fast, and slamd straight into Pyra.
She flew through the air like a rag doll, arcing high before crashing hard into the sea with a splash that sent water flying everywhere.
Liam’s heart hamred in his chest. "Pyra!" he shouted. He checked her status in his mind, the system window popped up instantly.
She was still alive, but her HP bar was dangerously low. He let out a shaky breath. At least she wasn’t dead. But he had barely even seen the arm move.
One second it was underground, the next it was hitting her. He gulped, feeling the fear rise. If that thing could move that fast, none of them were safe just sitting here.
He pushed himself up and swam toward Pyra in the shallow water, calling out at the sa ti. "Olivia, Beatrix, Crya! Each one run in different directions and distract it!"
Olivia nodded fast and took off along the shore. The arm whipped toward her, trying to slam down, but she skidded to a stop at the last second, dodging it cleanly. Liam felt a quick flash of relief, she was okay for now.
But the dragon wasn’t done. Its massive jaw rose out of the sand farther down the beach, opening wide. Energy started building inside its mouth, glowing bright and dangerous.
"Olivia, no! Get away!" Liam yelled, pushing harder through the water toward her.
He wasn’t going to make it in ti. But Beatrix was already there. She shoved Olivia aside just as the beam fired.
Right before the energy hit her, Beatrix yanked out the royal succubus scroll and activated it.
A portal snapped open in front of her, swallowing the beam and sending it sowhere else.
The blast slamd into a small hill far away and blew it apart. The ground shook under Liam’s feet, and dust rose into the air.
He gulped again, staring at the destruction. This thing was on another level. He pulled up the dragon’s info in the system. True Dragon.
Level ??? The question marks stared back at him. No number, no details, just unknown. His stomach dropped. They couldn’t fight sothing like this head-on right now.
Liam nodded to himself. "Yep, we need to hide and plan this again."
Beatrix gave a quick nod. Pyra was still breathing but looked bad. Crya had already lifted her onto her shoulder, carrying her carefully.
Liam looked at Pyra’s face. She was pale, her eyes half-closed, and her HP bar was flashing low. She needs help now, he thought.
No ti to stand around. "She needs help now," he said out loud. "Follow ."
They started running toward the tree line at the edge of the beach. The sand made every step harder, but they pushed on.
Behind them, the dragon snapped its wings open with a loud whoosh that Liam felt in his bones. The air rushed over them.
Luckily, they made it into the dense trees before the dragon could get a clear shot. Leaves and branches slapped at their faces as they ran deeper.
But even under the canopy, a huge shadow blocked out the sky above, the dragon circling overhead, its massive body cutting off the sunlight.
Liam cursed his shitty luck under his breath. "Damn it," he muttered. Why did things always have to turn out like this? One minute they were talking deals, the next they were running for their lives from a giant dragon.
Then Olivia’s voice cut through. "I found a cave!"
Liam’s heart lifted a little. A cave. It could give them cover, a place to catch their breath, and maybe treat Pyra’s injuries. The group picked up speed, excitent pushing them forward.
Crya adjusted Pyra on her shoulder without slowing down. Beatrix stayed close, watching their backs. Olivia waved them on from ahead.
They ran straight for the dark opening in the rocks. The ground turned from sand to dirt and stone under their feet. Cool air washed over them as they got closer.
But the mont they entered it, sothing happened.
