Su Pan’er raced toward the direction of the wolf howls.

Her toes lightly touched the ground, leveraging a bounce that took her a good ten zhang away upon landing.

Repeating this, she moved so fast that she seed like a gust of wind dancing through the mountain forest.

One mont she was to the left, but after two leaps she had already disappeared from sight, leaving no trace behind.

Su Pan’er forcefully held her breath, the howls not giving her a chance to even breathe, fearing that any mont of hesitation would result in being devoured completely by the pack of wolves.

Soon, she arrived at the source of the howling. Using the night as cover, she could make out the cave in the distance, surrounded by a pack of more than twenty large wolves.

In the cave, Lui Muyi had reached the limit of his strength!

He was not like the usual good-for-nothing sons of nobility, yet against the covetous pack of wolves before him, he was clearly outmatched.

The wolves leaped into the cave from its entrance, startling Aunt Xiao and Xiao Min into loud screams! Lui Muyi swung his pole frantically, hitting one large wolf squarely on the forehead. The blow left the wolf dizzy and yelping, forcing it to retreat.

But before he could retract his pole, more wolves leaped at him. Lui Muyi repeated his move, striking two more wolves successfully. However, a wolf from behind used the distraction as cover and clamped its sharp teeth onto the pole, sinking in deeply, refusing to let go no matter how much Lui Muyi tried to shake it off.

Just at that mont, two more wolves silently lunged at Lui Muyi from behind.

Seeing the wolf’s head within striking distance, the white gleam of its fangs almost upon him, so close he could sll the foul stench from the wolf’s mouth, he instinctively closed his eyes, not willing to see the jaws snap shut...

The howling of wolves was everywhere!

Su Pan’er swiftly got closer, discerning the densely packed wolves attempting to rush into the cave.

"Be careful! Retreat quickly..."

Su Pan’er shouted, propelling herself forward with a leap, and plunged into the midst of the wolves with her long whip infused with Inner Strength, casting it out like it was dancing.

Shadow upon shadow of her whip...

It enveloped every wolf at the mouth of the cave!

Crack! Crack, crack...

As the long whip struck, the wolves were thrown into chaos, turning to save themselves.

Su Pan’er certainly didn’t give them a chance.

With natural godlike strength, she feared she was too late, so she exerted all her might, her whip charged with Inner Strength. She swung it down; the whip was sharper than a blade’s edge, instantly slicing several large wolves in half at the waist. They fell to the ground, wailing tragically, their cries relentless.

What might seem like a long story happened in the blink of an eye!

Just as Lui Muyi closed his eyes, suddenly he saw a blur before him accompanied by agonized howls.

Even before the frightened cries of Aunt Xiao and Xiao Min had ceased, he felt the air suddenly clear before him. Before he could grasp what had happened, he instinctively opened his eyes.

The pairs of gloomy blue, Inverted Triangle Eyes at the cave entrance had vanished without a trace.

In their place, a breeze blew through the cave entrance, bringing with it a thick scent of blood. The cold moonlight shed its light on the grass outside the cave, where several beasts were still struggling.

The howling cries persisted.

"Stop yelling!"

Lui Muyi shouted sternly.

Aunt Xiao and Xiao Min imdiately ceased, still with expressions of terror and panic on their faces.

Lui Muyi didn’t speak again and tried to pull out the pole from the wolf’s mouth, but the wolf persisted in biting the other end of the pole. After several attempts, he couldn’t free it.

He simply discarded the pole and stepped over the twitching wolf carcasses at the cave entrance to step outside.

Outside the cave, dead wolves lay scattered about in a fan shape from the entrance!

These ferocious wolves lay scattered in death, a vast number crumpled east and west!

So had bodies decapitated from their heads, others were missing half their faces, and so appeared as if soone had just left them lying there, motionless!

Even if there were three or five wolves that had not yet given up the ghost, judging from their bodies severed in two, it would only be a matter of monts.

Looking around, he saw no one at all.

Lui Muyi rubbed his eyes several tis, feeling as if he was in a dream.

In but the blink of an eye, not only were they saved from what seed certain death in the jaws of the wolves, but now a field of large wolves lay dead! Quietly surrounding them was a deathly silence so profound, not even the chirp of a bird could be heard.

What exactly had happened?

He was entirely at a loss as to why.

But in the next mont, a whirlwind swept by, and when the wind had stopped, Su Pan’er was standing a few steps away from him.

She cocked her head to size him up for a mont before slowly sauntering over.

"Are you alright?"

Before him, Su Pan’er held the Three-legged Crow Whip in one hand, and with the other, she grasped three large wolf heads! One of the wolves had a streak of white fur along its crown, and fresh blood tirelessly dripped from the wolf’s mouth.

"I..."

Lui Muyi’s voice was slightly choked, and he couldn’t help but cough twice before he could laugh it off, "I’m fine, we’re all fine!"

"It’s good that you’re fine!"

Su Pan’er also breathed a sigh of relief, casually tossing the large wolf in her hand onto the ground. Then recollection brought a wave of lingering fear, "That was close! Had I been even a mont later, the consequences would have been unimaginable!"

Previously, just as the situation seed hopeless, this wolf had actually tried to sneak away with two other large wolves.

These large wolves were vengeful and had strong retaliatory instincts, akin to ticking ti bombs; she decided to rid of them all, to save the trouble of being on guard against them later on.

Unfortunately, as a few wolves had fled in different directions, so had still managed to escape.

"That’s exactly right," agreed Lui Muyi, laughing heartily, "By the way, Aunt Xiao and the other one are inside the cave, they’re both fine and unhard."

"Madam! Madam..."

Xiao Min, holding a child, erged from the cave, with Aunt Xiao steadying her beside. The two of them wept with joy, kneeling before Su Pan’er.

"Madam, we thought we’d never see you again! Madam... woo woo..."

The two clung to Su Pan’er’s legs, one on each side, crying loudly.

Hastily, Su Pan’er comforted them, "Don’t cry, please stop crying! The wolves... they’re all dead, don’t cry..."

As she spoke, her own eyes reddened.

Gently patting their backs, glad that everyone was unhard.

Lui Muyi watched this scene in silence, the breath that had been stuck in his chest slowly subsided, yielding to a wave of weakness.

He didn’t care for appearances and simply collapsed on the ground!

His hands propped on the grass were still trembling, and he kept muttering, "I, I thought we were definitely done for this ti!"

Wasn’t that the assumption?

That was a pack of wolves, after all! He never imagined that they would escape from the wolves’ jaws!

Such relief from a brush with death left him repeating those words over and over, unable to say anything else.
