"Fifty thousand?" Tang Ye asked, but the young black man shook his head and gestured again.

"Five hundred thousand? Got it, sir?"

"Fifty-five..." Upon hearing this number, Tang Ye simply shook his head. Mr. Pillay’s Grocery Store definitely didn’t have five hundred thousand. He spread his hands to the others, indicating either that he didn’t have it or that he was refusing.

"What if you don’t have it?"

"Oh~ then, sir, you might have to guess if you’re going to get beaten up next!"

"If I had to guess, of course it’s not going to happen."

"Not going to happen? So does that an you’re ready to compensate, sir?"

"I never said that."

"You."

Tang Ye maintained the sa posture and expression, with a faint smile on his face. Seeing his dismissive attitude, the black young man with dreadlocks got angry. Without giving Tang Ye a chance to speak, he raised his fist and swung it over, but to Tang Ye, this punch was no different from a block of tofu. He rely extended his hand, and the opponent couldn’t even see his movents before realizing his arm was already caught.

He tried to exert more force, but Tang Ye only gave a slight push, and a subtle yet irresistible power knocked him to the ground!

"You!"

Grimacing in pain, the black man quickly stood up, driven by anger, and kicked toward Tang Ye. Yet, before he could regain his balance, Tang Ye grabbed his collar with a quick move and pinned him to the ground again.

"Young man, you don’t stand a chance."

Under Tang Ye’s strength, the young black man felt as if his neck was about to be broken, screaming in agony!

"Pain! Ah! You guys, aren’t you going to help? Co on!"

At his cries, the young n who ca with him rushed forward. One even pulled out a steel pipe and swung it at Tang Ye’s back!

But Tang Ye raised his hand, and with a "thud" from the collision between the steel pipe and his arm, the scene fell into dead silence.

They watched the steel pipe, as thick as a bottle cap, bending awkwardly, stunned like statues. The one who swung it at Tang Ye also widened his eyes, and the next second, large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. He swallowed hard, his body beginning to tremble.

He looked at Tang Ye, locking eyes with his unwavering gaze.

"I... I didn’t an to..."

"Why... why?" The young n were utterly confused, feeling like they were dreaming. It was a solid steel pipe, why didn’t it leave a mark on his hand?

The chubby guy was equally dumbfounded. As these small gangsters stamred, he finally ca to his senses.

"He... Mr. Pillay... seems to know kung fu..."

"Kung fu?"

Tang Ye tilted his head to look at his arm, feeling that bee stings were more noticeable than this.

"How about that?" He asked playfully, shalessly admitting to knowing "kung fu"! But this scene had clearly startled them; if he had seen this only-in-the-movies plot before the Apocalypse, he wouldn’t have believed it was real either.

The young n didn’t have a chance to reply before the young black man pinned by Tang Ye struggled again.

"Let go! Let go!"

Tang Ye laughed as he released him, and the guy got up, moving as if he wasn’t bothered by what had just happened. But when his eyes caught the steel pipe, now bent at ninety degrees, he couldn’t help but swallow hard.

"Isn’t that just kung fu? I can do that too!"

"Huh?" His companions looked at him in disbelief—they had no idea when he learned kung fu.

Who would have thought? He nodded arrogantly to his friends with a confident look and said, "You guys go out, I want to test my skills against him!"

"Are you... sure?"

The young n looked at him with suspicion. Even the chubby guy and Tang Ye were puzzled, not understanding what he was up to.

"Guys, stop talking, will ya? Go out, or you might get hurt."

"Alright then..."

Except for the young black man, the others exchanged glances. Although feeling uneasy, they didn’t want to stay with this bizarre man, Tang Ye, who was too uncanny—how could a human be tougher than steel?

With his companions leaving one by one, this Silly still maintained his invincible air until he and Tang Ye were the only ones left in the store, and his expression changed.

"Could you... could you co with , Mr. Pillay?"

"What do you want?"

The sudden change in attitude made Tang Ye even more confused, but the other party didn’t answer; instead, he led Tang Ye to a place away from view, then suddenly knelt down.

"I’m really sorry... my tone was indeed a little..."

"Get out!" The mont he knelt, Tang Ye imdiately understood what he wanted—he couldn’t swallow his pride. But Tang Ye didn’t bother to spare his dignity and interrupted him directly.

"Mr. Pillay, please accept my..."

"Get out! Didn’t you hear ?"

"Huh? Oh... okay!" The young black man still wanted to say sothing, but seeing Tang Ye’s impatient expression, he promptly agreed, got up from the floor, and fled the store. Before he left, he confusingly added, "Hmph, you’re just like that!"

With that, he and his companions left the place. Although obscured by the store’s door, Tang Ye clearly heard his final words. He didn’t mind, just smiled and muttered to himself, "Really strange..."

He wasn’t perplexed by the young man’s actions but rather by his fluent Mandarin—not just fluent, but exceptionally authentic. However, this authenticity had a peculiarity that couldn’t be ignored. Tang Ye pondered and concluded it was probably due to their accents.

This voice, ideally suited for speaking foreign languages, speaking Mandarin, tsk tsk...

This was just a side episode. After the young black man and his group left, Tang Ye resud his previous activities, listening to the music from the music box, reading a book that wasn’t exactly to his taste, patiently passing the ti second by second.

Without realizing it, the ti ca to the afternoon. Just as Tang Ye was about to head upstairs to check the ti, Dairya pushed the door open, entered the store, and turned to face Tang Ye before reaching the counter.

"Mr. Pillay."

Tang Ye’s fingers twitched involuntarily. Her overly polite manner made him feel uncomfortable, and he always felt like he should reciprocate sohow. Luckily, in the end, Tang Ye chose to respond to her in the simplest way possible—by nodding to Dairya to acknowledge her presence.
