In the midst of the battlefield, a district that had remained intact and bustling in the post-apocalyptic world was now reduced to rubble. As far as the eye could see, there were severed limbs and deafening artillery fire accompanied by blinding explosions. Buildings that had stood unhard were now collapsing as the flas of war ignited, growing fiercer by the mont!
The heavily armored Reaper tanks roared as their engines fired up, their wide tracks churning to life, propelling their massive bodies over the debris. In the face of the resistance of Gao’er Control Gate Soldiers, they moved through like a force of nature, slaughtering at will!
Warplanes scread across the sky, embodying their nasake by darting in and out of view, appearing and vanishing like wraiths. Whenever they appeared, their launched shells wrought catastrophic damage upon the resisting soldiers below!
Ghost Claw! The weapons in the hands of ghosts!
The Peace Party’s offensive was fierce, and even though the resisting soldiers had been well-prepared, they were blindsided by a sucker punch that left them reeling and disoriented.
To counter the Peace Party’s assault, the dispersed rebel soldiers at Gao’er Control Gate brought out all their resources. Tanks, armored vehicles, and an array of air combat weapons were deployed to the battleground. But the more they put up resistance, the greater their losses beca.
The war raged on. The soldiers of Gao’er resisting the Peace Party watched as their own vehicles were blown to bits by the enemy’s heavily armored Reaper tanks at a horrifying pace. Morale took a heavy hit; so tanks and armored vehicles were declared a total loss within a minute of deploynt, and with comrades falling one after another, deserters began to erge from the ranks of Gao’er’s fighters.
As ti went on, more and more soldiers threw down their weapons, shed their exoskeleton combat armor, stripped off their military uniforms, and joined the ranks of deserters.
"Report, another twenty have gone missing!"
At the rear of the warzone, the commander of Gao’er’s resistance heard the news of soldiers fleeing the battlefield, shaking with fury. The teacup on the desk before him was twisted out of shape, bearing the imprint of five fingers, hinting at just how much rage the tal cup had helped the commander vent before.
"Useless! A bunch of useless cowards! The Deputy Commander... Commandant has ordered that we must hold back the Peace Party! If we can just hold out until reinforcents arrive, we’ll be able to breathe a sigh of relief!"
The commander bellowed, his face twisted with ferocity. The only reason he and his soldiers were able to hold on was the hope of reinforcents promised by Xu Hui. Under his influence, the soldiers believed that if they could just hang on, help would certainly co.
But what they didn’t know was that there were no reinforcents at all. It was rely sothing Xu Hui had blurted out to encourage them to fight as cannon fodder. At the ti, Xu Hui believed that others, just like himself, would send aid upon hearing of their plight under attack from the Peace Party.
Ultimately, people are selfish. In the end, no one was willing to help Xu Hui, and he knew how terrible it would be to disclose the truth. So he continued to conceal it.
The commander was about to say more when his peripheral vision caught sight of sothing, and all his attention was instantly captivated.
On the horizon, a vast formation of warplanes had appeared at so point, and with a thunderous roar, but they were too distant for the commander to see clearly which faction they belonged to.
However, as the cluster of aircraft drew closer, his expression changed drastically. It was a mixed fleet made up of Gaofeng-17’s from Jinhai United District and Fu Hui’s Ghost Claw— a newly ford avian fleet.
Yet, what was most terrifying was the weird amalgamation that was mixed within the group.
But to the perceptive, it was obvious—they were the Corpse Eagle Knights from the Peace Party’s Dead Knight Corps!
"Quick! Anti-aircraft guns!"
Seeing this, the commander leapt to his feet, yelling. The faces of the soldiers in front changed instantly, and the logistics departnt hastily activated the air defense systems. For a mont, anti-aircraft gun mounts across the military district swung around, pointing towards the cluster of aircraft in the sky!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Anti-aircraft guns unleashed their fury, tracing countless paths through the sky, all directed toward the Peace Party’s swarm of aircraft, which quickly responded. The swarm dispersed in unison, frantically maneuvering to dodge the screaming anti-aircraft shells.
On the other side of the battlefield, Wu Zhanping watched the ascending barrage of anti-aircraft shells with a cold smirk on his face.
"Still putting up a futile resistance."
With a low shout, he raised his hand and swept it forward, prompting hundreds of towering, five to six-ter-tall Steel Bone-K11 chas behind him to flash their red lights and begin marching forward with chanical strides.
They’d hardly taken a few steps when the turbo engines on the chas activated, ejecting twin blue flas, and in an instant their speed increased dramatically, almost as if gliding across the ground—it was a swift rush right up to the resistance fighters.
Clink! Clink!
A chorus of light ringing sounds filled the air as chain swords extended from the arms of the chas that had reached the resistance’s front line. The chest armor opened under system control, revealing gun barrels and machine gun ports that fanned out like a peacock’s tail!
"No good! It’s the chas! Run!"
The resistance fighters’ legs went weak at the sight. The Steel Bone-K11 cha was specifically designed to target high-level zombies. Just one could overpower a Level 4 New Human, and there were many chas, equivalent to an equal number of Level 4 New Humans.
So many killing machines employed against them, wasn’t that an overkill?
These were machines built to slaughter zombies, especially the absolute power type zombies with astonishing defensive capabilities. Deploying chas was effective against them, but using those against people? The resistance soldiers didn’t dare to imagine the consequences of the ammunition fired from those chas hitting their own bodies.
But there was no ti left to think—all-out assault had already comnced from the Peace Party’s soldiers!
Coordinating with the swarm of aircraft above and the Dead Knight Corps’ Corpse Eagle Knights, one could see each cha leaning backward, the nurous gun barrels and ports on their chests emitting a chilling glow!
At that mont, it was as if there was an illusion that ti had paused, then abruptly the chas’ chests erupted in a barrage, unleashing a torrent of firepower that rained down upon the ground!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
In an instant, the battlefield was alight with explosions everywhere, mingling with the cries of the resistance soldiers who made it seem as if the place had turned into hell.
At the resistance’s supre command, Xu Hui was sweating bullets, his calves twitching uncontrollably.
He was scared. He hadn’t anticipated that the Peace Party would go to such lengths to subdue them. Outmatched in numbers, outmatched in equipnt, and moreover, the battle was in the residential area of the Jinhai United District, leaving no geographic advantage to exploit!
In this battle, his defeat was certain! And it was very likely to cost him his life!
With that thought, Xu Hui wavered, his eyes darting around. No one was intervening to help him at this dire ti, and he suddenly rembered the words of those two soldiers from before.
