Each human and each corpse had held each other for a while before Tang Ye picked up Ning Yu’er and leaped towards another building. As they got closer to Hongyi Street, the originally boundless zombie horde began to thin out, becoming sparse.

Finally, they arrived at a high-rise building not far from Hongyi Street. Tang Ye looked at the watch on his hand, the ti was already five o’clock, and the western horizon was filled with the glow of sunset.

Carrying Ning Yu’er, Tang Ye jumped to a six-story residential building, then jumped down again. From here, it was just around the corner to the safety zone fenced in with wire sh.

The areas surrounding the safety zone had all been cleared by the soldiers and there were no zombies in sight.

Peeking out and seeing the entrance of the safety zone guarded by n in military uniforms with loaded guns, Tang Ye knew he could only go this far with Ning Yu’er. Extending his skeletal arm, he scrawled a ssage on the nearby wall: "Go, find your father."

At the ti of parting, Tang Ye, who was not good with words, didn’t know what to say. He didn’t dare to et her eyes, pretending to casually look elsewhere. But when he finally gathered the courage to look at Ning Yu’er’s face, tears were already streaming down her cheeks.

Though the human and the corpse were not yet completely separated, the sadness of parting had already perated the air.

"Little Mister, thank you." Ning Yu’er said in a sobbing voice, then she turned around and left.

A sense of loneliness flashed in Tang Ye’s eyes as he wanted to ask her to stay, but he couldn’t muster the words. So, he swallowed them back. He turned his body too, preparing to leave. Just as he was about to take a step, he heard Ning Yu’er’s gentle voice from behind, making him shudder!

"Little Mister, wait a minute!"

Tang Ye turned back around, hoping that Ning Yu’er would ask him to stay. Sadly, she didn’t, and Tang Ye’s hopes were dashed. But he was also curious about what Ning Yu’er was planning.

"Little Mister, here, this is for you. I’ve been wearing it since I was a little girl, for many years." Ning Yu’er rolled up her sleeve to reveal her delicate forearm and took off a pink fluffy elastic band from it.

"It’s what my mother left for , and now I’m giving it to you, Little Mister. Sll it, does it sll good?"

Tang Ye sniffed, and indeed... it was really fragrant, the unique, lovely scent of her.

Ning Yu’er took Tang Ye’s hand and put the fluffy elastic on it. She looked at his face, her eyes filled with reluctance.

"Little Mister, I gave you sothing, now you have to give sothing too! Sniff~"

A puzzle appeared on Tang Ye’s face. I have to give you sothing?

Tang Ye didn’t have anything else and didn’t know what he could give her. Could it be... you want this piece of "jelly"?

While Tang Ye was wondering, Ning Yu’er pointed to the crowbar on his back and said, "Little Mister, I want that. I gave you the thing that accompanied for the longest ti, and you should also give the thing that accompanied you for the longest ti!"

Tang Ye nodded, removed the crowbar from his back, and handed it to her. Ning Yu’er took it with a faint smile on her face, but the lancholy in her eyes could not be hidden.

"Little Mister, I have a wish, would you like to hear it?" Ning Yu’er said.

Tang Ye nodded to indicate that he would listen. Seeing his agreent, Ning Yu’er started speaking: "My wish is for the zombies and humans to live in peace one day. Humans won’t attack zombies and zombies won’t eat humans. It would be harmonious and beautiful, just like you, Little Mister, where humans and zombies eat and play together..."

After Tang Ye listened quietly to her wish, he fell into thoughts. But at that mont, Ning Yu’er said, "Alright, Little Mister, I’m leaving, goodbye!"

She waved at Tang Ye and he waved back. She turned around and left. Watching the back of the girl who was pure, adorable, and overly kind-hearted like a flower on a mountain, Tang Ye wore a smile on his face but he was heartbroken.

You’re leaving; I’m sorry... I’m sorry... I can’t say goodbye...

Ning Yu’er had just walked away a few steps, and at the corner, turned back again.

"Little Mister~ Will we ever et again?"

Huh?

Tang Ye’s heart shuddered.

Will we ever et again? Can we see each other again? There’s a long ti in the future, maybe we can see each other again, or maybe... we can’t!

Suddenly, Tang Ye didn’t know how to answer her, so he just stood there, not nodding, nor shaking his head.

Seeing that he didn’t respond, Ning Yu’er let her head droop in disappointnt and turned to leave. Seeing this, Tang Ye felt as if his soul was pierced by sothing and his heart ached unbearably.

He opened his mouth, he wanted to speak, Tang Ye let out a muffled roar, he wanted to speak, trying to speak! But he felt as if his throat was stuck with a big fish bone, and he could only make a grunting noise!

I want to speak! Damn it!

Tang Ye cursed in his heart. His throat rolled as if he wanted to spit sothing out!

"Good bye...We will...we will et again...heh." With Tang Ye’s effort, he finally said a sentence right when Ning Yu’er’s figure was about to disappear from his sight. But, his hoofed voice was harsh and raspy like two pieces of coarse sandpaper rubbing against each other, making people feel uncomfortable.

Hearing Tang Ye speak, Ning Yu’er turned back incredulously, looking at him in astonishnt.

"Little Mister... yeah! Yes, we will et again!"

Ning Yu’er gave him a captivating smile, and then turned to leave. At the corner, she took one last look at Tang Ye, then disappeared from his sight.

The soldiers guarding the safety zone suddenly saw a figure on the street and imdiately pointed their guns at her.

Ning Yu’er got a shock and quickly raised her hands to show that she was a normal human. Seeing her gesture, two guards ran over and took her to a machine at the entrance of the safety zone to check if she was infected with the virus.

Tang Ye also peeked out, silently watching her. If anything happened to her, he would be there to save her in no ti, but thankfully, nothing did.

[Beep! Testing is complete. All data is normal and shows no signs of mutation.]

A cold chanical voice sounded, and the guard on duty spoke to Ning Yu’er, "Okay, kid, you can go in now. Did you co alone?"

"Yes." Ning Yu’er answered, as she raised the crowbar in her hand, covered in zombie blood.

The other guards were skeptical. How could a girl as fragile as her have co on her own? There must have been others protecting her. But the next second, when they saw the crowbar in her hand, their faces changed.

They looked at Ning Yu’er again, but they couldn’t see that she was an evolved human. However, they felt it was not their place to inquire about it; all of this would have to wait until Ning Tianlang’s return.

"Hey, officer, have you seen my father?"

"Who is your father?"

"My father is Ning Tianlang!"

"What?" Everyone gasped, looking at her in disbelief.
