Chapter 1323: Chapter 649: Scorching Sun! The Old Man Praying for Rain!
Luo Ping listened and nodded in satisfaction, a hint of appreciation flashing in his eyes.
After all, Luo Yao was the one he had chosen as the next heir to the position of Luo Family Patriarch.
For Luo Yao to perform in such a manner, it showed that he hadn’t chosen the wrong person.
“What are your plans next?”
“Do you wish to continue your training outside, or perhaps… stay within the Luo Family Ancestral Land?”
Luo Ping inquired softly.
At this mont, Luo Yao slightly lowered his head, seemingly contemplating how to respond to this matter.
Though Luo Yao already had an answer in his heart, he did not reply to Luo Ping imdiately. Instead, he took a deep breath as if organizing his thoughts.
He raised his head, looked at Luo Ping with determination, and slowly said, “Patriarch, I wish to continue training outside.”
Luo Ping was slightly taken aback, seemingly surprised by Luo Yao’s answer.
He fell silent for a mont, then slowly nodded and said, “That’s fine, young people should go out more to train, broaden their horizons, and enhance their capabilities.”
“However, rember to maintain a humble heart, constantly learn, and keep improving no matter where you go.”
Luo Yao solemnly nodded to show that he would rember the Patriarch’s teachings.
He knew that although the clan eting had showcased his abilities, it also exposed his shortcomings.
He understood there was still much to learn and improve upon, and only through constant training and growth could he beco truly strong.
In the following days, Luo Yao bade farewell to the mbers of the Luo Family and once again embarked on his journey of training.
…
As ti passed.
Soon, three days had gone by.
At this mont, Luo Yao was already at least hundreds of miles away from Qingshi City.
“Why is today’s sun so intense?”
On the road.
Luo Yao silently lifted his head, glanced at the blazing sun in the sky, and couldn’t help but furrow his brows slightly.
The scorching sun was overhead, and Luo Yao felt an unprecedented heatwave assaulting him.
Even though his cultivation was not low,
he could still feel the deep malice this scorching sun held towards human beings.
“Hmm?”
“Old man, what are you doing?”
Just as Luo Yao was planning to continue on his way towards the nearest town,
he suddenly noticed, by the side of the road, in a field,
an elderly man quietly kneeling on the ground.
It seed as if he was praying for sothing.
Luo Yao was puzzled, paused slightly, and then walked toward the old man.
He saw the old man’s clothes were ragged, his face lined with wrinkles, clearly aged and frail, yet still devoutly kneeling on the ground, hands clasped in prayer, muttering under his breath.
Luo Yao stepped forward and softly asked, “Old man, what are you doing? Why are you praying here?”
The old man raised his head, glanced at Luo Yao, with a brief flicker of surprise in his eyes, but then quickly regained his composure.
He slowly opened his mouth, his voice old and hoarse: “Young man, you must be an outsider. You don’t know about the strange event that recently happened here.”
Luo Yao’s heart was moved, and he hurriedly asked, “Oh? What strange event?”
The old man sighed and slowly said, “Originally, though this place was not particularly rainy, the sun wouldn’t blaze continuously for two or three months like it does now…”
As the old man spoke, he looked at the crops in the field, which seed almost dead due to drought.
The old man’s eyes were filled with worry and helplessness.
Luo Yao furrowed his brow slightly; he naturally understood what the old man ant.
Two or three months of blazing sun was undoubtedly a disaster for the creatures of this land.
He looked around and saw that the once lush fields had beco a withered yellow, and even the resilient trees appeared wilted and lifeless.
Sothing stirred in his heart, recalling the heatwave he had felt before, and he couldn’t help but ask, “Old man, have you not thought of a solution to this problem? For instance, praying for rain?”
The old man gave a bitter smile and shook his head, “We tried. The villagers invited the most famous Taoist in the area to perform rituals for rain, but the result was…” The old man paused, a flash of fear crossing his eyes as if recalling sothing terrifying.
Seeing this, Luo Yao beca even more curious and pursued, “What was the result?”
The old man took a deep breath, as if calming himself, before slowly saying, “The result was that during the ritual, the Taoist suddenly scread and fell to the ground, never to rise again. The villagers all said that it was the heavens punishing us because we angered the gods.”
Upon hearing this, Luo Yao’s heart was moved.
Though he had not witnessed the Taoist’s rain-ritual, as a cultivator, he had a certain understanding of the laws and principles of the universe.
He knew that forcefully interfering with the natural laws of the world could indeed lead to so unpredictable consequences.
He pondered for a mont, then said, “Old man, perhaps I can take a look for you.”
The old man heard this, and a glimr of hope appeared in his eyes, but it quickly dimd as he shook his head, “Young man, I appreciate your kindness, but this matter really can’t be solved by human effort. You should leave quickly to avoid getting into trouble.”
Luo Yao smiled slightly and said, “Old man, don’t worry. Since I have said I would help, I will certainly do my best.”
Seeing Luo Yao so determined, the old man, although sowhat doubtful, finally nodded in agreent.
