After the party, the general attitude towards Felix in the pack was... more or less the sa. Nothing had changed, at least not right away.
Well, it was to be expected. After all, the ’fact’ that Felix was the mother of Kade’s firstborn pup had already spread in the pack over the past days, and so did the rumors that the Alpha was affectionate toward him. Everyone had known what the party had been for almost from the mont the preparations had started, so all that the event itself had achieved was confirming all the rumors, that’s all. It didn’t cause any dramatic shift in the pack’s dynamics.
And Felix was glad it didn’t. It would be annoying if the pack mbers started flocking to him, regardless of whether their intentions were good or not. Yes, he might have needed allies, but... He needed peace and quiet even more! So, when no one really ca to bother him much, he was happy with that.
Besides, he had other things on his mind. Precisely... The lingering jasmine fragrance in his bedroom. It was there when he ca back from breakfast, then when he returned in the evening after spending so ti in his pottery workshop, and when he woke up the next morning as well...
The scent was there, but no other trace of the fox could be seen anywhere.
...Was Felix truly losing his mind? Or was Remi regularly breaking into his room, subtly scenting it, and then going into hiding again?
But why would he do this? Was it perhaps a test of so sort? Was he trying to feel out Felix, to see if they could reconnect? Felix couldn’t tell...
Although he and Remi had been living together for a year, eating at the sa table, and sleeping in the sa bed (with Remi staying in his fox form almost all that ti, but still), Felix still knew hardly anything about the man. The more he thought about it, the more he realized how little he actually knew...
He even contacted Brielle to see if he might learn anything, but all that he had been able to find out was that the rmaid hadn’t seen Remi for over a week now, and that he had dropped a box with a fresh supply of potions and enchanted items she needed to conceal her identity and stay on land at her house, that’s all. It neither confird nor disproved the possibility that Remi might have sneaked into the Bloodmoon Pack. Dropping the box with supplies could suggest that he had left Silverfall, at least temporarily, but where he had gone and why, it was still unclear...
With no other clues or any way to investigate, all that Felix could do was to just wait and see what would happen.
Soon enough, he had other things to worry about anyway, as two days after the party, he was summoned to the pack leader’s office.
This on its own could be stressful enough. And to make matters worse, Kade, who personally ca to notify Felix that his presence was required and to take him to the office, seed rather nervous.
If even Kade was nervous, then it must have been sothing serious...
Felix, who had been smiling brightly just a mont ago, enjoying his ti playing with Vivi, instantly grew somber.
"What is it about?" he asked, picking Vivi up, as he stood up from the mat. He didn’t even bother putting the toys away - normally he would, but a little ss on the floor was the last of his concerns at the mont. It was his bedroom anyway, it’s not like there were people walking around, so there was no risk soone might trip or anything.
"Nothing too serious!" Kade said, trying to reassure Felix. But with his uneasy expression, it didn’t co off as convincing. "I think it’s better to explain everything to you in the office..."
Felix let out a heavy sigh, but he didn’t argue. They were heading there right away, so whether he heard what was going on now or a few minutes later, it didn’t really matter all that much.
Because of it all, he completely forgot about the jasmine scent. Only when he saw Kade furrow his brows as he sniffed the air, did he rember that the scent was still lingering...
"Let’s go, then," he quickly said, and rushed out of the room, practically dragging Kade with him. He tried not to let it show, but his heart was pounding loudly in his chest.
So the scent was real! Just now, Kade seed to have recognized it! Felix didn’t imagine his reaction, he was certain of it! Well, he had been pretty much convinced that he wasn’t imagining it as he could consistently sll jasmine, sotis more intense, sotis lighter, and always only in his room, but now he had so proof. Of course, he could be even more sure if he asked Kade about what he could sll...
But perhaps that should wait. Felix had no idea what he wanted to do about it yet, so unless Kade brought it up himself, he would stay silent. Not that Kade could do anything to Remi - Remi was the witch who had saved his father, after all, so he and the whole Bloodmoon Pack owed him a lot - but still.
Kade looked at Felix, as they walked (or, well, speed-walked, practically rushed) through the hallways, heading to the offices. The Oga acted odd ever since the party... And now he could finally understand why.
He didn’t say anything, though. He should have, as it concerned the security of the pack house... However, it was hardly the ti to discuss sothing that Felix was trying to hide, lest it might annoy the Oga. Which was sothing Kade couldn’t afford right now, because...
"We would like to contact the leader of the Moonhill Pack to discuss your situation soon," Einar Blackstone said as soon as Kade and Felix sat down in his office.
That’s right. The Bloodmoon Pack was planning to reach out to Jared Thorne, the very Alpha whom Felix hated.
