Chapter 173: Chapter 159: Flesh

The chunk of flesh chasing Su Ze was completely different from the other pieces. It seed to be alive, constantly writhing and vividly colored.

What was even more bizarre was its speed. It was ridiculously fast!

’How are things with legs supposed to compete with a piece of at that fast?’

In the blink of an eye, the chunk of flesh was about to catch Su Ze.

At the critical mont, Mr. Ya finally made his move. He grabbed Su Ze and used Earth Escape to leave the spot, traveling underground.

In an instant, the two of them appeared in a greenbelt a kiloter away.

But before Su Ze could even sigh in relief, he saw the chunk of flesh charging straight for him again.

"Mr. Ya, don’t stop!" Su Ze cried out, his face pale with shock.

Without a word, Mr. Ya took Su Ze and escaped again. This ti, he went all out, taking them directly to the university’s main gate.

Su Ze remained on high alert, watching to see if the chunk of flesh would follow.

It wasn’t that he hadn’t considered fighting back, but he had no long-range attacks. He didn’t dare get too close to the flesh, let alone make contact with it.

Mainly, that piece of flesh, and everything he had seen at the man-made lake, was just too bizarre.

"It’s here! It’s here again!"

Mr. Ya shouted in alarm, pointing at the piece of flesh rapidly chasing them from behind.

"Mr. Ya, save !" Su Ze yelled, grabbing one of Mr. Ya’s arms.

Mr. Ya used his Earth Escape Skill again, pulling Su Ze away. This ti he went even farther, arriving in an abandoned factory area.

But Su Ze had a premonition that the flesh would follow them again!

’It seems to have locked onto

sohow. My scent? Or sothing else?’ Su Ze frowned.

’If this doesn’t work, my only option is to have Mr. Ya take

to the Limin Association Headquarters and ask Mr. Gu for help.’

Su Ze decided that if the flesh ca after them again, he would try to attack it. If that didn’t work, he would have Mr. Ya take him to the Limin Association Headquarters.

As expected, less than a minute later, the piece of flesh appeared.

"So it won’t stop until one of us is dead, huh?"

Su Ze had already spread Gravity Dust Sand in the area. Using Gravity Control, he wove a mass of scrap wire into a net and sent it flying toward the flesh, having already run an electric current through the wires.

The reason he didn’t just use his Gravity Chain to conduct the electricity was that he was afraid the chain would pull the "living flesh" right to him, leaving no ti to escape.

The wire net successfully caught the "living flesh." Su Ze began to increase the electrical output, preparing to barbecue it.

But it seed... the flesh showed no signs of being cooked. In fact, it began to pulsate even more violently, becoming more animated.

’Did it just get ’charged up’?’

Then, Su Ze watched as the flesh squeezed through the gaps in the wire net.

Su Ze imdiately dropped the wire net and turned to run toward Mr. Ya.

’Plan failed. Ti to run again!’

After taking two steps, a thought suddenly flashed through his mind.

’If this thing is tracking my aura or sothing similar, I happen to have a perfect substitute on . Maybe I can pull a Golden Cicada Shell?’

Without breaking stride, Su Ze reached for the Storage Pendant on his chest and pulled out a long bag.

RIP!

He tore open the bag, pulled out its contents, and threw them behind him.

Mr. Ya was stunned by Su Ze’s move, because... Su Ze had thrown out a headless corpse!

Moreover, for so reason, the corpse looked very familiar to him.

That’s right, it was Su Ze’s own corpse.

It was the part of his body below the neck, discarded after he had carried out his "decapitation plan."

He had originally planned to have it cremated but hadn’t gotten around to it, so he’d been carrying it with him.

Theoretically, this corpse had the sa aura as Su Ze—it was identical in every way, except that it wasn’t alive. The only question was whether it could fool the "living flesh."

After dropping the corpse, Su Ze didn’t stop running. But when he glanced back, he saw the "living flesh" burrowing into his forr body!

’It worked!’

’Sure enough, it’s easy to trick sothing with no brain!’

Su Ze didn’t dare to rashly approach his old body, not knowing what would happen after the "living flesh" invaded it.

He took out his phone, sent his current location to Liou Wenxin, and briefly explained the situation.

Liou Wenxin replied that she would bring people over as soon as possible.

After that, Su Ze and Mr. Ya began their "corpse watch."

Su Ze stared at the corpse without blinking, watching intently for any unusual movents. He was constantly worried that his old body would suddenly reanimate.

Ti passed, second by second. Although the corpse didn’t reanimate, it did undergo so changes.

So indescribable changes.

Before, the corpse looked like a body devoid of vital signs, but now it had a different feel to it, as if it had gained a touch of life.

It no longer looked like a corpse, but like a sleeping person... if you ignored the fact that it had no head.

In short, the corpse now gave Su Ze a very eerie feeling. His intuition told him it would be best to stay far away from it.

Mr. Ya was also getting anxious. He gripped Su Ze’s arm, ready to flee with him at a mont’s notice.

Every extra second they spent near the corpse added to their psychological stress.

Fortunately, Liou Wenxin didn’t keep them waiting long; she arrived within a few minutes.

With her was only Principal Zhou Wenshan, but at a ti like this, a single Saint-rank expert brought more security than an entire army.

