Cold lights sparked on the body of the Level 2 zombie, leaving slash marks behind.

"Hurry up, kill the other undead! Keep the civilians safe!"

A rookie of the Zombie Slaying Team yelled, baring his zombie-killing blade, he pushed back a tentacle reached out from the monster. Other soldiers, hearing this, quickly retreated, exploding the heads of the undead feasting on bodies ’

Wounds appeared all over the Level 2 zombie, apparently inflected by the rookies. Despite its injuries, there was no sign of fatigue. It continued to lash out with the tentacles protruding from its stomach.

Seeing the right mont, a rookie leaped into the air, his zombie blade high, the hook on it aid directly at the creature’s head!

"Die!"

There was a smirk in the rookie’s eyes. But in mid-air, he saw the Level 2 zombie’s eyes lock onto him. His face whitened, a hint of dread crept into his heart, "Crap."

Just as he was about to land, the Level 2 zombie struck out a hand and hurled the rookie to the side, before bellowing out a roar.

Without the constraint of their teammate, the remaining two rookies felt their pressures spike. Caught off guard, one had his body punctured by a tentacle.

After killing the second rookie, it turned its attention to the last one still standing. Its eyes glead with bloodlust. Just as it was about to pounce, a bullet buried into its head with a "pop". The Level 2 zombie tumbled to the ground, dead and still.

The surviving rookie heaved a sigh of relief. Not knowing exactly who killed the zombie, he still gave a thumbs up to each teammate, "Well done!"

He then bent down to extract the Evolution Crystal from the zombie’s brain, but the mont his hand touched the head, the zombie suddenly ca to life, its massive hand sweeping towards him!

Splat!

Caught off guard, the rookie was sent flying by the massive force, slamd hard against a wall, and passed out. The Level 2 zombie shook its dizzy head and turned its ominous gaze to the soldiers who were still shooting at it.

Roar!

A ferocious growl erupted from its mouth, before it lunged, sending waves of soldiers tumbling backward.

Zombie infection was frighteningly quick. In no ti, the situation beca unmanageable. Humans and undead intermingled. Newly-transford zombies looked almost human. Every figure passing by could potentially be a ravenous undead.

The soldiers hurriedly tried to separate the survivors from the fallen ones. Igniting their guns, they didn’t care who was in the line of fire - survivor or zombie, everyone was fair ga!

Watching the tide of undead getting ever closer, the tragic cries rang incessantly in the ear. Not far away, soldiers were being taken down one by one by the Level 2 zombie. The rookie comforting a little girl beca agitated. He picked up the crying child and sprinted forward.

"Don’t cry, big brother will protect you."

The little girl said nothing, allowing the rookie to hold her up. But this action attracted the attention of the Level 2 zombie, turning its focus towards them.

With a growl, it dashed toward them. Yu Guang, the rookie holding the little girl, felt his heart thump, he tried to sprint away, but when compared to the speed of a Level 2 zombie, he was far too slow!

Within a blink of an eye, the monster was at his tail. As its enormous claw raised, Yu Guang could only watch helplessly as the shadow of the claw lood over him. It seed that he and the little girl were about to et their end.

But at the last mont, a figure darted out, blocking the attack with his knife.

"Go! I’ll hold it off!" said a bad boy with blue hair.

Yu Guang, seeing this, was relieved. He gave the boy a grateful look and then ran without looking back.

After watching Yu Guang leave, and barely warding off the attack of the Level 2 zombie, the blue-haired boy felt numbness in his hands, pain shooting through his body. Struggling to move, he retracted his weapon.

He sheathed his knife, the blade was already blunted. He had no choice; it was his only weapon, accompanying him through countless days. He didn’t have a gun. If he lost this weapon, he would be unard.

At that mont, the Level 2 zombie let out an angry roar, its eyes filled with vengeance as if blaming the blue-haired boy for stealing its al!

It lashed out again, and two tentacles also swooped in from different directions. Despite often fighting with local gangsters before the apocalypse and being quite skilled, the blue-haired boy knew he was no match for this creature.

He only gained his current strength after evolving into a ’new man.’

Realizing he was cornered on three fronts by the Level 2 zombie, he had nowhere to run. As the monstrous claw dropped down upon him, he raised his blunted knife in a desperate bid to hold off the attack.

Crack!

With a crisp sound, the knife snapped in two. The force of the attack sent the blue-haired boy flying. He slamd against a wall and almost blacked out.

With blurred vision, he saw the monstrous creature bounding over like a specter. Before he knew it, a tentacle had punctured his body.

"You little rascal!"

An elderly man’s voice rang out, full of urgency and anger. In a split second, before the Level 2 zombie could even react, its jaw was seized by the seemingly frail elder.

With a crunch, the Level 2 zombie didn’t have ti to do anything. The seemingly frail old man tore off the creature’s head with his bare hand!

"You want to die huh? Did I tell you to follow ? Didn’t I tell you that being a good man doesn’t an you’ll live a long life? What do you take my words for?"

The elder berated the blue-haired boy, who managed a weak smile, "If being a good man doesn’t an a long life, perhaps it’s better than not being a good man at all."

"What’s the point? Will anyone rember you?

"It doesn’t matter if anyone rembers... The world still needs so people like ... to be unnad heroes... That’s not too bad..."

Before he could finish his sentence, the blue-haired boy dropped his head, his breathing ceased. He was gone.
