Chapter 1215: Chapter 1215: Can’t Be Seen by Mom
The little guy’s eyes lacked the usual sparkle, and Xu Chaomu’s heart ached watching him.
“Baby, it’s okay, you’ll be better in a few days. Then, Mumu will take you out for so yummy food, alright?” Xu Chaomu cooed, bending down to him.
Xiaobao remained silent, not uttering a single word.
He had been like this for several days now, initially just not talking, but after catching a cold, he even started avoiding people.
Xu Chaomu rushed around, getting him IV drips and injections. After several exhausting days, Xiaobao finally started to feel a little better.
She hadn’t been paying attention to the affairs of the Shen Group. Even if she had, she wouldn’t have understood them.
Besides, she was simply too tired, tired enough to fall asleep standing up at any given mont.
That morning, she wrapped a thick scarf around herself and queued in the hospital with Xiaobao.
Although Xiaobao’s cold had gotten much better, he still felt uncomfortable. Throughout the whole process, he didn’t cry, make a fuss, or laugh; he just lay still in Xu Chaomu’s arms.
Xu Chaomu was so heartbroken, “Baby, could you talk to Mumu? Mumu is so worried about you.”
Xiaobao simply closed his eyes, lips pressed tightly together, remaining quiet.
The way he pursed his lips was so much like soone else, showing that sa haughty charm.
Ignoring her, Xu Chaomu could only hold him and sit silently in the chair, waiting.
She was also exhausted, tired enough to want to sleep.
She leaned against the chair, holding Xiaobao with one arm and propping her head with the other.
Just as she was about to doze off in a daze, suddenly, a tall figure appeared before her.
The figure was wearing a long black coat, around his neck the scarf she had knit. Standing there, he had an aura that distinguished him from everyone else.
Even in her drowsy state, she knew without looking; it had to be him.
She thought she was dreaming; after all, he had promised her, no more entanglents.
At that mont, Shen Chi squatted down and touched Xiaobao.
Xu Chaomu finally opened her eyes fully, “Why are you here…”
Her voice was hoarse; she was too exhausted.
“Why are you at the hospital?” Shen Chi frowned.
“Xiaobao caught a cold, but he’s getting better,” Xu Chaomu said indifferently.
“You’re worn out like this.” Shen Chi also touched her forehead as he spoke.
Good, no fever, but she looked so listless, probably close to her limit.
“Why are you here…” Xu Chaomu repeated.
“Don’t worry, I’m not here to bother you,” Shen Chi said flatly.
Saying this, he took out several docunts from his briefcase.
“Sign here,” Shen Chi instructed, looking down.
“A divorce agreent?” That was Xu Chaomu’s first thought.
Shen Chi snorted coldly, “That’s all you think of.”
Xu Chaomu rubbed her eyes, “Then what is it?”
“Take a look for yourself!” Shen Chi handed over the docunts to her, and in the sa movent, gently lifted Xiaobao from her arms.
Xu Chaomu’s heart skipped a beat; she initially thought it was about splitting assets or child custody. However, once she looked at them, she was greeted by incomprehensible terms and stipulations.
Unrelated to life, yet related to the Group.
She didn’t understand docunts about the Group, flipping through several pages and still not comprehending.
Xiaobao woke up as Shen Chi held him; he too rubbed his eyes and gazed up at Shen Chi.
“Daddy!” Xiaobao called out in a sweet, milky voice.
Though it had been a long ti since they’d seen each other, he recognized Shen Chi imdiately, the handso uncle he liked to call “Daddy.”
Shen Chi was delighted, peppering Xiaobao’s face with kisses. He hadn’t expected Xiaobao to still recognize him.
Xu Chaomu looked up, and Xiaobao, who had been silent, was now exuding a spirited glow, with brightness radiating from his large eyes.
Could this be the legendary bond between father and son? Xu Chaomu felt a mix of envy, jealousy, and resentnt…
Xiaobao extended a tiny hand from the blanket wrapped around him and touched Shen Chi’s neck.
“Xiaobao, daddy is here, don’t catch a cold,” Shen Chi quickly stuffed his hand back into the blanket.
“Daddy…” Xiaobao called out again happily.
“Mhm!” Shen Chi responded with a laugh, kissing him.
Xiaobao was still the sa, not too fat or too skinny, but his eyes and brows had grown even more beautiful.
Xu Chaomu was montarily taken aback, her hand holding the docunts trembling faintly.
Does Xiaobao still recognize people the sa way? Or is it just a form of dependency?
“Daddy hasn’t co to see you for many days, have you missed Daddy?” Shen Chi asked patiently.
“Missed…” Xiaobao whispered softly.
“Be a good boy. Daddy has been quite busy recently and can’t visit you often,” Shen Chi said.
After speaking, he sighed. Maybe he wouldn’t be able to co see him at all in the future.
Backlit by the light, Xu Chaomu looked up at the father and son, and in that mont, her heart felt an indistinct pang of poignancy.
Shen Chi and Xiaobao rested their heads together; his smile was especially warm under the light, like the most dazzling morning sun in spring.
Xiaobao also smiled very happily, showing his little white teeth as he grinned.
“Daddy good…” Xiaobao nestled into Shen Chi’s embrace and cooed.
“Daddy is of course good,” Shen Chi laughed too.
Xu Chaomu’s hand grasping the docunts was exposed to the cold air, but she no longer felt the chill; she was just watching Shen Chi.
Xiaobao still missed Shen Chi; after all, the child had the blood of this man flowing within him…
“Wanna eat candy…” Xiaobao looked at Shen Chi with a cute expression.
Shen Chi furrowed his brow: “Little kids can’t eat candy, it will rot your teeth.”
“Wanna eat…”
“You can’t eat it, but sneaking a little is okay; just don’t let Mommy see. Otherwise, Daddy will get scolded,” Shen Chi coaxed gently.
Xiaobao didn’t understand what Shen Chi was saying, but he was very happy nonetheless.
Shen Chi looked around; there was a convenience store nearby. He thought he could take Xiaobao to buy a lollipop.
But he had to notify Xu Chaomu, since, after all, this was her son.
“Mumu, I’m going to take Xiaobao to buy so candy… You wouldn’t object, right?”
“Little kids shouldn’t eat candy,” Xu Chaomu frowned.
“It’s okay, it’s just to placate him.”
“Oh,” Xu Chaomu unexpectedly didn’t say much.
Shen Chi was sowhat unaccustod, she had agreed just like that? If it had been before, if he had done sothing like this, she would have perceived it as endangering her baby, fiercely protective.
Shen Chi curved his lips slightly and walked out the door.
The hospital was already buzzing with hushed conversations. Wherever Shen Chi went, he almost always beca the center of attention.
It seed that none of them could believe that a handso man driving a Maybach could be married to a woman who looked particularly haggard and even had a little child in tow.
Xu Chaomu too noticed their ill-intentioned stares, but what could she do? So people were just blessed with good genes.
Ignoring everyone else, Xu Chaomu lowered her head to flip through the docunts again.
She knew all the words, but when put together, she couldn’t understand a single sentence.
What is all this written about? It’s very official, very formal.
Why did they need her signature for the Group’s matters?
However, she suddenly rembered—she, Xu Chaomu, was currently the legal representative of Shen Group!
It had been a year since this happened; she had almost forgotten.
