Chapter Thirty-Two: The King in Yellow

In the night market, everyone gazed at Lu Yu with a sense of awe.

No one considered Xu Jiuzhou a fool; such actions could only an that he knew the identity of the man before him. Perhaps he was a core mber of a large organization, or even a Morning Star powerhouse!

When this possibility crossed their minds, no one dared to spy on or gossip about Lu Yu. The entire market maintained an air of silence.

Beside him, Xu Xiaoqing wiped the sweat from her forehead and said excitedly,

“Big Boss, you actually scared them away! Did you predict this would happen? That’s why you’re so calm…”

Lu Yu, of course, ignored the chatter, remaining silent.

Though no response ca, Xu Xiaoqing’s face was filled with admiration.

This was the true definition of a boss—unfazed by the collapse of a mountain before him, unaffected by the stir of wind. This saying truly described the man in front of her.

But wait, the Xu family fled in panic, so it wasn’t a mountain, just a small hill!

The level of this boss was beyond what ordinary people could comprehend!

Calm as still water, no storm could stir even the slightest ripple.

Yet, why did he want to buy my notes? Perhaps because his knowledge was so profound that he needed to teach the younger generation with simpler, more vulgar concepts?

Yes, it must be that way. She was so envious of the person who would be ntored by such a powerhouse; surely, they were a dragon among n!

Lu Yu, however, looked sowhat perplexed as he noticed Xu Xiaoqing’s admiration.

In truth, he didn’t even understand why the Xu family retreated. If they had all rushed at him, he might have had no choice but to retreat as well, waiting for the fear bubble to pop before launching a counterattack.

But to his surprise, they seed to have mistaken him for soone from a large organization, causing them to flee with apologies.

This whole “pretentious” and “slap in the face” scenario wasn’t going according to script!

He did act pretentious, but where was the slap in the face?

Lu Yu inwardly complained. He also realized that no matter which direction he went, the crowd parted, leaving him unable to do any transactions.

“I ca here to buy things, not to chase people away!”

Sighing in frustration, he realized that if he stayed in the night market any longer, these people would simply refuse to sell anything to him.

At least he managed to walk away with a handful of books and a quirky young girl in tow. Though she seed goofy, her knowledge appeared to be vast.

Sotis, “free gifts” could turn out to be good.

Since no one was willing to sell him anything, Lu Yu decided it was ti to leave. As he turned to walk away, the gatekeeper who had led him in approached, his deanor respectful as he spoke:

“Sir, our night market’s owner wishes to et with you.”

The owner of the night market?

Why would he want to et ?

Though he didn’t know the reason, Lu Yu had no objections and was curious enough to follow.

With a slight nod, he said softly,

“Alright.”

“Please, follow ,” the gatekeeper said, his body trembling with excitent as he began leading the way.

Xu Xiaoqing hesitated for a mont, then grabbed a few of the most valuable items from a stall and hurriedly followed.

The others, seeing Lu Yu leave, breathed a collective sigh of relief. The atmosphere in the market quickly returned to normal.

“That almost scared to death!”

A burly man with a cow mask patted his chest, comnting,

“This mysterious man in yellow is just too enigmatic. Even without saying a word, I felt like sothing heavy was pressing on my chest. I could barely breathe.”

A companion in a rat mask agreed,

“Who would’ve thought that a simple night market would bring such an exciting scene? I noticed earlier that the shadowy energy around him transford into a black veil, almost like the lord of the night. Coupled with his yellow robes, he resembled…”

The man paused, struggling to find the right words to describe this mysterious figure. Proud, calm, wise, almost like a king who had control over everything.

Suddenly, he snapped his fingers, his eyes lighting up with realization.

“He can be called… the King in Yellow!”

anwhile, Lu Yu, who had no idea his new moniker had just been upgraded to the King in Yellow, was completely unaware.

Had he known, he might have had a headache. The King in Yellow was a title belonging to a famous evil god from his previous life—Hastur.

Originating from the Cthulhu Mythos, Hastur was one of the great Old Ones, second only to the insane god Azathoth and the three Pillars. In so mythologies, he even represented the wind elent.

This evil god’s hallmark was his yellow robes, carrying with them an aura of madness and chaos. Anyone who summoned him would inevitably face a bad end!

In this world, where evil gods and mysticism existed and fate intertwined, sharing a na with such a god might not bode well.

As the common awakened ones were fervently discussing, Lu Yu, following the gatekeeper, left the open area and entered a traditional Chinese courtyard.

With a creak, the courtyard gate opened, revealing a stone table beneath a large peach tree.

Sitting on a stone bench was a middle-aged man in a traditional Chinese robe. Across from him were the fox-masked, white-haired man and the big man with the geisha mask.

The two were outsiders, so the man in the robe must be the owner of the night market!

As the gate opened, their gazes all converged on Lu Yu.
