Everyone rushed to Gramps’ side when his condition suddenly changed. Even the King gave up his work and ca to see Gramps.
Normally, commoners were not allowed to enter the Royal Palace, but this ti, only Nate and Rebecca were given special permission.
I, the King, Henry, l, Nate, and Rebecca were in the room.
The only sound in the room was Gramps’ ragged breathing.
I squeezed Gramps’ hand, which had beco thin.
Seeing Gramps in pain, I felt like I wanted to make him feel better as soon as possible. But the worst thing of all would be to lose Gramps.
It was hard to see Gramps unable to say a word anymore. Still, I wanted to be there for him until the end.
Sowhere in the back of my mind, I knew Alicia would co.
I was certain that Alicia also wanted to co here to witness Gramps’ final monts, but she would not.
I wish I could have let Alicia et him at his final monts….
I was certain that Alicia would have realized that Gramps was seriously ill. Still, there must have been sothing she had to do in the Ravaal Kingdom.
“I’m sure Alicia is fine in the Ravaal Kingdom.”
I doubted that my voice or any other sound was reaching the ears of Gramps right now. Even though I knew he didn’t hear , I kept talking.
As I stared at Gramps, who seed to be having a hard ti even breathing deeply, I wanted him not to suffer from this pain anymore.
He looked like he was struggling to stay alive because I still wanted him to stay in this world.
“Seeing Alicia getting stronger to protect her loved ones made want to do my best too. That’s why I was able to make a cure for Spotted Disease…Gramps, thank you for letting Alicia et . Thank you for living despite all the pain this country has put you through. Thank you for eting . …Please don’t hesitate to get a rest now.”
I said this with a slight tremble in my voice.
As soon as I finished, Gramps squeezed my hand back with what little strength he had.
“I… t… Alicia…”
t Alicia…?
Maybe Gramps was dreaming about sothing. I hope it was a happy dream….
“I thought I had such a rubbish life… but it was also very interesting…”
Gramps stated in a sure voice.
Interesting seed to sum up all of his experience so far.
With those words, Gramps quietly passed away.
