When Kaito received his gifts, he had so spare ti, so he made small talk with each person to a certain extent, and Life also chatted with him in a similar way.

At the ti, Kaito’s assumption was simply to explain to Eris that Life wished to interact more with Humans, and then introduce Life while being present himself.
However, what Kaito didn’t anticipate was that Life was unexpectedly quick to act. Seeing that Eris herself was present at the party, Life decided to directly approach her and initiate contact on her own.
That slight misalignnt in expectations would, quite ironically, end up causing Eris a considerable amount of stomachache.
