Chapter 117: Chapter 117: It Didn’t Happen At This Ti In The Last Life Chapter 117: Chapter 117: It Didn’t Happen At This Ti In The Last Life On one hand, you could say that his self-control was excellent; ordinarily, with just a slight tease from Xu Jinzhi, he would lose all control and ravage her ti and again.

Yet on the other hand, you might argue that his self-control was poor—knowing how dizzyingly busy Xu Jinzhi had been lately, he could still resist putting her through that.

But when it ca down to it, all of this was a display of Xie Yanchuan’s consideration for Xu Jinzhi!

Realizing that she had been neglecting Xie Yanchuan during this period of ti, Xu Jinzhi felt she should really make it up to him!

With that thought in mind, Xu Jinzhi imdiately took action, picking up her cell phone to call Xie Yanchuan.

At that mont, Xie Yanchuan had just left the lab. Seeing the call from Xu Jinzhi, he thought she might be about to tell him she would have to work overti.

But as soon as the call connected, he heard Xu Jinzhi ask sowhat playfully, “Is Professor Xie done with his work?”

Xie Yanchuan didn’t know why Xu Jinzhi was suddenly calling him Professor Xie, but she always gave him various nicknas, so he didn’t mind.

He replied indifferently, “Yes, I’ve just co out of the lab.”

“Then may I invite Professor Xie to have dinner together tonight?” Xu Jinzhi asked.

“Have you finished your work?”

“Yes.”

Xie Yanchuan’s lips curved up ever so slightly, “Then shall I co to your office to pick you up?”

“Mhm!” Xu Jinzhi agreed.

After hanging up the phone, Xu Jinzhi started to leisurely tidy up her desk; it was peak ti for leaving work, and it would take Xie Yanchuan so ti to get there.

By the ti Xu Jinzhi had put her desk in order and started thinking about where to dine out, she had already booked a restaurant after half an hour had passed.

Xie Yanchuan should be arriving soon, so only then did Xu Jinzhi leave her office.

As she passed by the office area, Xu Jinzhi saw Assistant Chen still hadn’t left and casually said, “Don’t work too late today, go ho and rest early.”

“I’m almost done here,” Assistant Chen replied.

Xu Jinzhi rely nodded, “Then I’ll be leaving first.”

Without paying further attention to Assistant Chen, Xu Jinzhi walked toward the elevator.

As the elevator descended, Xu Jinzhi’s phone rang. She thought it was Xie Yanchuan arriving but, upon checking her phone, discovered it wasn’t from him, but from her own father.

Xu Jinzhi answered the call, “Dad.”

“Jinzhi, co to the hospital. Your father-in-law has fainted,” Xu Zhen’s serious voice ca through the phone.

“What?” Xu Jinzhi was initially stunned but then quickly regained her composure and asked, “What happened?”

“It’s too complicated to explain right now. I’ll send you the address; you need to co to the hospital!” Xu Zhen’s tone was stern; as Xie Suian’s daughter-in-law, it was only right for Xu Jinzhi to hurriedly make her way there in case of an ergency!

“Okay!” Xu Jinzhi responded.

Xu Zhen didn’t say anything more on the other end and hung up the phone.

Staring at the now disconnected call, Xu Jinzhi felt both shocked and bewildered.

When the elevator doors opened, Xu Jinzhi hadn’t quite collected herself. Only when she realized the doors were about to close did she quickly press the button to stop them.

Stepping out from the elevator, Xu Jinzhi walked forward a few steps, subconsciously, but she felt an inexplicable panic rising in her heart.

Her panic wasn’t without cause; after all, Xie Suian had collapsed.

No matter what, Xie Suian was her father-in-law. If sothing happened to him, Xie Yanchuan…

Xu Jinzhi suddenly stopped, fear sweeping over her instantly, and the look in her eyes beca a bit frantic in that mont.

By the ti Xu Jinzhi snapped back to reality, her hands holding the phone were already trembling.

She kept telling herself not to panic, not to panic!

But her hands couldn’t help shaking, and with much difficulty, she finally dialed the number. Holding the phone to her ear, she heard the dial tone echoing, but the call was never answered.

Xu Jinzhi began to lose control of her emotions. She felt weak all over and quickly crouched down, barely preventing a clumsy fall to the ground.

However, the call Xu Jinzhi made to Xie Yanchuan went unanswered!

Although it was past closing ti, a small number of people still hadn’t left the office.

Soone saw Xu Jinzhi crouching on the ground, looking sowhat distressed, approached, and asked with concern, “Mr. Xu, what happened?”

Xu Jinzhi looked up at the person but didn’t know what to say. Her mind was filled with the scene of the last ti she saw Xie Yanchuan in the hospital in her previous life.

Tears fell unexpectedly from her eyes, as Xu Jinzhi’s body began trembling uncontrollably.

Assistant Chen, who was about to head to the parking lot to drive away, glanced at the lobby unintentionally as he waited at the back of the elevator letting colleagues exit one by one.

He saw only a back view but was certain; it was the clothes Mr. Xu wore today!

Surprised, Assistant Chen quickly exited the elevator and walked briskly towards the figure.

“Mr. Xu!” Assistant Chen rushed back, kneeling beside Xu Jinzhi, “What happened to you?”

It wasn’t until seeing Assistant Chen that Xu Jinzhi regained a bit of her composure. She had been reborn, and everything was changing.

Moreover, in her previous life, Xie Yanchuan’s accident didn’t occur at this ti, let alone on the day Xie Suian fainted. She needed to stay calm. Xie Yanchuan must have been delayed and that’s why he didn’t answer her call!

“Assistant Chen, call Xie Yanchuan, ask where he is!” Xu Jinzhi gripped Assistant Chen’s arm firmly.

“Are you okay?” Assistant Chen still wanted to make sure of Xu Jinzhi’s condition first.

Seeing Xu Jinzhi shaking her head, Assistant Chen then took out his phone to call Xie Yanchuan.

However, the call from Assistant Chen also went unanswered.

“Mr. Xu…”

“Go start the car!” Xu Jinzhi interrupted Assistant Chen, then used all her strength to stand up herself.

Although Assistant Chen didn’t know what had happened, he always followed Mr. Xu’s orders without question. Seeing Xu Jinzhi’s departure, he hurriedly followed.

“He ca from A University half an hour ago; call soone and ask if there’s been a car accident on this road during this ti slot,” Xu Jinzhi said with a trembling voice.

Hearing this, Assistant Chen took out his phone and made calls again, reaching out to contacts who could provide information.

At this ti, Xu Jinzhi was incapable of driving, so Assistant Chen drove out of the parking lot. In a short while, his phone rang.

It was the return call from the person Assistant Chen had just called, saying he wasn’t sure and needed to find out first. Now the call was returned, probably with news.

Assistant Chen quickly answered the phone, “Hello.”
