Chapter 1216: Chapter 1216: If We Get Divorced in the Future
She flipped through it once again, tragically, she couldn’t understand a single sentence. She had no choice but to sit there and wait for Shen Chi.
Looking outside, Shen Chi was buying candy with Xiaobao in his arms.
The man’s back was tall and slender, his spine broad and solid, a sight that was very much pleasing to the eye. Especially the coat he was wearing, which she hadn’t seen him wear before, suited him well.
He also wore the scarf she had knitted around his neck; she hadn’t seen him in so ti and didn’t know what he had been preoccupied with.
Perhaps… he was in a relationship.
After waiting for a while, Shen Chi ca back with Xiaobao in his arms.
Shen Chi unwrapped the candy and let Xiaobao have a lick. Xiaobao was even more delighted, cheekily wriggling about in Shen Chi’s arms.
“Hey, you can’t let him eat too much,” Xu Chaomu quickly stood up and said.
“I know moderation,” Shen Chi said.
“Oh,” Xu Chaomu lowered her head again.
Shen Chi and Xiaobao got along very harmoniously as father and son.
After a good while, Xu Chaomu handed him the docunts, “What is this? I can’t understand it.”
“You don’t need to understand, just sign,” Shen Chi said.
Xu Chaomu frowned and looked at him, “You haven’t explained it to , how can I sign? Are signatures sothing to be taken lightly?”
It was just like the ti she was confusedly dragged to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get a marriage certificate by him on the group chat, and she didn’t even know what was happening.
“I won’t deceive you,” Shen Chi said with a slight smile.
“I won’t sign,” Xu Chaomu prepared to close the docunts, “Unless you explain it to first.”
Shen Chi shook his head; the little woman was truly stubborn.
He had no choice but to say, “I don’t know if you’ve heard about the recent issues with Shen Group, so these are so reports we need to give to the governnt. You are the legal representative, so only you can sign.”
“Is the company’s matter resolved?”
“It’s all trivial,” Shen Chi replied.
Only then did Xu Chaomu stop probing; she knew that with Shen Chi’s capabilities, there was nothing he couldn’t handle.
Shen Chi handed her a pen and showed her where to sign.
Xu Chaomu asked more questions but still didn’t understand; however… she still believed that Shen Chi wouldn’t deceive her.
At least on this point, she was certain.
So she picked up the pen and signed her na wherever necessary.
After finishing, she handed the docunts back to him while saying, “Another day, find an opportunity to change the legal representative back. I, Xu Chaomu, am not suited for such a responsibility.”
“There’s still .”
“It’s pointless for to hold the title.”
“No… if we divorce in the future, at least the decision of who the company goes to will be up to you,” Shen Chi said.
Xu Chaomu was taken aback; she looked up at Shen Chi. This was the first ti this man had brought up the topic on his own.
A part of her heart faintly believed that he did have a girlfriend.
She lowered her eyelids, smiled faintly, then nodded without saying a word.
“Your hands are so cold,” Shen Chi suddenly freed one hand to grasp both of hers.
His dry palm radiated warmth, which unexpectedly converged in the palm of Xu Chaomu’s hand.
“It looks like it’s about ti; I’ll take Xiaobao. If you have other things to do… you can go first,” Xu Chaomu said.
“I bought so things for Xiaobao, and I’ve already had soone deliver them to your residential complex’s concierge. Make sure to pick them up,” Shen Chi said, “Of course, I got sothing for you, too.”
“You didn’t have to go to such expense.”
“Just keep it,” Shen Chi frowned.
Xu Chaomu pouted and didn’t argue any further. She couldn’t win against him anyway.
Shen Chi, however, found it difficult to let go of Xiaobao, yet he had to.
“Xiaobao, here’s so candy for you, but don’t eat too much. Listen to Mommy,” Shen Chi said seriously to him.
“Mmm…” Xiaobao softly responded, though it was unclear if he understood.
Shen Chi gathered all the candies and handed them to Xu Chaomu.
“You can’t catch a cold again. Look what you have put Mommy through,” Shen Chi said with affection. His concern was for Xiaobao, but of course, even more so for Xu Chaomu.
Xu Chaomu appeared exhausted, with dark circles under her eyes, it was hard to tell how many nights she hadn’t slept well.
“Mmm…” Xiaobao made another sound.
“Alright, Daddy’s leaving now, give one more kiss.” Shen Chi planted a kiss on his face.
This ti, unusually, Shen Chi didn’t say much more, nor did he linger. He simply handed Xiaobao back to Xu Chaomu.
He fastened his scarf, hands tucked in his coat pockets, and walked out of the hospital.
Xu Chaomu stared at his departing figure for a long ti; he really had changed.
He was earnestly fulfilling his promise to cut ties. Next ti they t, he probably would hand her the signed divorce agreent.

She lowered her head, continuing to hold Xiaobao in her lap.
If not for the candy in her hand, she would have doubted whether everything that just happened was a dream.
“Daddy, Daddy…” Xiaobao looked left and right, not seeing Shen Chi. He beca anxious.
“Xiaobao, Daddy has so errands to run, he will be back soon,” Xu Chaomu soothed.
Xiaobao didn’t believe her, shouting “Daddy” loudly several tis. Failing to see Shen Chi, he broke into tears.
“Oh dear, crying again. Why are you so attached to him? Should Mommy find you a new daddy?” Xu Chaomu cooed.
Xiaobao was obstinate and didn’t understand what Xu Chaomu was saying. He just cried.
Xu Chaomu, feeling helpless, patiently comforted him.
“Daddy…” Xiaobao’s cries tore at the heart and were especially heartbreaking.
Xu Chaomu thought that if he continued to cry, she might have to call Shen Chi to co back.
This child, why was he so attached to Shen Chi?
“Alright, alright, let’s not cry. Daddy will be back later,” Xu Chaomu said sowhat helplessly.
But Xiaobao still cried for a long ti, stopping only when he was too tired to cry anymore.
People around them kept staring at the mother and son, making Xu Chaomu embarrassed enough to apologize to them incessantly.
That whole day, Xiaobao kept muttering “Daddy,” leaving Xu Chaomu feeling so helpless.
A few more days passed, and Xiaobao’s cold finally cleared up. Xu Chaomu checked the calendar; New Year’s Day was coming again.
Ti flew. She rembered last New Year’s Day, she was nestled in Shen Chi’s arms, watching fireworks…
Perhaps the luckiest thing was that her baby was still here.
Since then, Shen Chi hadn’t visited for a full month, one could even say there was no news from him at all.
Xu Chaomu grew more convinced that he must have gotten a girlfriend, but flipping through the news in C City, there were no scandals about him.
Xu Chaomu stopped bothering about it. She just went to work every day and taught Xiaobao so words.
The temperature in winter was very low, extrely cold, the kind of cold that made her want to curl up in bed and not even think about stepping out the door.
The north wind blew carrying dust and sand, which wrapped around leaves. The windows rattled loudly from the wind, and outside was sheer coldness.
One day, as she was ho preparing to make dumplings, suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
Xu Chaomu paused, her first thought unexpectedly being Shen Chi.
But she still asked, “Who is it?”
“Miss Xu.”
Xu Chaomu was startled. Who was this? The voice was unfamiliar, the tone stiff.
She was certain; this was not soone she knew.
It was dayti, so she wasn’t particularly afraid of anything.
