Watching as Li Xiaoyan was strangled by the tentacle that Tang Ye had suddenly extended, Chen Chaoyang anxiously pleaded with him.

"Big Brother, can’t you just talk this out? There’s no need for violence!"

Li Xiaoyan was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage. Chen Huaijiang and his wife had been married for three years without having a child. Chen Huaijiang thought that he would not have an heir, so in order to continue the family line, he decided to adopt a child from the orphanage.

Most of the children in the orphanage were abandoned by their parents because they were born with disabilities. Chen Huaijiang, as a mber of the upper class, naturally did not fancy such children. Eventually, he turned his attention to Li Xiaoyan and adopted him.

The first ti Li Xiaoyan ca to his new ho, Chen Huaijiang and his wife treated him as their own. However, this idyllic scene did not last long. As if the heavens were playing a cruel joke on him, his adoptive mother beca pregnant!

She gave birth to Chen Chaoyang. Naturally, Chen Huaijiang was overjoyed at the birth of his biological son. He showered his son with affection every day while Li Xiaoyan’s status in the family fell sharply, changing from a young master to Chen Chaoyang’s servant.

As the sole heir of the Chen family, Chen Chaoyang’s parents were influential figures. His father had power, his mother was rich, and he himself was considered privileged from birth!

Despite this, Chen Chaoyang grew up to be arrogant and domineering, often bullying his servant-like elder brother. However, even so, he did not want anything to happen to Li Xiaoyan, who had grown up with him.

After all, seventeen years of companionship could even forge bonds with a dog.

In response to his words, Tang Ye simply gave him a cold glance. Though he was a zombie, who sotis lost his senses due to external influences, it did not an he was as stupid as the others!

Most of the scientists were madn. Who knew what they would do if they discovered Tang Ye was a zombie with human consciousness. Would they catch him and slice him up for research?

Tang Ye did not know what he was thinking previously, doubting if he had beco more foolish or if his logic had been affected after turning into a zombie. How could he have allowed soone, who knew that he possessed human intelligence, to return to human society?

Thinking back on it now, Tang Ye shuddered in fear. Maybe he could trust Chen Chaoyang who had traveled a long distance from Hua City Qinshan Base to fulfill his promise, but the sa did not apply to Li Xiaoyan.

After evolving into a Level 3 zombie, Tang Ye had killing intentions toward Li Xiaoyan, but he hadn’t acted on it yet. When he learned from Chen Chaoyang that Ning Yu’er was at Yindan Base, he planned to utilize Li Xiaoyan first due to his ability to fly a helicopter. Once he had exploited Li Xiaoyan’s worth, he would dispose of him!

Chen Chaoyang didn’t know why Tang Ye suddenly wanted to kill Li Xiaoyan. He didn’t dare to intervene, fully aware that he couldn’t overco Tang Ye. He could only watch anxiously.

Tang Ye turned his gaze to Chen Chaoyang, his eyes brimming with murderous intent. "Did you share my information with anyone else?" he asked.

"Huh?" Hearing Tang Ye’s question, Chen Chaoyang was taken aback at first. Truthfully speaking, after Tang Ye had safely returned him to the base, he almost forgot about Tang Ye due to the absence of imminent survival threats. His extravagant nature returned as he started to enjoy life within the safe zone.

Upon returning to Qinshan Base, he lived a life no different from before the apocalypse. He didn’t even ntion the existence of cognitive zombies like Tang Ye, let alone the zombies wandering outside the base.

"No, Big Brother, please let him go! He’s my friend!"

"Really?" Tang Ye looked at Chen Chaoyang skeptically, clearly not believing his words.

"Big Brother, I really haven’t said anything! We ca here knowing nothing. If you don’t believe , you can ask him yourself."

Chen Chaoyang pointed anxiously at Li Xiaoyan, whose face had turned red from Tang Ye’s strangling tentacle.

After pondering for a mont, Tang Ye thought it was a bit inappropriate to simply kill Chen Chaoyang’s subordinate after his evolution to Level 3, given the latter’s significant contribution. He felt a slight guilt in simply disposing of Chen Chaoyang.

"Fine, I’ll believe you for now. But if I discover anything unusual, both of you will die!"

Tang Ye spoke with a chilling voice. The tentacle strangling Li Xiaoyan’s neck was subsequently released. Seeing this, Chen Chaoyang breathed a sigh of relief. He understood Tang Ye’s paranoia about his identity being exposed.

"Yes, yes, yes!"

After releasing Li Xiaoyan, Tang Ye resud his journey toward Yindan Base with Nannan on his back and Ah Fu around his neck. He had previously spotted the towering anti-zombie walls of Yindan Base from the helicopter, so he was well aware of its location.

However, seeing Tang Ye planning to head to Yindan Base in such a manner, Chen Chaoyang - a loyal follower - imdiately called out to him.

"Wait, Big Brother, are you planning to go to Yindan Base just like that?"

"..."

Tang Ye fell silent. It seed his logic had indeed been affected since he beca a zombie. If he walked into Yindan Base looking like a zombie, the soldiers there would probably attack him on sight.

"If not like this...do you have a better idea?"

"You can wear a mask." Chen Chaoyang imdiately responded.

"A mask? Why?"

It seed confusing to Tang Ye. By wearing a mask, he could enter Yindan Base. But if the soldiers inside wanted to check his face, what would he do? And besides, wouldn’t wearing a mask in broad daylight make him more suspicious?

"Well, wearing a mask isn’t actually necessary, but you can’t...."

Chen Chaoyang moved closer to Tang Ye to explain the feasibility of his plan.

As it turned out, after the post-apocalyptic outbreak, the established order of many survivor bases was very different from what it had been in the beginning. The main reason for this change was the ergence of a new group of humans.

A month ago, many new humans in the survivor bases started revolting, killing the original leaders who were still ordinary persons. Many of these revolts were successful, and the power shifted to so strong new humans, while the central governnt at Huachen Jiangtian Base turned a blind eye to this situation as it was under similar threat.

Because of this, the governnts of the survivor bases controlled by the new humans started to recruit other new humans.

The substantial benefits offered by these bases were tempting for many new humans, and hence many joined them. However, so new humans loved freedom and disliked being constrained by rules and regulations. They beca bounty hunters, a profession that was common in ancient tis.
