Chapter 224: Chapter 195: You Call This a Tactic?

After the first group stage concluded, the second one began imdiately.

It was the sa story all over again, a complete repeat of the first group stage.

Both Island University and Luofan Academy imdiately chose to surrender when they faced Ancient University. Then, in the match between Luofan Academy and Island University, Luofan Academy surrendered just as quickly.

Three consecutive matches, three surrenders. The entire process took less than ten minutes and directly decided the rankings for the second group.

Ancient University took first, Island University second, and Luofan Academy third.

Good grief... Even the host was dumbfounded, unsure of how to smooth things over.

The six matches across both groups took less than twenty minutes in total!

Most of that ti was spent on the contestants entering and leaving the stage and the host’s announcents. There wasn’t a single fra of actual combat!

These competing teams were being far too half-hearted.

Fortunately, however, this spectacle wouldn’t be repeated. The upcoming matches would directly determine the teams’ final rankings and rewards.

Next up were the placent matches, where teams with the sa rank from groups one and two would compete to determine the final rankings for the team event.

Luofan Academy would face Muguo Royal Academy to decide fifth and sixth place.

Island University would face Great Desert Chief University to decide third and fourth place.

And Ancient University would face Dongli University to determine the champion and runner-up.

To keep the audience in suspense, the championship final was scheduled for last. The first match was between Luofan Academy and Muguo Royal Academy.

This ti, neither team surrendered, but there was no real fighting spirit either. After all, it made little difference whether they won or lost.

The two teams fought in an extrely perfunctory manner. It felt like an exhibition match; no one was willing to exert any real effort, instead just using flashy, ostentatious skills to put on a good show.

Amateurs watch for the spectacle, while experts look for technique. The ordinary viewers watching on TV saw a lively fight and got into it.

anwhile, the evolvers with any real strength or discernnt were bored to the point of nodding off, feeling as if they were watching a show with terrible acting.

Thankfully, neither team was very interested in keeping up the act. After a few minutes of fighting, they hastily concluded the match.

Muguo Royal Academy took fifth, and Luofan Academy sixth.

Not that anyone cared about those rankings, anyway.

The next match, between Island University and Great Desert Chief University, was finally worth watching. Both teams went all out.

After all, there was a big difference between third and fourth place. The third-place team would receive two slots for the Divine Dice, while the fourth-place team would only get one.

Su Ze watched with great interest from offstage. The two teams were fairly evenly matched in strength; the deciding factors would be tactics and coordination.

It was clear the team mbers had trained hard to synchronize their movents. They frequently used all sorts of bizarre skills to pull off ingenious combinations, earning thunderous applause from the crowd.

The match lasted for over ten minutes. By the end, mbers of both teams had sustained injuries to varying degrees and were all showing signs of exhaustion.

In the end, at a critical mont, Island University’s unofficial seventh mber—the "referee"—played a crucial role. He provided a "divine assist" that helped Island University win the match.

The crowd consisted almost entirely of Island University’s students and faculty. They erupted in thunderous cheers, as if their university had just won the entire championship. Their faces were filled with pride and a sense of honor.

It just went to show: shaless people are truly invincible.

Once the venue settled down, the final match was about to begin.

Su Ze led his five teammates onto the arena stage.

On the other side of the arena, the six mbers of the Ancient University team, led by Yarlin, faced them from a distance. The air between the two teams seed to crackle with hostility.

The match began, and the Dongli University team quickly fell into formation. Luo Kai, the long-range attacker, stood at the very back. The two supports, Yangyang and Li Zhi, also took up positions in the rear. The tough-skinned Su Ze stood at the vanguard, with Li Yongguan and Gu Yue’er flanking him from behind.

The Ancient University team, however, didn’t bother with a formation. Yarlin simply charged forward alone.

’Is he going to take on all six of them?’

But then, Yarlin drew the blood sword from his back.

A terrifying, malevolent aura transford into a spiritual attack that washed over the six mbers of the Dongli team.

Aside from Su Ze, the expressions of the other five changed instantly.

Thoughts of uncontrollable fear blood in their minds. Their legs trembled, their eyes grew unfocused, and beads of sweat trickled down their foreheads.

The other five mbers of the Ancient University team kept a significant distance from Yarlin, clearly afraid of being affected by the blood sword’s malevolent aura themselves.

At this point, the five from Dongli University had lost most of their will to fight, completely suppressed by Yarlin’s spiritual attack.

Su Ze shook his head and called out, "Everyone, initiate Tactic E."

The expressions of Li Yongguan and the others changed. They had prepared four strategies in total: Tactics A, B, C, and D. This fifth one, Tactic E, had been proposed by Su Ze. They had never seriously considered using it, because it seed unreliable and, to so extent, insulting.

Not insulting to the enemy, but to themselves.

Su Ze added, "Don’t hesitate. In your current state, it’ll take at least a few minutes for you to recover. There’s no point in trying to tough it out."

Li Yongguan gritted his teeth, finally made his decision, and turned to walk away.

"Fall back!"

He shouted, and the others followed his lead. All five of them jumped off the arena stage in unison.

"Are they... forfeiting the match!?"

"No, Su Ze is still up there!"

"So Su Ze is going to fight all six of them alone?"

"And they call that a tactic?"

That’s right. Su Ze’s Tactic E was simple: everyone else leaves the stage, and he fights all six opponents by himself.

The main reason was that with his teammates on stage, Su Ze couldn’t fight without holding back; there were many skills he was unable to use.
