Zhu Gui didn’t conceal anything. During the conversation, he already learned the other party’s na, Yang Jing.
He didn’t ask much else.
The fact that she was alone with a child implied that her husband had already perished in the apocalypse.
This is sothing that easily brings up not-so-pleasant mories of the past, and silence is the best way to inquire.
Is having a woman and a child a burden?
Zhu Gui didn’t agree with this notion. In the early days of the apocalypse, he, too, was not brave. He would tremble in fear at the sight of vicious zombies, but gradually, he beca brave too. He could calmly think of escape strategies even when surrounded by zombies.
"Is it safe there?" Yang Jing asked cautiously.
Zhu Gui said, "I don’t know. We haven’t known for long. We’ve decided to go. If you don’t want to, I can take you back, and you can stay there. If it’s really safe there, I can co back to get you."
Yang Jing shook her head and chose to follow.
Perhaps she thought... returning there ant facing death for her and her child.
She didn’t want to miss any opportunity.
After a long ti.
Zhu Gui saw the jeep parked ahead, parked parallel to their path. Through the window, Lao Wang and the others were waiting for him inside the vehicle.
When Lao Wang and the others saw the unfamiliar Yang Jing, their faces showed confusion and vigilance.
Why would they bring in a stranger out of the blue?
In the apocalypse, even won can’t be underestimated.
Zhu Gui explained the situation that just happened. Lao Wang and the others gradually lowered their guard. If it were a trap, Zhu Gui wouldn’t have been able to get here safely. It seed like they genuinely encountered helpless survivors and brought them here out of pity.
"Lao Wang, is that the entrance to the Lao Fang Mountain Shelter?"
Zhu Gui saw a tal door embedded in the rock’s surface. Was this a shelter carved out of the mountain?
If that’s the case, it is indeed very safe.
A sealed tal door isn’t sothing ordinary zombies can breach, not even the Evolutionary Zombies.
"Yes, this is the destination." Lao Wang scrutinized the massive door, pondering what it was like inside. Did the survivors living there already know they had arrived?
Might they be watching them from a screen, or is there a secret passage in the shelter where soone observes every move?
These possibilities existed.
Zhu Gui asked, "When you guys arrived, didn’t you encounter zombies?"
"No, not a single trace of zombies. Maybe the people in the shelter eliminated or lured them away."
Lao Wang inspected the surroundings, finding no zombie corpses or signs of confrontation with zombies. Perhaps they really were lured away.
Lao Wang said, "I’ll go in first and see what’s happening. If I don’t co out to get you myself, you should leave."
"Lao Wang, no need. If it’s safe here, that’s our luck. If you can’t co out, we’ll definitely go in to save you. Think about it, the best way is for all of us to go in together, at least to look out for one another, right?" Zhu Gui expressed.
The other two companions nodded in agreent.
Indeed, that was the case.
Lao Wang’s suggestion was good for other survivor teams, but their team had always supported each other, never abandoning anyone.
All along, they stuck together, never leaving anyone behind, or else, given the dangers they encountered during this ti, soone would have backed out long ago.
"Alright, then be careful. We still don’t know the situation of the survivors inside. If anything goes wrong, we’ll rush out imdiately." Lao Wang, moved, felt they were trustworthy companions.
"Hmm."
Zhu Gui held onto a gun, which he found on a police corpse.
Now, only ten bullets remained. Usually, he wouldn’t fire unless absolutely necessary. Conserving bullets was crucial.
They approached the tal door, looking up at the cara in the corner. The cara’s red light flashed, indicating it was operational.
Lao Wang waved at the cara.
Zhu Gui also waved, with the hand holding the gun. It was a bold gesture, as if to tell them, "See, I have a gun. If you intend to harm us, let’s see if you have the ans."
If you have ill intentions, a few shots could send you so lead.
Just then.
Click!
The tal door slowly opened.
A bright corridor ca into view, clean and tidy, giving the first impression that soone must have cleaned it. Otherwise, it wouldn’t look like this.
Then, a voice ca.
"Hello, welco to Lao Fang Mountain Shelter. We have sufficient supplies here. Please proceed inside. Once you et the requirents, you’ll beco a mber of the Lao Fang Mountain Shelter."
The voice broadcasted over the speakers.
They exchanged glances.
The implication was that there was another hurdle, and remaining here required passing a test, which made them feel sowhat reassured.
With the apocalypse developing to this extent, who could claim that every survivor encountered was a good person?
If the shelter admitted just anyone, they’d wonder if the people inside had other motives; otherwise, how could they be so confident about letting survivors who arrive remain?
