[We need to talk. Call when you have ti.]

Felix ssaged Kade the very next morning, right after picking up Vivi from Brielle.

Was he ready for that conversation? No, not really. But putting it off might only lead to an even bigger ss. Felix didn’t know how often Eden contacted Kade, as he hadn’t asked for any details regarding how Eden had spied on him. It wasn’t all that important in the grand scale of things, and at that mont, when he had learned the truth, he simply hadn’t wanted to listen to it any longer... But Eden’s mories were altered now, so if Kade reached out to him, he would quickly realize that sothing was wrong... And after that, things might spiral out of control.

Rather than allow that to happen, and deal with the cleanup afterwards, it was better to act preemptively. So, Felix contacted Kade first.

He had to wait a bit longer than usual for Kade to call him this ti. It seed that the Alpha was busy sotis, after all... It was only late in the evening that his phone finally rang.

"Hi! Did you miss ?" were the first words that left Kade’s mouth, as soon as Felix picked up the phone. He sounded cheerful as usual... But there was a hint of uncertainty hidden underneath.

As if he already knew that sothing was wrong.

Well, the way Felix had worded himself in the ssage he had sent early in the morning did sound serious. But his instincts told him that there was sothing more to it.

Could it be that...

"Did you try contacting your spy today?" he asked.

And Kade almost stamred in response. "W-what? What spy?"

"Eden, I an."

The other end of the line went silent, which only confird Felix’s suspicions.

Honestly, he should have suspected it. Probably after reading his earlier ssage, Kade tried contacting Eden to find out if anything happened from him, so that he would know how to handle things with Felix...

What a ss. It seed that Felix might have to send Remi to cast a spell on Eden again, as he was uncertain as to what effect the conversation he had had with Kade had on his mories and ntal state.

But first...

"I already know everything," he said, his voice surprisingly calm. It seed that he was starting to get used to handling situations like that. "Don’t bla him for that, though. He had no choice... We put him under a truth spell, so he couldn’t help but reveal everything."

"A truth spell," Kade mused. "But if you did that, then I assu he must have done sothing that raised your suspicion first."

That was... true, but it wasn’t the point.

"Either way, his mories are now altered, so I’m sorry, but you won’t be able to keep on using him as a spy!" Felix snapped, his words dripping with sarcasm.

Kade went silent for a while again. If it wasn’t for the sound of his quiet breathing still audible, Felix would have thought the call disconnected.

Which he was actually tempted to do. End the call, and not talk to Kade again... Or at least not any ti soon. However, there was still one thing left for him to do.

Just as he opened his mouth, though, about to speak up again, Kade beat him to it.

"He wasn’t a spy, not really," he said, his voice serious, and sowhat pleading. Without his usual theatrics, just an honest hope to explain himself to Felix. "I didn’t ask him to spy on you or anything. Just... To gather information about your likes and dislikes. And put a good word in for . And after you asked to withdraw the guards from Silverfall, to report to whether you were healthy and well. Let know if you were in any trouble. Since you probably wouldn’t have let know if you needed help yourself..."

Felix pressed his lips, thinking about it for a mont. If it had been just this, then it wouldn’t be so bad... Like asking a friend to play a matchmaker. Except that,

"You threatened him for it," Felix said, his voice growing colder with each word. "You found out that he was a rogue Oga who had run away from his pack, and threatened him with this information to help you out."

From Felix point of view... That was one of the worst things Kade could have possibly done. Felix himself was in a very similar situation, after all. Although unlike Eden, his pack didn’t want him dead... He still dreaded being found out. And for Eden, considering the circumstances of his escape, that must have been even more painful and terrifying...

"This..." Kade hesitated.

"What, is that wrong?" Felix scoffed. "He had told that under the truth spell, you know!"

Kade was unable to deny it. Even if he tried, the truth was already clear. At most, he could try saying sothing like ’it was a misunderstanding!’ or sothing, but it would only sound like a pathetic excuse at this point...

Seeing that the Alpha seed to have nothing left to say, Felix added, "So, if you have even a little bit of conscience left... Or, wait, no. If you ever want to hear from again, leave him alone."

Having said his piece, he was about to end the call...

But then, Kade suddenly spoke. "He didn’t tell you why he had left his pack in the first place, did he?"

...Huh? What was he trying to do now?

"He did," Felix cut him off.

"Really? Then what did he say?"

Felix hesitated for a mont. That wasn’t his secret to tell...

Then again, since Kade found out which pack Eden had been from, he must have already known. So, although Felix still didn’t understand why Kade was asking him about that now...

"His chosen mate left him for his fated mate. And the fated mate wanted to get rid of Eden..."

"Get rid of him? Is that what he had said?" Kade let out a cold chuckle. "Wasn’t it the other way around?"
