The night wind, carrying a biting chill, surged into the Fox Clan palace situated midway up the mountain column.

Although it can’t compare to the grandeur of the Demon Imperial Palace at the peak, this place still embodies the rugged style of the Demon Court.

Robust support columns crafted from dark blue crystal stones prop up the entire hall, and above hangs a plaque inscribed in the language of the Demon Race, reading "Fox King Palace."

Inside the spacious great hall, human soldiers stripped of their armor lie in rows.

At this mont, they are lying on their backs on the ground, with serene expressions.

The Fox Clan even allows them to maintain the sa posture, with hands crossed over their abdons and arranged according to height.

The ones on the outer edge are taller and sturdier, mostly n, while those inside are shorter and frailer, predominantly won.

From the entrance, the rows stretch further inward, seemingly without end.

With just a quick glance, Chen Yi could calculate their numbers—up to thirty-one thousand two hundred and two.

"Over thirty thousand human soldiers..."

Looking at the rows of soldiers, Chen Yi couldn’t suppress the icy killing intent that surged within him.

These soldiers are intended to be used by the Barbarian Emperor to threaten the Human Race, or rather, to use them as leverage against him.

Even though he had anticipated as much and prepared for the worst, witnessing the soldiers before him still stirred a sense of unrest in his heart.

Not for any other reason but this thought—if he cannot rescue these people from the Demon Court, then in the battle, the Barbarian Emperor will surely use this to coerce him.

At that ti, can he still hold true to his previous thoughts and preserve himself to attempt to annihilate the Demon Court?

Could he truly remain indifferent as these human soldiers are slaughtered by demons one by one?

The answer is unknown.

Chen Yi only knows these soldiers represent more than just themselves; they also stand for their families, friends, and fellow sect mbers.

Even if he is unwilling to sacrifice himself to rescue these soldiers, under the sway of great circumstances, others will push him.

Perhaps those people are even more proactive than the demons of the Barbarian Emperor’s Demon Court.

This is not about reason but human nature.

After a mont of distraction, Chen Yi regained his composure, took a deep breath, his gaze gradually becoming clear.

"The Buddhist sect says ’saving a life is better than building a seven-tiered pagoda,’ and there have been monks who cut flesh to save people, sacrificing their lives."

"Confucianism says ’man has but one death, either heavier than Mount Tai, or lighter than a feather.’ Such a sacrifice to save tens of thousands of soldiers could make thousands of kin grateful, perhaps those Confucian Saints could do so."

"But I am a Taoist disciple, versed in the Slaughter Sword Dao—kill one person, slay one demon, stopping killing through killing, that is my path!"

Thinking thus, Chen Yi’s Sword Dao remains flawlessly complete.

However, he has not given up on rescuing these human soldiers.

He just has so concerns now; after all, these soldiers are in Fox Baji’s palace.

If the soldiers are taken away from the Demon Court, even if Fox Baji wouldn’t die, perhaps their Fox Clan would still be implicated.

After pondering for a mont, a vague idea ca to Chen Yi’s mind, but the thought was too risky.

At this ti, two Fox Clan won walked out from the palace, looked up to assess him, and then nodded calmly:

"Follow us inside, the Ancestor is waiting for you."

Chen Yi nodded gently and followed them into the hall, heading deep inside.

From the outside, he appeared quite large, yet entering this palace he still didn’t feel constrained, showcasing the palace’s vastness.

Even as he walked among the human soldiers lying flat beneath him, he didn’t feel any crowding.

"These human soldiers..."

Before Chen Yi could inquire, the two Fox Clan won leading him interrupted:

"Don’t ask what you shouldn’t inquire about; this is the abode of our Fox Clan Ancestor, not that of your Wood Demon Ancestor."

Wood Demon Ancestor?

Chen Yi suddenly thought of the Wood Demon guarding outside the Sky Do, possessing powers of Divine Skills at the eighth level, presumably what the two Fox Clan won referred to.

With this in mind, Chen Yi ceased further inquiry and followed them through the hall, arriving at the deep stone steps, ascending along the stairs.

During this, he did not see any other Fox Clan figures, and even the Heart God Perception he cautiously released found nothing, rendering the vast palace eerily silent.

The empty staircase only echoed their footsteps.

Before long, Chen Yi followed the Fox Girl to the top of the palace, where his gaze fell upon a figure dressed in bright red robes—overall human-like, with a fluffy, pure white tail behind, much like Half-demon Princess Xiao Lan.

Upon seeing him, the two Fox Girls halted their steps and bowed:

"Ancestor, the demon you awaited has arrived."

"Hm, leave.

The figure facing away from them signaled the Fox Girls to leave upon hearing.

After they departed, the figure turned around; it had a handso, demonic face, skin like jade, eyes long and spirited, pupils bright and luminous, seemingly containing another kind of Divine Skills.

Though not tall, the figure’s imposing presence did not diminish at all.

To put it into words, it would be akin to the first ti Chen Yi t Ancestor Hong Tian.

As Chen Yi assessed Fox Baji, Fox Baji similarly observed him.

Precisely speaking, it wasn’t re observation, but rather probing Chen Yi’s appearance and figure using Divine Power and Divine Will.

Yet the outco was quite unexpected—it couldn’t see through Chen Yi’s Transformation Technique, even with its Charming Eye Divine Power at the eighth level.

After a mont.

Fox Baji spoke, "Pan Mu, sit down and let’s talk."
