"I think we should try to rest too," Adrian said. "We don’t know what kind of challenge we will have once we ascend to the next floor."
Iris agreed. Since she had given away her Revitalizing Drink to Xu Jiji, she felt considerably tired.
"Why don’t you take the bracelet from Jiji? You seem so tired," Adrian suggested.
"It’s fine."
Unlike Xi Huan and Yeo Haru who had taken such conspicuous locations to snore away, Iris chose a completely opposite area. She only laid her head down to take a light nap.
"Then I guess I’ll take it?" Adrian said.
"Can I borrow it instead?" Ayumi asked.
Rayen and Adrian glanced at her. Although she still looked beautiful nonetheless, her round eyes were already covered with black circles.
"Sure, sure. Take it, my lady," Adrian said.
Rayen scowled at Adrian’s response.
’What about ?’
"What? You drank one Revitalizing Drink. Look at her, she seed so exhausted. Aren’t you sympathetic to her?" Adrian said with one eyebrow raised.
’I haven’t even said anything.’
Sigh.
...
At the sa ti as the participants were having a peaceful rest, the staff mbers felt the opposite. The two Overseers, along with a curly-haired staff mber, surrounded the fidgety staff.
Their anxiety filled the air, heightening the tension even more.
"I can’t believe this," Plotter said. "So, you’re the one?"
Plotter held the woman’s phone, reading the content that she was just about to upload online.
[Navin: My lady, how about...]
[Navin: Oh sure, just make sure to pay with your body.
*****: You want to die?]
Wincing at the words he had just read, Plotter handed it over to the Director whose face darkened upon seeing the ssage screenshots. The entire ssages weren’t fully shown, so had been blurred out. Only Adrian’s stage na could be clearly seen and his ssages could only be described as filthy flowery.
For sure, once these images were leaked out, Adrian’s image would surely plumt from the viewer’s perspective. Thankfully, it was confiscated at the perfect ti, and it hadn’t been uploaded yet.
Closing the screen, the Director stared at the staff mber as she was forced to kneel in front of them. This was the sa staff mber that had given the cards to Rayen.
Finally, the Director opened her mouth.
"Why?" she asked. "Why did you upload that audio?"
The curly-haired staff mber looked at the two Overseers with dark eyes, the corner of it was already turning red. She let out a mocking laugh.
This was the very person that had uploaded the leaked audio recording, embellishing Rayen’s innocent na. Just as she was about to upload another controversy online, Mini Plotter had sensed the suspicious activity from this staff mber’s phone.
After the second private incident, Plotter had long been suspicious that there was a snitch inside the agency. His suspicion only grew when that heavily doctored audio recording was uploaded. That was when he increased Propagator’s online activity monitoring.
"Why? Overseers, can’t you guess it?"
The mont she asked that, the Director understood. She only pursed her lips and didn’t respond.
"It’s so unfair. Your favorites are the only ones reaping the benefits!" she shouted, looking at the other staff mbers surrounding them. "Isn’t that right?"
The others avoided her gaze.
"We all signed up for this show to give our loved ones chances to live again, but you didn’t even give the others the chance! You threw them all inside this bullshit show without preparation, and you expect them to do well? What about my sister?!"
Director remained tight-lipped.
"Then what about your favorites? That ugly red-haired and that filthy pervert! My sister’s better than them!"
"Then if she’s better, why can’t she even pass the audition? All the participants here have been given equal chances when the show started. If she can’t even pass the audition, that ans she just doesn’t have talents," Plotter said.
The curly-haired staff bit her lips.
"You just bought the sponsors!" she defended.
"You think so?"
"Then what? You think that plain looking guy was amazing? He couldn’t even dance shit when he started! If he didn’t even dye his hair, he might not even be noticed by anyone."
Instead of being offended by her words, Plotter only giggled. "Isn’t what you’re saying funny? What’s your sister’s na?"
"Helen..."
"Ah, I kind of rember her.. Isn’t she that woman who received one sponsor back then?"
Plotter’s words seed to have touched a sensitive spot on her wound. She gnashed her teeth as she looked at Plotter’s otherworldly but creepy smile.
"Shut up!"
"Am I right?" Plotter asked again, his smile widening.
"Stop it, Plotter."
The Director finally intervened. After Plotter shut his mouth in annoyance, the Director faced the curly-haired woman. Her face didn’t seem as stoic as before as she stared at the kneeling Entity sympathetically.
"We have made a pact before the show started, Kate. I thought all of us here have co to an agreent?" Director also glanced at the other staff mbers, asking them the sa question with her eyes. "Are there others who felt the sa as her?"
No one answered. Maybe soone did, or maybe no one. However, it wouldn’t change the outco. The other staff mbers gazed at Kate pitifully, while the others felt indignant. All of them had beco staff here with the sa reason as her.
What if her target had been the participants they had vouched for and not only Rayen and Adrian? If unfairness was her reason for doing this, what about those participants that could possibly beco her victims?
Suddenly, tears started dropping from the curly-haired staff mber’s eyes. "It’s so unfair... Why can’t my sister participate?"
Plotter mockingly answered her question, "I already told you."
"Shut up," Director said.
Plotter clicked his tongue in annoyance and turned his head away. "I can’t believe you’re even a Scribe. You rember the agreent, right? Those who breached the agreent will be stripped of their Entity rights."
Kate stared at Plotter full of hatred.
"You’re hereby stripped of your Scribe’s position."
With a swoosh of his hand, a crest appeared on Kate’s left chest. After another swoosh, the crest broke apart like a broken mirror.
This ti, the Director couldn’t intervene with Plotter’s actions. Although they were currently partners-in-cri in this show, Plotter was still the sa rank as her. They have different domains, and the staff in front of them was under Plotter’s jurisdiction.
If Plotter deprived her of her power as a Scribe, she would not only lose her status as an official Entity, she would also have no place in the world’s fate.
aning, they’re fateless. Those who’re fateless can’t be perceived by normal people. That was also why they wouldn’t be able to earn rits to prolong their lives.
However, Kate didn’t even flinch as though she was expecting this result right from the start.
"Good luck to you, then," Plotter said mockingly.
"Is that all, Overseer?"
"What?"
"I don’t need to be an official under you. In fact, I don’t even want a superior as bratty as you. How can you even beco an Entity with your attitude?"
Despite the woman’s mocking tone, Plotter only giggled. "Is that so?"
But Kate began to laugh heartily.
Plotter scowled. "What’s funny?"
Despite Kate’s exaggerated laughter, she still managed to say what she wanted. "Y-You, Overseer. Hahahahaha!"
The scowl on Plotter’s face deepened as she continued to laugh hard.
"Let’s see if you can still make the sa face when you find out what I did."
"What did you do?" Director asked, her face was already turning dark. She wasn’t a very patient person to begin with.
"You think that’s my second post? Did you forget I still have access to our clips?"
Plotter’s and Director’s faces hardened as her words reached their ears.
"I was just lucky to find those conversations. But think about it. If I can upload that leaked audio, why can’t I upload the others?" She then turned toward the clock at the wall. "Oh, look at the ti. It’s already done."
Plotter’s face almost turned white as a sheet. How could that happen? Propagator was supposed to intercept everything!
He was just about to grab her by the collar when she suddenly disappeared like a black smoke in front of them.
’Black smoke?’
However, there was no ti to ponder about it. They needed to address sothing else first.
