Chapter 118: Chapter 118: mories Chapter 118: Chapter 118: mories The person on the phone said sothing, and Assistant Chen turned his head to look at Xu Jinzhi beside him, unsure whether he should reveal the information.

Xu Jinzhi, from the mont Assistant Chen answered the phone, was staring intensely at him, waiting for him to provide an answer!

At that mont, observing Assistant Chen’s expression, the answer seed ready to burst forth. Xu Jinzhi felt her world beginning to turn blank.

But Xu Jinzhi persisted; using her last bit of energy, she asked Assistant Chen, “Tell , has there been a car accident or not!”

“On Zhengyang Road, a major accident occurred. A truck collided with a sedan, causing several rear-end collisions,” said Assistant Chen, his expression complex.

Tears once again slipped from Xu Jinzhi’s eyes. In her mind, she saw the surveillance footage from the police station last lifeti. The truck ca rushing out from the other side, directly hitting Xie Yanchuan’s car!

The sedan was thrown into the air, even spinning twice before crashing to the ground, and the truck, failing to brake in ti, collided with it again.

Colliding with other cars, the sedan, now trapped between them, had beco a pile of scrap tal!

Xu Jinzhi opened her mouth but could not speak. Instead, her body shook uncontrollably, as if she might draw her last breath at any mont.

“Mr. Xu,” Assistant Chen and Li An hurriedly said, “the scene is chaotic. It might not be Professor Xie who was involved. Don’t worry too much yet. We…”

However, before Assistant Chen could finish his sentence, Xu Jinzhi’s eyes slightly drooped, and the next mont, she fainted without warning.

“Mr. Xu!” Assistant Chen abruptly pressed the brakes, then tried to call Xu Jinzhi.

But Xu Jinzhi had already fainted, and Assistant Chen couldn’t just wake her up!

Monts later, Assistant Chen regained his composure, started driving again, and headed straight to the hospital with Xu Jinzhi.

Xie Suian had awoken that morning and seed to have no major issues, but given his age, such a sudden faint was cause for great concern.

Even the doctor’s advice was to stay in the hospital for observation, to avoid any unexpected issues happening and not getting tily treatnt. Thus, Xie Suian continued to lie in the hospital.

But with a crowd of people around, Xie Suian felt sowhat uncomfortable. He frowned slightly and said with so impatience, “Do whatever you need to do, don’t hang around here.”

Xie Linchuan seed like he wanted to say sothing, but Xie Suian had fainted just as Xie Linchuan was about to speak. Before he could say a word, Xie Suian sternly reprimanded him, “You too, go do whatever you need to do, don’t annoy people here.”

Worried that his presence might agitate Xie Suian, Xie Linchuan, although concerned, still left the hospital room.

After Xie Suian left, the atmosphere in the hospital room improved a lot. Knowing that Xie Yanchuan was also supposed to go on a business trip, Xie Suian eventually persuaded Yanchuan to leave, speaking to him much gentler than he had to Linchuan.

Xie Yanchuan was still sowhat worried, so he specifically went to speak with the doctor. After their conversation, he planned to leave.

As Xu Jinzhi’s group was preparing to leave, Xie Suian asked them to take Xie Zhihuai back with them too. Xie Suian wasn’t superstitious, but he still had so reservations.

Feeling that it was better for the child to visit the hospital less often, Xu Jinzhi and Xie Yanchuan took Xie Zhihuai, and the family of three left the hospital together.

First, they took Xie Zhihuai ho, and then Xie Yanchuan booked a flight for later that evening.

Xu Jinzhi had taken Xie Yanchuan to the airport in the evening, by which ti it was already late, and Xie Yanchuan was about to board his flight. Xu Jinzhi, sowhat distracted, said goodbye to Xie Yanchuan and then turned around to leave.

Halfway through, Xu Jinzhi felt soone watching her from behind and instinctively stopped, turning back to see Xie Yanchuan standing there, looking at her.

Xie Yanchuan smiled at Xu Jinzhi, and she smiled back at him.

Her mind had been elsewhere because she thought she might be pregnant.

But she wasn’t sure, so she planned to go to the hospital tomorrow to check. Once it was confird that she was indeed pregnant, she would share the good news with Xie Yanchuan.

Xie Yanchuan had always wanted a daughter. They loved Xie Zhihuai dearly, and having another baby wouldn’t replace Tuantuan’s place in her heart.

However, when Xie Zhihuai was born, they weren’t in love with each other.

If she really was pregnant, then the little one in her stomach would be a true testant to their love.

Xu Jinzhi, full of thoughts, returned ho, where Xie Yanchuan had already boarded the plane and would be landing in a little over an hour.

She first went to the bathroom to prepare for a shower and rest. When she ca out, she found others still in the bedroom.

“Mom!” Xie Zhihuai, in his pajamas, ran toward Xu Jinzhi with his little short legs.

The aunt apologized, “Tuantuan has been wanting to see you ever since, and I couldn’t calm him down.”

“It’s okay,” Xu Jinzhi said lightly.

Finally, Xu Jinzhi crouched down to pick up Xie Zhihuai. Seeing his reddish eyes, she asked him, “What’s wrong? Why is the little man crying?”

Xie Zhihuai said with a milky voice, “I miss Mommy.”

Xu Jinzhi, half-laughing and half-crying, said, “Then Tuantuan can sleep with Mommy tonight.”

Xie Zhihuai was almost four years old, but he had never slept with his parents unless he wheedled his way into a sleepover privilege.

“Where’s Daddy?” Xie Zhihuai asked, then started searching the room as if trying to find his father.

At ho, Xie Zhihuai was always more attached to Xie Yanchuan—it couldn’t be helped. From the ti Xie Zhihuai was born, Xie Yanchuan treasured him like the apple of his eye and never scolded him.

Even the most sensible kid acts up sotis, and Xu Jinzhi occasionally lost her temper, but Xie Yanchuan always asked her to stay calm and talked things through with the child.

Xu Jinzhi knew why Xie Yanchuan was like this: he poured all the fatherly and motherly love he never received as a child into Tuantuan.

So, in their family, Xu Jinzhi was the strict mother, and Xie Yanchuan was the tender father.

Xu Jinzhi soothed him, “Daddy is on a business trip; he’ll be back in a few days.”

Hearing that Daddy wasn’t there, Xie Zhihuai pouted and began to cry, “Want Daddy, Daddy co back.”

Xu Jinzhi didn’t know what was up with the little guy. Xie Yanchuan rarely went on business trips, and though Xie Zhihuai missed him in the past, he never cried and fussed like this now.

Xu Jinzhi could only comfort him patiently, but no matter how she tried, it seed to do no good. Xie Zhihuai didn’t cry loudly but constantly whimpered with teary eyes, whining for his Daddy.
