Chapter 670: Chapter 436 Queen Matthaios_2

The other party led the female guard forward with large strides and warmly placed her hand on Chen Lun’s shoulder, gesturing towards the door behind her.

“Welco to the ‘Thorn Settlent.’ Her Majesty the Queen is inside.”

“Thank you for your help, Lady Orianna.”

Chen Lun took off his hat and smiled in thanks.

“Is this the etiquette of you surface n? It feels quite nice.”

Orianna laughed as she led the way ahead.

“Don’t ntion it. The only reason I am helping you is because of Bales… Her Majesty likes sweets. Later, you could offer so of the things I’ve prepared for you; she will be very pleased.”

“Thank you.”

Chen Lun thanked her again, but Orianna simply waved her hand dismissively.

Soon, he entered the inner part of the “Thorn Settlent.”

The streets here were wider compared to those of the “Root Settlent,” but they were still very basic. Many scantily clad won were busy in front of the residences. Seeing Lady Orianna pass by, they all knelt and paid their respects.

Chen Lun paid no attention to this and calmly followed Orianna.

Monts later, they arrived at a two-story building deep in the settlent.

“How about that, isn’t it magical? A building with two floors is unique to our ‘Thorn Settlent’ in the eastern territories, usually serving as a eting hall and occasionally used to welco distinguished guests.”

Lady Orianna introduced, with a tone slightly tinged with pride.

Chen Lun stared at the rough two-story building in front of him, finding it quite interesting.

Throughout his journey in the Land of Matthaios, he noticed that the residents almost all lived in bungalows. Indeed, as Orianna had said, such buildings were exceedingly rare.

He didn’t ridicule Orianna, as he could understand that the Matthaios people had been trapped underground for thousands of years, many of their traditions and technologies had long since disappeared, even regressing to sothing akin to primitive society.

Indeed, Chen Lun sowhat sympathized with them.

“It truly is quite impressive, Lady Orianna.”

Chen Lun smiled and nodded, complinting the architecture.

Lady Orianna was very pleased. She quickly pulled Chen Lun to the door and said to the female guard,

“The person the Queen wants to see has arrived, go and report that.”

Two heroic won with high ponytails scrutinized Chen Lun, then with indifference, they nodded, turned, and walked into the building.

They soon ca out again and said to Orianna,

“The Queen allows him to enter, but only him alone.”

Orianna seed unsurprised. She nodded, then made a gesture behind her, and her attendant brought forward a handcrafted wooden box.

She handed it to Chen Lun and whispered,

“These are rare ‘iberry fruits’ from the Land of Matthaios, nine in total, gathered with much effort. Rember to give them to Her Majesty… Go ahead.”

“Thank you.”

Chen Lun nodded, took the wooden box, and entered the building.

In the hall was a stone round table. At the head sat a white-haired woman, her appearance refined, especially her eyes—light blue pupils conveying a sense of nobility yet indifference.

“Queen Caplan.”

Chen Lun put away the Silver Staff and removed his black hat, bowing slightly.

The Queen let her gaze rest on him for a few seconds, then nodded and gestured with her hand.

“Sit, guest from the surface.”

Chen Lun noticed that the Queen’s clothes were quite simple, just a milky white hemp robe. Her exposed hands bore a tattoo of a black Sun.

It suddenly seed very familiar to him, as if he had seen it sowhere before.

Once Chen Lun sat down, the Queen spoke again,

“I have heard of your matters from Orianna, Jack… Why do you wish to et with ?”

Chen Lun didn’t expect her to be so direct, but he quickly responded.

“Your Majesty, the Mystic Realm on the surface has no records of the Land of Matthaios, which is why I was so shocked when I inadvertently arrived here…”

Queen Caplan nodded.

“Since over four thousand years ago, when the continent collapsed and fell, we have been trapped here… This is the Sun God’s punishnt for us sinners, naturally erasing our existence.”

“Your Majesty, may I know… why the Sun God would punish you?”

Chen Lun continued.

The Queen wasn’t angered, her gaze calmly fell on Chen Lun, and she slowly spoke,

“Because our ancestors did not worship the Sun God… but revered the ‘Dragon of Light.'”

“Dragon of Light…”

Chen Lun was slightly startled.

