~AMBROSE’S POV~

I woke up with dread deep in my chest. I was DREADING the eting I would be calling today.

"Beta Damon, I need you to call a eting with council. It’s important, after you summon the mbers, et in the council room." I reached Damon through the channel.

"I’ll make it happen Alpha."

I looked at my princess sleeping peacefully next to . She would be the only part of today that wasn’t an absolute dread. He soft lashes flutter against her cheek. Her mouth slightly ajar, a soft snore escaped with each breath. She slept so deep and it was all I could do to pull myself out of bed and away from her warmth and sweet scent.

Phera was curled up on her own little dog bed. Made of soft velvet and high grade goose feathers.

A fox that sleeps on a goose.

I hop in the shower and get ready. When I returned to the room, my breakfast was sitting at the table in her human skin and the damned fox was sitting in front of it, eating it.

"What do you think you’re doing, you sly little beast?"

"Eating, what does it look like?" She answered without even looking up.

She was getting on my nerves; I miss when she was just a quiet fox pup minding its own business.

"Yeah, my breakfast." I growled.

"Guess you should order a second." She rebutted.

"I guess you might need your own room, now that I know you have human skin, I don’t want you sleeping in the sa room as ."

"Fine by . Make it feel like a forest, or I won’t sleep there, I’ll stay here." She never stopped eating, just kept picking away at my plate, like it was hers.

"The council is assembling; I’ll et you in the council room." Damon told through the channel.

"On my way." I answered.

"Let’s go." I ordered her and turned on my heel leaving the room.

I take one look back to see the enchanting beauty asleep on my bed.

When we arrived in the room Damon looked in disbelief at the woman beside .

"Uh... Um... Alpha... That’s... Not a shifter..." Damon stumbled over his words.

"No, mortal, I am a spirit. I live in the realm of gods. I co with good cause." Phera spoke so formally it was cringy to my ears.

She really was ancient.

"You brought a spirit? An actual spirit? Into a eting with a room full of shifters? Is that a good idea?" Damon asked without holding back.

"Yes. She is welco as my guest. I need a room made up for her, as well. After this eting." I answered.

"Where the hell did you even co from?" He looked at her staring with awe and suspicion.

"That matters not. What matters is what information I bring with and who I speak for." Damon couldn’t believe soone would speak in my presence like this.

"You’ve gotten a lot more lenient about disrespect in your presence."

"She’s here with a mission from the moon goddess, Artemis. And who are we to deny an audience to an emissary of the moon herself." I was making her status well known instantly, I needed to solidify her right to speak before the council.

And with Damons known ability to hear lies, him being familiar with her will be crucial for how smooth this eting will go.

"What’s the eting about, your majesty?" He asked now.

"We will be making an alliance with the vampires." I spoke curtly, the displeasure clear in my voice.

"WHAT!?" Damon shouted louder than I think even he expected.

"You heard ." I sounded as sour as he looked.

"Why?" He askesd.

"I will explain all that can be revealed now." Phera answered.

"Odette. As you’ve been sensing she’s changed, her power, he deanor. That’s why. She’s the MoonChild. She’s Artemis’ daughter. Odette, she’s a deity, not just the Princess of Darkness. Now wipe that shocked look off your face before Phera catches on." I told him through the channel. I didn’t want to keep my beta in the dark. Not on sothing as important as this, as well as a friend to Odette.

"You just expect to just be all cool with that kind of news being dropped on like that? You’re kidding ?" Damon practically scread in the channel.

"No, I’m not."

"Fuck, Ambrose, we kidnapped a goddess." I could see cold sweats building on his face. He gulped when he looked over to Phera.

"She’s the fox that’s been following Odette around." I could see him trying to piece together her part in all this.

"Fuck." He accidentally said out loud.

"You speak too soon Ambrose. So secrets are not yours to share." Phera got snippy.

"And I will remind you, Phera, regardless of your mission, you are in my kingdom, under the ruling of the first wolf. You will rember that when we begin the eting. This secret is MY scret to share, more than it’s yours to decitate. It is who will stand beside during the final battle NOT you." I growled, releasing a strong dose of my Alpha aura.

Damon dropped to his knees, and I could see Phera felt the pull down as well. Her face hardened. But then a smirk start creeping up her cheeks. "Ah, I see the real beast inside you is awakening. Or that explosion of aura wouldn’t have affected ."

"You’re confusing sotis." I groaned.

"I’m a spirit older than your packs existence, I doubt I’d be easy to understand." She laughed.

"This is crazy. This was not how I pictured my Thursday starting." Damon said.

"So, you’re really proposing an alliance with the sa people who murdered your mother and father?" I asked in a way that seed more cautious than normal.

"History will repeat itself; this alliance has to be made. So shit is going to go down and we need them, like it or not."

Phera turned her head toward the door and she shifter back to her fox form in a puff of smoke.

Her transformations were different all the ti, I noticed.

"They’re arriving now." Damon told .

Phera hopped up on my desk at the front of the eting room, her tail flopping on the table softly.

We take our seats when the room began filling up with warm bodies of Alpha and Beta ranked shifters.

"This is awfully short notice your majesty. What could be so import..." One of the council mbers paused mid sentence when they noticed the white fox sitting on the table next to .

"What is that?" Another council mber asked.

Before I could answer. Mist filled the room and a blinding flash of light exploded next to .

And where a fox once sat was now a woman standing next to .

Murmurs and gasps circulated the room.

"What just happened?"

"What is she?"

"Is this so kind of joke?"

"Alpha King Ambrose, what is the aning of this."

"I am here with a ssage from your creator, Artemis, Goddess of the Moon and of the Hunt." Phera’s voice echoed in the room, power reverberated off her voice, and it shook everyone in the room, including .

"And who are you, forgive , but we haven’t been introduced, how do we know you speak."

"General Morrison, you are to shut that useless fucking hole in your face, I’ll have our witch sew it up." I growled at him.

His silence and obedience were imdiate.

As it should be.

"I am Phera, the Spirit Guardian of the Altay Mountain, ssenger for Goddess Artemis." She spoke with unwavering confidence and a strong air of strength about her.

"Phera, how do we know you are who you say?" Another council mber was skeptical.

I saw her smirk, like she was waiting for this question.

What I saw next took my breath away. With a cloud of mist and magic that glittered in the air, she transitioned again.

This ti what stood tall and magnificent was an 8 tailed fox with fur that glistened like moonlight with streaks of silver decorating her white fur, forming mystical patterns all over her.

She was a truly stunning creature in her true form.

"Is this enough for you?" she spoke not aloud, but inside all of our minds.

It was eerie feeling her presence in my head, sharing the sa channel as my pack.

The room was stunned silent. Awe stretched across everyone’s face as the realization settled in.

They all bowed their head in submission to her.

"Now that I have your attention, I bring word from our Goddess."
