It wasn’t long after Tang Ye left with his team towards Chuntun when the gatekeepers saw a few of their own bringing over a hundred survivors.

"Wang Hu, what’s going on? Where did these people co from?"

The leader of the gatekeepers asked the man nad Wang Hu, a puzzled expression on his face.

"We found these people while searching for supplies. They were in trouble, and asked us to bring them here. I figured we needed people here, so I thought I’d bring them over."

The survivors brought over by Wang Hu and others were dressed in rags, no, it was worse than rags, they were dirty to the point of turning black! It was as though they were covered in an unidentifiable layer of filth.

Most of the survivors were so thin they were practically skin and bone, exhibiting severe malnutrition, with only a few appearing to only have a yellowish complexion.

Due to their harsh living conditions, they all carried a terrible odor that made the guards dizzy.

"Where did you bring them from? This sll is unbearable!"

Wang Hu looked helpless as he announced, "They’ve been living in the sewerage. We all know what sewers sll like. As for their starvation... well, just look at them..."

"Alright, let them stay outside for now. I’ll go get Brother Jiu."

The gatekeeping leader cut off Wang Hu, scampered into the settlent and brought out Huang Quanjiu.

As soon as Huang Quanjiu arrived and slled the atrocious stench, he wrinkled his nose in revulsion and covered it, then turned to look at the survivors and asked,

"Where did you co from?"

A man in his fifties stepped forward from the crowd of survivors, bare-chested with only a rotten rag covering his lower body.

Upon seeing the man’s bulging muscles and the vital life energy concealed underneath, along with his filth, Huang Quanjiu instantly recognized him as a new human being.

However, despite being a new human, he appeared a little frail, likely due to prolonged starvation.

"Young man, we ca from Gao Huihong Street. We’ve been hiding in the sewers for a long ti, only rarely coming out. We could have held out a little longer, but with winter approaching and in order to lower death numbers, we had to co here and seek your help."

"Oh?" Huang Quanjiu made a slight noise of surprise, his eyes flashing coldly.

Huang Quanjiu looked at the old man. Suddenly, he reached for his waist and drew a gun, scaring the people who quickly took a step back, but he didn’t make a move, just kept his hand on the gun.

The old man, being cunning, quickly realized he was making a show of authority. Carefully, he asked Huang Quanjiu,

"Do you have anything else to say, young man?"

Huang Quanjiu showed a strange smile and said with conviction, "The decision of whether you can enter or not is not up to . But once you’re in, you’re one of us; there’s no factionalism here. I just want to ask, after winter passes, will you leave? If yes, then I’m sorry, you should prepare to die out here. If not, then you’re welco to join us."

The old man furrowed his brow and pondered, then glanced back at the hopeful faces behind him before reluctantly saying, "That’s not... that’s not the case. We are willing to be a part of you and be at your disposal."

The mont the words left his mouth, the survivors behind him erupted in warm cheers. As soon as they had arrived, they had seen the beaming faces of the survivors outside, evidently living a decent life.

Comparing the two groups, it was clear that they were worlds apart!

From the beginning, they were attracted to this place. A life of clothes and food aplenty was sothing they never dared to think of in the post-apocalyptic world.

In response to the cheers of the survivors, Huang Quanjiu snorted coldly. His words hit the crowd like a bucket of cold water,

"Quiet down, everyone, and don’t celebrate too early. I’ve said before; whether you can co in or not depends on our leader. You all are too many in number, so the decision-maker should be the leader. Therefore, let’s wait outside for a while."

The cheers stopped abruptly, plunging the crowd into silence. After a while, soone from inside raised their hand to Huang Quanjiu and said, "Brother, if we don’t go in, and the zombies co, what do we do? You can’t just watch us die, can you?"

At this, Huang Quanjiu and the other guards instantly burst into laughter.

"Haha, now, that’s a statent! The safest place here is with the leader, no zombie dares to co here!"

"Exactly, our boss is omnipotent! Those zombies can’t even get close."

"Ahem."

After the guards had a good laugh, Huang Quanjiu suddenly coughed a couple of tis, silencing the laughter. He looked at the baffled survivors, and said solemnly, "In my opinion, your chances of coming in are high. But before that, I have to remind you, in this settlent, every word the leader says is sacred. You mustn’t go against it. If you do, no one can guarantee your safety."

When he finished speaking, Huang Quanjiu turned and descended the stairs, not bothering to see the faces of the crowd below.

anwhile, Tang Ye had already reached Chuntun. He first ran to the Armored Vehicle Parking Lot to check it out and then hurriedly went to see the tank storage in the big shed.

"How many are operational?"

"Boss, four are working. The rest are broken. We’re no experts, so we can’t tell where the problem is."

"So, including the two we have, there are six usable tanks?"

"Yes." Bai Huipeng replied respectfully.

Tang Ye swept a glance over the tanks in the shed, especially the two immobilized ones, and said, "Get the ones that can move out here, and if you can’t, Bai Huipeng, show them how."

"Understood!" Bai Huipeng went to do so, a smile never leaving his face.

"If you can drive a tractor, you can drive this. It’s not that hard."

"Hey, brother Peng,"

As they were going about this, soone initiated banter, eliciting a burst of raucous laughter.

At that mont, Tang Ye seed to notice sothing. His face montarily blanked before he shouted, "Get out of the way!"

Upon hearing Tang Ye’s shout, the people in front scrambled to roll onto the ground.

Bang!

At this mont, the iron sheeting on the side of the big shed was suddenly smashed open by an imnse black shadow. It moved so fast it left only a residual image as it sped past.

"What the hell was that?" A few people who had narrowly missed being hit voiced their lingering fear.

"It’s Xu Haishui ... this guy..."

Tang Ye’s eyesight was exceptional; he instantly identified the black shadow’s true form and the person riding on it. Wasn’t that Xu Haishui?
