~Narrartor~

"We will need to study both a sealed and unsealed gate from the inside and the out."

"That can be arranged." Ezelreth responded.

"Okay, than what are we waiting for, let’s go." The Maiden clapped excitedly.

She could still feel the hunger in the pit of her stomach and wondered if this was what she’d feel for forever; or would this go away after so ti?

Either way she accepted that this was her life now. There was no going back now.

When they arrived at the gate, the shifters were tired, exhaustion weighed heavy, pressing down on them.

They did their best to conceal it, but Ezelreth could see it, and he felt nothing but disappointnt and disgust in their weakness.

The Crone set a bag down and the other two sisters circled around it, pulling out different instrunts, things neither the shifters nor Ezelreth and Violet have never seen. The were unique, odd in design and just as odd in function. One tool had a lense another looked like a scalpel, but jagged as much as it was sharp.

They examined the weygate inside and out taking notes and mumbling incoherent words between each other every so often. This went on for what felt like hours before they were finally ready to move to in the inside of the gate.

Repeating the sa process the sun would be past the midsky point of the day and would be closer to setting.

They moved to another gate from inside. The one closest to the rogue capital.

When the witches first laid eyes on the packs that laid hidden in the weylines, they were in complete bewildernt that sothing like this could exist in a different dinsion.

They had so many questions. How? When? For how long? How many rogues? They swirled around in their heads desperate for answers.

Walking into a den of wolves was sowhat terrifying, the witches knew about the plight between both vampires and shifters. How would this pack react to seeing three pureblooded vampires strolling through their streets? Ezelreth couldn’t care less, the drama between the races was beneath him, too low to show any concern.

"Where is your king?" Ezelreth strolled up to a guard.

Before answering the shifter straightened his body up, wanting to look professional, fearless. Despite his trembling legs. With what happened the last ti this girl was on the streets walking around.

The shifter gulped. "He’s in the pack house eting with so potential allies."

Ezelreth didn’t respond he just turned away and took the path that would lead to the pack house.

When they arrived Theoron was already waiting in the entryway.

"Welco back, is the problem solved, your majesty?" Rogue King Theoron asked anxiously.

"It’s in progress. I need two new shifters. These guys are tired. They need more endurance training. They’ll be fighting vampires and shifter that were born and bred for war and defense. If they want to live, they need to be better." Ezelreth t every word, if they disappointed him, even if they survived the war, they wouldn’t survive him.

"I’ll see to it right now. Are you leaving again?" Theoron asked, he didn’t want to ask too many questions, but he wanted Ezelreth to stand with him during war etings. It made him feel more powerful.

"Yes." Ezelreth was flat.

When The Mother laid eyes on Theoron her heart nearly leapt from her chest. His red hair and strong thick beard ignited sothing inside her. When watched him intensely. Thinking to herself, ’When this is all over, I’m going to have a piece of that.’

Being a vampire gave them all a sense of freedom they’ve never known. Having always been restricted to the rules of the coven. They felt they were above it now. Unburdened by the bottomless expectations.

Theoron pretended not to notice one of the attractive won with Ezelreth couldn’t keep her eyes off him. But he did, and it set his groin on fire. Burning with need.

His wolf was pacing in his mind ready to ravage the witch.

When the second set of shifters, ca replacing the other two that originally left him, they set out for the sealed weygates.

The Crone stopped before they got out the door and suggested, "You send a scout party to try and locate the other weygates."

Ezelreth paused and turned back the entryway "Theoron, do as she ntioned, find out what gates are sealed, do it by the ti we get back." His order carried a finality too it, Ezelreth didn’t need to verbalize his threat, his tone and words were enough, even coming from Violet’s sweet voice.

The road to the nearest sealed weygate was long. And without a sun or a moon to guide their understanding of ti, the witches struggled to get their bearings because of it.

Ti ticked by slowly and silence filled the space surrounding them. It was uncomfortable, but it wasn’t enjoyable either. It made their travel feel drastically longer. Each second stretch for what felt like eternity.

The witches noticed how this gate look different from the last and wondered if the sa could be said about all the gates. Where they all different? The Maiden pulled out her notebook and jotted that down.

The Maiden sketched out every detail on the gate, paying close attention to the runes and the language used.

Language of the spirits. Words of the gods.

They pulled out their tools and this ti ingredients for a spell, one Ezelreth didn’t recognize.

Drawing a chalks sigil in front of the gate The Crone said to Ezelreth. "Take my two sisters to the other side of this gate. They’ll know what to do."

Ezelreth looked at one of the shifters and said, "Let’s go."

They escorted the two sisters back to the closet open gate, which was the one near their coven.

"Getting to the other side of that gate, based on the map, is going to take a while. Should we use the stones and travel by fairy rings?" The Maiden asked, desperately wanting to avoid such a long, dreadful walk.

"Yes." The Mother glanced over the shifter. "It will probably upset their stomachs."

The Maiden laughed and asked the shifters, "Did you eat recently?"

The shifter shook his heads no.

"Good this will probably make you puke or shit your pants."

Ezelreth opened the weygate and walked through it.

Doing as they planned, The Mother pulled out a stone from their bag and stepped inside the circle.

"Alright everyone, step in, and hold tight."

Ezelreth had never traveled by fairy rings before, this spirit magic was always kept at fingertips distance from him.

Standing in front of the gate The Maiden noticed it was the sa as the gate inside, but flipped in reverse, like it was mirroring the dinsion.

And now she understood why the old Crone had sent her and The Mother to the other side of the gate. Because the gate is a reflection. And basically, they’d need to uncloak it.

The witches investigated the gate, testing their theories on the magic used.

"This is powerful stuff."

"Ancient. I know."

"We still have that dead fae wings and blood, don’t we? Back at the coven?" The Maiden asked wanting to clarify the accuracy of her mory.

"We have the blood but not the wings. However, we do have a few scales from a siren. That could work." The Mother answered pondering her own response and its validity.

They took their ti reviewing the spell the other coven used and the ingredients in making it. One in particular they’d never seen before. It dumbfounded them.

But Ezelreth took one look at what the witches had written and frowned when he saw what was written. The raw untainted ingredient.

He knew instantly what it was and who it belonged too.

"That devil in mans flesh." Ezelreth growled.

"Those damn witches used a Leviathan scale?" He scread angrily.

"Those filthy witches!" Breaking this spell wasn’t going to be easy, and now he knew the extent of it.

The Maiden and The Mother stared at one another. A Leviathan scale.

Impossible. It only barters in flesh, and never its own. The witches knew of it, but the idea of a beast with knowledge like what it has, and knowing the cost could be anything from a leg to sex, it wasn’t sothing anyone would seek out unless they had too.

So how did these witches get their hands on the beasts scale?

"I don’t know if what we have in stock is strong enough to break this spell."

"You do..." Ezelreth growled "I’ll make sure of it..."