As soon as they arrived, they both stared at the corpse on the ground with grave expressions.

On the way, Liou Wenxin had already given Zhou Wenshan a general rundown of the situation. Of course, she concealed the fact that Su Ze had the heart of a Defiler, using a different explanation, so Zhou Wenshan didn’t ask about the corpse’s origin.

Both of them were top-tier evolutionists. Seemingly having noticed sothing, they simultaneously used a Pupil Technique to scan the corpse on the ground.

After a long mont, they both stopped scanning at the sa ti.

Zhou Wenshan frowned. "It’s strange to say, but this corpse... it seems to have co alive."

Liou Wenxin also nodded. "That’s right. The corpse has beco active."

Su Ze wasn’t too surprised. He knew it had to be related to that "living flesh." It was a good thing the "living flesh" had entered a lifeless corpse; if it had entered his own body, there was no telling what state he’d be in now.

He asked about the situation at the man-made lake. Mr. Ya had been too busy helping him escape to know if the Dongli University teachers who rushed over later had managed to catch that bizarre female student.

He had a feeling, though, that an ordinary Butterfly Stage expert would probably be no match for that monstrous girl.

Liou Wenxin answered, "When Teacher Pei Wuhua and the others reached the man-made lake, they only found a corpse dressed in red. A preliminary identification suggests it’s the body of Teacher Huo Yuanzheng. However, they didn’t find any Crab Spawn Abomination, nor did they see the student couple you ntioned."

Principal Zhou Wenshan must have just returned to the university not long ago, as he wasn’t clear on so of the details yet. Liou Wenxin had simply pulled him along, saying they were going to save Su Ze.

He pressed, "What exactly happened? Su Ze, tell

everything from the beginning."

So, Su Ze recounted everything in detail, starting from when he and Mr. Ya rushed to the man-made lake, to the bizarre student couple he saw there, and finally to being hunted by the "living flesh."

At first, Zhou Wenshan’s expression was blank. But when he heard Su Ze describe how the female student punched the male student’s body apart, and that the male had no blood or internal organs, his face finally turned grave.

Especially when he heard about Su Ze being hunted by the "living flesh," he seed to finally confirm sothing. "I’m going to make a call," he said.

Zhou Wenshan didn’t go far. Su Ze could barely overhear parts of the conversation and could tell he was talking to Gu Chengguang. He ntioned a "Saint Emissary" and the "Evolution Divine Teachings."

"This strongly resembles the skill of a Legendary-rank expert." When Zhou Wenshan returned, he t the curious gazes of Su Ze and Liou Wenxin and finally revealed so information.

"A Legendary-rank expert!"

Su Ze and the others exclaid in unison. They knew that the "Legendary-rank expert" Zhou Wenshan ntioned referred to a Saint-rank Legendary who had evolved six tis!

It was said that the Legendary expert Lin Hua, who founded Lin Hua Country and unified the six nations, was at this level. This was currently the ceiling of power on the Lin Hua Continent.

And now, Zhou Wenshan was implying that the couple at the man-made lake was a Legendary-rank expert who had attacked Su Ze... Su Ze found that a bit absurd.

’If a Legendary-rank expert had truly attacked, how could I have possibly escaped?’

Zhou Wenshan said, "Of course, it wasn’t the Legendary expert themself who acted. But Su Ze’s description reminds

of a person from the legends. The male and female students you saw at the man-made lake were likely his avatars."

"He has nurous avatars, and a single one doesn’t necessarily possess that much power."

"Which Legendary expert has such a strange hobby, having their own avatars date each other?" Su Ze pressed.

"The Pope of the Evolution Divine Teachings!" Zhou Wenshan gave the answer.

"It’s actually him!"

Su Ze had never expected the Pope of the Evolution Divine Teachings to be a Legendary-rank expert. He had assud that at most, the Pope was a Supre-rank who had evolved five tis.

This would explain why Lin Hua Country still tolerated the Evolution Divine Teachings, even when they did outrageous things.

After all, Lin Hua Country’s current peak combat power was also at the Saint-rank Legendary level. And no matter how depraved the Evolution Divine Teachings were, they were at least on humanity’s side and contributed to the fight against the aberrations.

However, Su Ze still couldn’t quite understand why the Pope of the Evolution Divine Teachings would attack him, even if it was just with an avatar.

’What have I ever done to deserve the attention of a Saint-rank Legendary? And they clearly recognized , even calling out my na.’

’Even if I’ve had so run-ins with the Evolution Divine Teachings before, it shouldn’t have been enough to attract the attention of soone like that. Could it be...?’ Su Ze recalled his last visit to a Temple of Evolution, where the appearance of a phantom image behind him had cracked a statue of the God of Evolution.

’The Pope of the Evolution Divine Teachings might have noticed

because of that incident.’

’Although all the clergy in that Temple of Evolution were executed at the ti, who knows the thods of a Legendary-rank expert? Besides, there were a few worshipers in the temple that day. It’s not impossible that the news spread through them.’

Su Ze took a deep breath. ’What a truly eventful day!’

The things he’d encountered today were things most people wouldn’t experience in a lifeti.

He’d experienced getting decapitated, seen a bizarre Crab Spawn Abomination, and been hunted down by the avatar of a Legendary-rank expert, all in one day.
