Tang Ye ran like the wind, closing the distance between him and the woman in an instant. His black robe fluttered in the breeze, exhibiting an unbounded murderous intent!
Vrrrmm!
A deep growl seed to echo from the heavens. In that mont, both their hearts sensed an incredibly massive presence emanating from the river.
Bai Xinran took a couple of breaths, watching the high-level zombie horde sprinting away. She also glanced at the zombie wave behind her. Seeing that they were still far away, and a few clueless zombies from ti to ti falling into the cracks in the road, she breathed a sigh of relief. Running was too exhausting, her throat felt parched, as if it would burn up from dryness.
Smack!
She discarded the severed arm she was holding, patting her chest and resting for a while before calmly assessing her surroundings.
This wasn’t calm, but rather a resignation to her fate. The originally tranquil Qulong River had beco turbulent, with ice blocks occasionally drifting down from upstream, carrying decomposing corpses with them. The murkiness of the river seed normal to her now.
She felt as though she was about to die.
Looking around, it felt as if she was the only one still alive in this region, maybe even in the whole of Fengming City. Survival seed incredibly difficult.
"Aunt Qiongli, Little Darling, Brother Henian..."
She called those nas, but no one could save her. Moreover, she didn’t want to survive anymore. The white-haired zombie chasing that woman like a madman, she didn’t know what grudge it held.
Perhaps once that woman is killed, she would be the next to die.
But while she was still alive, Bai Xinran saw no reason to commit suicide. She mustered up her courage again and continued to flee.
At that mont, she saw a massive bulge appear on the river. The high water level overturned the docked boats. The raging river crazily lashed against the shore, causing several ters high waves.
The bulge in the water beca bigger, as if sothing was about to erge from beneath. Witnessing this scene, she intuitively slowed her steps.
"Is this... the Apocalypse?"
She stood frozen at the edge of the river, the water splashing her clothes wet. For so reason, she felt as though there was a terrifying entity watching her in the shadows. She was frightened and dared not move, only gazing at the water bulge that was now several ters high!
"What’s inside?"
Ti flew quickly; the bulge grew even bigger, rising more than a hundred ters, entirely blocking the Qulong River. At the highest point of the bulge, she spotted sothing that resembled tree bark!
Vrrrmm!
The ancient, low growl echoed through the space between heaven and earth. The water on the bulge fell rapidly, causing gale-force winds that swept up large amounts of snow from the ground. Her clothes fluttering, soaked by the water.
Cold! So cold, bone-chilling cold! What was that?
She saw a crown more than three ters high--it looked like Guanyin from Chinese mythology!
The enormous curtain of water returned to the river with a violent force, causing waves several tens of ters high!
The water on the bulge fell faster now, revealing the entity beneath. From the Guanyin-like crown to the ground which it was treading on - broad and gigantic! Wrinkled bark-like skin on a monster that dwarfs even the tallest skyscrapers!
Only when the bulge receded entirely was the true face of the entity revealed. The mont Bai Xinran spotted it; she felt a chill down her spine!
A feeling of oppression that was tens of tis more potent than the zombie tiger enveloped her, causing her breath to nearly cease!
Vrrrmm!
The low growl from the depths echoed again, leading to a large area of the Qulong River’s banks collapsing. The roads cracked open, revealing deep fissures into which countless zombies scread and fell.
Then, the Qulong River seed to be forcibly spread apart, becoming more wide. Bai Xinran saw a tentacle, dozens of ters thick, erging from the water, swinging wildly in the air. The sheer imposing aura it radiated was powerful enough for even an ordinary person to sense!
She opened her mouth wide, wanting to scream, but no matter how hard she strained her throat, she couldn’t hear a trace of her voice!
Roar! A deafening roar dispersed the air, and the sll of blood and fury surged towards the heavens!
The indescribably thick tentacle swept across the street, sending countless zombies flying hundreds of ters away!
It swung through the air again, this tentacle seed to have found sothing, a multitude of tiny feelers at its end aid at Bai Xinran, still the only human present!
Hundreds of the smaller tendrils separating, revealing a bloody hole in the center, filled with sharp, long fangs!
Roar!
The tentacle bellowed toward the sky. It wasn’t clear whether it was an eye of this monstrous creature, as no other parts on its body resembled an eye.
Bai Xinran was corroded with terror,
her pupils shrank rapidly, it was already too late!
As the tentacle bent, the explosive pressure it manifested ca barreling down! It was so large, the gust of wind it created as it slamd down was so strong, it blew her back step by step.
How could she escape? She couldn’t!
This situation was even more dangerous than before. Bai Xinran no longer desired to live. Her pupils gradually returned to normal, silently watching the giant tentacle smash towards her.
"Am I about to die?"
She murmured to herself, her mind calm and waveless, fear was gone, replaced by relief. In her mind flashed images of her loved ones.
Her younger brother, Qiongli, Nannan. These were her final connections to this world, but with the fall of the giant tentacle, it would all vanish like smoke.
She could already imagine the scene of her flesh being smashed to pieces and devoured by zombies.
Her lips curved slightly upward, revealing a dazzling yet lancholic smile.
In this perilous situation, she chose to close her eyes and confront death. She knew she was no match for such a terrifying entity, and rather than run away from the inevitable, she had better accept it.
As she closed her eyes, everything turned dark. The violent gust of wind battered her forehead, she felt as light as a feather, nearly ready to be swept up by the wind which felt cold enough to chill her bones.
"Dead...Dead, finally..."
Bai Xinran wholly relaxed, awaiting her first and last encounter with death.
But it seed that fate had other plans for her. Just as she felt the giant tentacle about to strike her, she felt a cold, lifeless hand on her waist pulling her upwards!
Imdiately, the surrounding pressure changed and her feet lost touch with the ground, the gust changed direction towards the sky!
Boom!
With an earth-shaking noise on the riverbank, shards of rubble were blasted to a height of more than fifty ters. A hole larger than a football field suddenly appeared on the bank of the Qulong River!
Crack! Crack!
A long crack spread from the bank of the Qulong River towards the West City, toppling the houses in its path!
Bai Xinran had no idea what was happening. Her feet, which had lost their hold, suddenly landed on sothing.
She blinked, and opened her eyes in surprise, only to see her foot standing on a piece of scale larger than her foot!