He recalled the ti he led the investigation team exploring the Dark World, where they had seen a monunt that recorded so deities from the early Fourth Era.

Beyond Destiny, Nature, and the True Magic God, there had also been ntions of “Dragon of Light” and “King of Giants.”

“My father once said that the Sun needs only one… The Dragon of Light, having many similarities in authority, hence a divine battle had occurred between them.”

Queen Caplan narrated the mythological past indifferently.

“The ultimate outco was that the Dragon of Light fell, and my father beca the only Sun God in the world…”

From the Queen’s brief description, Chen Lun seed to see the apocalyptic scenes of that ti as his breathing involuntarily slowed.

At the sa ti, he rembered the dark red celestial body at the end of darkness and the remnants of words in his mind…

‘Perhaps, apart from the ancient god ‘Dragon of Light,’ there was also the true god of the Black Sun Pathway, ‘Profound Mother,’ who had been annihilated by the Sun God… If it was as I speculated, just how powerful was the Sun God, my father?!’

Chen Lun felt a profound shock.

“In ancient tis, to combat the supernatural creatures and powerful civilizations of the continent, surface humans united and established the Anita Kingdom. Later, they even communicated with the starry sky to obtain divine powers from beyond, giving rise to the ‘Starry Sky God Church,’…”

Queen Caplan continued smoothly.

“However, more than four thousand years ago, ‘Starry Sky God Church’ had internal strife, and the Anita Kingdom crumbled. Our branch of people, as punishnt from the Sun God, fell underground… Do you know why this place is called ‘Land of Matthaios’? It is because at that ti, the royal family of Anita was mainly composed of three clans: Tresor, Matthaios, and Hilbert… Our ancestors were the direct lineage of the Matthaios Clan.”

“So that’s the case.”

Chen Lun suddenly realized.

“Jack, tell about the surface world,”

the Queen suddenly asked.

“Are the humans on the continent still harried by supernatural creatures and other civilizations?”

Chen Lun thought for a mont, shook his head, and said solemnly:

“The surface is now unified under the Empire, ruled by the Sun Royal Family. Moreover, the presence of the Seven Righteous God Churches suppresses the whole territory… Supernatural creatures hardly exist except in the Spirit World, and other civilizations have long vanished in the river of history.”

The Queen stared blankly in deep thought.

After a long mont, She smiled slightly.

Chen Lun was stunned by Her smile; in that mont, Queen Caplan seed to possess an ineffable charm.

“The Sun Royal Family?”

the Queen asked imdiately afterward.

“Yes, the Tresor Family that worships the Sun God, my father…”

Chen Lun explained.

Queen Caplan’s eyes narrowed, and She abruptly said:

“Andre Tresor, has He fallen?”

“No… the Sun King still rules over the Empire.”

Chen Lun answered truthfully.

The Queen took a deep breath and muttered:

“Over four thousand years… It’s unimaginable that our ancestors from the sa Anita civilization now rule over the contemporary surface civilization, basking in flowers and sunlight, while we are trapped underground, forever without daylight.”

She shook her head in self-mockery.

“Not only did father abandon us here, but He also sent a ‘Gatekeeper’ to guard the only path to the surface… The people of Matthaios are unwilling; a hundred years ago, the previous four Queens jointly attempted to storm ‘The Great Gate’ but failed and returned. It was not the first attempt, but I’ve long known that for the Land of Matthaios to return to the surface, we must seek father’s forgiveness… Other thods offer little hope.”

After a long pause,

Queen Caplan raised her head and asked solemnly:

“Jack, I would like to ask you for a favor.”

“Please speak, Your Majesty.”

Chen Lun said politely.

“If you find any of our ‘Descendants of Light’ on the surface, please help them as much as possible. The residents of the east and I, will surely repay your kindness.”

Queen Caplan raised her hand, revealing the black sun imprint on the back of her hand.

“This is the symbol of the ‘Descendants of Light’; they have established a secret organization on the surface, known as ‘Solar Cross Society’.”

Chen Lun was montarily stunned.

The image of the Silver Dragon Witch flashed through his mind.

‘That’s right! Noah’s mother, the Witch Her Majesty, also has such an imprint on her hand…’
