I stood before the magnificent hall of Royale Hotels. This was an exquisite dinner hall, and it was one of the most sought-after in the entire country. Many people chose to hold their events here mainly because of the status it provided and the paparazzi that ca with it. You had to be a big deal to host an event at The Royale and the tabloids just ate it all up.

As I stood at the entrance of the hall, I admired my creation. It had taken months of preparation but slowly it was all coming together. Getting this rehearsal dinner in place had been one of the hardest things I've done so far because while it wasn't the actual dinner, there were still a lot of people with all sorts of characters who could ruin it. And it was up to to make sure that the troublemakers were as far away from each other as possible.

With a smile, I walked through the huge doors. Stepping into the hall was like stepping into a gold castle. The ceiling was high and an exquisite chandelier dangled from it. It was spinning slowly, giving one the impression that the golden light it shed was revolving around the room. There were tables and chairs arranged perfectly to allow free movent, and each table had a set of nas, showing where each person would sit.

Only fifty people were expected at the rehearsal dinner, but for so reason, it felt like it was going to be more work than the actual dinner that would host over 150 people. For Kira and Jace, this dinner was actually to cater to the most elite of the city, people who were too big to rub shoulders with those who would turn up on the day of the main dinner. The more I thought about it, the more I felt my head was going to explode.

I fished into my purse and pulled out my small walkie talkie which I held to my mouth, "Susan, where the hell is my cake?" I barked, "and tell Austin that if dessert is not on display within the next thirty seconds I'll be biting his ear off."

As I walked through the neat rows of chairs and tables, nodding my head, I frowned at a young lady who was carrying a napkin.

"What the hell are you doing standing around?" I demanded, "The lights on the east side of the hall were blinking and I hate it, call the engineer to fix them. And tell him that if so much as a single bulb goes off during this dinner, I'll poke his eyes out with his screwdriver."

As the terrified lady ran off, I stood at the center of the hall, the designs that I had painstakingly put together were impressive. Even I couldn't deny it. There were beautiful curtains draping right from the ceiling and down to the floor. Golden ribbons spread from one part of the hall to the other, they had strung along them a beautiful arrangent of lights. Hidden behind a curtain, a life band was playing soft music.

They would play for the entire dinner, a treat that had been specifically demanded by Leo.

Now, as I looked around, I couldn't see how anything could go wrong. Everything was done perfectly. But then, I knew better than others how even the best-laid plans could co up with issues. It was always happening. And I was certain that sothing would go off the rails tonight as well. It was up to though to be prepared for whatever it may be.

Just then, I heard so commotion from outside and the security agents began to scurry about as if sothing was about to happen. However, I knew at once what was going on; Jace had arrived. I swallowed at once, rembering his searing kiss from earlier in the day. I wasn't ready to set eyes on him just yet.

I turned and hurried to the far end of the hall, past the live band who were still singling softly. A door opened into a small room where Kira sat. She was busy on her phone, dressed in the sa beautiful gown. When she saw , she smiled.

"My God..." she gasped. "You're so beautiful. Are you sure you're not going to take my place as the bride?"

I glanced at the small mirror fixed to the wall. It was a dark blue dress that fit my fra beautifully. If there was one thing I made sure I never slacked on, it was my fashion sense. I was always up to date on fashion because it would always be one of the best ways I advertise my brand. If I was going to be the top event planner in the city, I had to look like it.

I nodded at my reflection in the mirror, liking what I saw. The gown was cut off at the shoulders. It gripped my bosom firmly, and even though it looked like it was going to fall off, it clung snugly to my fra. That was the beauty of it. Nothing about it was tight, but it was balanced on my body.

"I heard that the Mayor and the Chief of Police are on their way," Kira said, returning to her phone. "They're probably following each other's convoy. Those two really love to show off."

"Well, they're currently at the top of the food chain in their respective fields, don't you think they deserve to show off?" I asked.

She only shrugged, "we shouldn't have any problem with them. The only person I'm scared of right now is Steve, and I just can't shake the feeling that he's going to try sothing nasty."

"Co on, he knows that there will be reporters here. Anything he does might affect his company negatively. I don't think he would want such heat on himself."

"That could be correct, what about Jace's side chic? What if he decides to do sothing stupid, like bringing her to the dinner?"

Here we go again! Since our conversation back in her hotel room where I made that slip, I had been avoiding the topic of Jace and his "side chic" altogether. I didn't trust myself not to blurt out my feelings for him. When she had demanded to know how I knew that Jace wasn't fucking his side chic yet, I had to think quickly on my feet.

"Co on..." I had said feverishly. "I don't think he would do such a thing to you so close to your wedding."

That had satisfied her, and we left the matter. I was happy to leave it behind until she brought it up again. But this ti, I said nothing, choosing to ignore her words instead and focus on scrolling through my phone. I was checking to see if the engineer had fixed the lights as asked.

Kira suddenly dropped her phone on the table beside her with a loud clang, she looked at .

"I don't think I care anymore." She said suddenly. "Jace can be with anyone he wants to be with and I too can be with anyone I want. It's gonna be an open marriage."

I looked up at her, daring to hope, "Are you sure about this?"

"Of course," she replied.

"So, you won't care who the... uhm... who the side chic is?" I prodded, "What if it's soone you know?"

She thought about that, "Well, let's just hope it's not. Anyway, my decision stands. Jace can choose to be with whoever he wants to be with. I'm at a point where I don't care anymore."

I looked at her, I had to stop myself not to smile at her. She didn't know it yet, but she had basically given her blessing to date Jace. If she wasn't against him seeing soone else, then she may be a bit more accepting when she finds out I'm the one he's seeing.

Just then, there was a light knock and the door pushed open a crack, a fair head popped in and we stared at Lucy's smiling face. She glanced at Kira, "Your Uncle Leo is asking after you, he needs to talk to you about sothing."

At that, both of us stood up. I checked my watch, the dinner was going to start officially in a few minutes. I made my way to the door and looked out. In the short ti that I had been in the room with Kira, the hall had filled up with our guests and the live band was already playing.

"It can't be for a good thing," Kira mumbled as she walked out the door.

I only shrugged, I could guess that Leo was only going to remind her to make the family proud and place the company first. That was the one thing he was always on and on about. I pushed the door open, ready to manage the dinner when I froze to a halt at once.

Jace, the one person I've been trying to avoid was standing on the other side of the door. He flashed his deadly smile at . At once, I felt my heart lt right in my chest.
