(5..4..3..2..1)

(Wave 5 Level 25 200/200)

As soon as the countdown finished, several howls sounded out from beyond the wall.

"Shit! Those are direwovles, be on your guard." Susan’s serious expression turned grave.

No more than 10 seconds after her warning, a black tide of snarling beasts leaped over the goblin bodies.

Jas did a quick count, 25 direwolves started running in all directions as they passed into the town. Only a few ca his way.

Two snapping jaws almost sunk teeth into his legs before he jumped back and slashed out with a swipe of his knife.

He cut through easily, but didn’t manage a one hit kill like he had done to the goblins. The direwolves had insane agility and very low constitution it seed.

Another monster joined the fray and made his fight a three on one. They were trying to encircle him as Jas would slash out, only for the wolves to just barely avoid his hit.

’Damn it! I don’t wanna do this, but I have no choice.’

Jas dumped his two free stat points into speed.

It made an imdiate difference as his knife cleanly ripped through the neck of one the beasts. It died quickly, but Jas didn’t have a mont to celebrate as 3 more surrounded him in a circle of growling fur.

He heard a yelp of pain behind him and glanced to see an arrow protruding from the skull of a beast that had crept way too close.

’Thank you Veronica!’ He shouted in his mind.

The four on one was easier now that his speed had increased and his strikes landed each ti he slashed.

Just as he had one left, a new tide of green goblins rushed over the mound at the breach.

His eyes went wide as he saw that there weren’t only goblins now. A new variant called a hobgoblin was intermixed in this horde.

Arrows and stones, flung from a weapon called a sling, flew through the air towards him as he killed the last direwolf.

Jas was surprised to see how much exp his 5 kills had given him.

’Makes sense, those things were no joke.’

His shoulder exploded in pain as an arrow connected, his legs ached from where a direwolf had managed to scratch him with its claws.

He dove behind a thick section of broken wall and clenched his teeth as he ripped out the arrow. He fumbled with a regeneration potion before finally gulping it down.

He sprang out from behind the cover as his wounds knit together. He dodged a couple more projectiles before he was too close for them to aim accurately.

The goblins were still like children in front of him, but the hobgoblins were a little tougher.

They were the opposite of the direwolves and seed to heavily rely on high strength and constitution.

It was just unfortunate for them that they were way too slow.

If felt as if Jas was in a hurricane of blood as he dashed through the horde, his knife never stopped cutting flesh for more than a second at a ti.

The wave was down to stragglers now and he watched as Susan challenged a hobgoblin to a contest of strength.

Their fists collided and a sickening ss of crushed at flew off the hobgoblins arm. Her other hand ca up swiftly and punched a hole through its chest.

’Holy shit.. let’s make a note to not ever piss her off..’

Jas killed 3 more goblins and reveled in the flood of exp he gained. The level 25 goblins were worth a whopping 100 exp each! The hobgoblins were only half as much as the direwolves had been, but Jas had killed 9 of those.

Justine flicked her sword out and claid the last kill.

’10 minutes? If it keeps doubling, the last wave will take a almost an hour and a half.. that’s a little much.’

He put his concerns aside as he realized in joy he would definitely level again next wave.

His joy was shortly crushed by Justine and Susan.

"Prince Jas.. you should hang back these last few waves, it’s going to get even harder from here on out."

"I agree master, you can swap places with Emily and protect the civilians."

"But I was fine! Co on, let just stay here-"

"Prince Jas! I cannot allow you to be in harms way any longer. I saw you struggling with the direwolves and take an arrow to the shoulder. Go swap with Emily or I’ll ask Justine to cancel our raid."

Jas wanted to argue back, but he knew it to be the truth.

He hung his head and nodded.

He jogged through the town and grumpily told Emily the news.

It had taken him a few minutes to find her because she had hidden everyone quite well. He only recognized the safe house for what it was when Emily called out to him from a shadowed perch in a window.

The civilians had been hidden underground through the cellar of the biggest building in town, a church to Myen’tal.

Jas watched the countdown a little bitterly as he waited on the street, close to the cellars entrance.

(Wave 6 Level 30 200/200)

’She could’ve let get a couple more kills...’

His inward grumbling was cut off as a two guttural roars echoed from outside the wall. Jas was confused for a mont because this sound hadn’t co from the side with the breach.

Then a hard thudding noise vibrated the ground he stood on and the sound of cracking stone wasn’t far behind.

His confusion cleared as he saw a gigantic green foot kick straight through the wall near him. Stone blocks flew like they had been flung from a catapult.

Jas panicked as two level 35 ogres tore down the wall, Veronica was shouting and gesticulating wildly from the rooftop she perched on.

He was frozen in terror as he rembered his last encounter with an ogre. He had to slap himself to focus.

’I killed an ogre already! And it was a champion, let’s fucking do this!’

Veronica’s movents got even more expressive as Jas ran towards the ogres.

He turned on his cheat skill and smiled.

His smile faltered when the ogres didn’t fall down imdiately to prostrate themselves and instead kicked a large chunk of broken wall at him.

Thankfully the aim went wide as he closed the distance to about 50 paces. He breathed a sigh of relief when the ogres finally did as expected.

’I guess I should’ve realized by now that a skill with the word scent in it has a limited radius..’

Jas walked up to the ogres cautiously.

As fast as he could manage, he plunged his dagger into one neck and ripped it outward.

He jumped back in case it attacked. Jas wasn’t certain, but he guessed that [Entoxicating Scent] could fail if enough pain shook the target out of the hypnosis, or whatever it was.

He smiled when he recieved new notifications.

’That wasn’t as much as I’d thought it’d be.. but 15k for two kills is still pretty good.’

He walked over to the other ogre and repeated the process.

’At least my stats look good again.. damn direwolves.’

Jas looked over his character sheet while footsteps approached him from behind.

Turning to find an angry Veronica, Jas gave a winning smile.

Her anger turned into sothing... different as he watched. Her face grew red and she dropped to a knee.

Jas hurriedly turned off his skill when he realized what was happening.

She looked up at him a daze and then looked around confusedly as if she didn’t rember why she had been there.

When she saw the ogres, her eyes blazed.

"What were you thinking! What would have-"

"I knew what I was doing. C’mon Veronica, look at , I’m completely fine."

She balled her fists up and stomped like a little girl throwing a tantrum. It would’ve been cute if her masssive legs didn’t jiggle so provocatively.

"B-but-"

Jas cut her off again as he dashed forward and planted a kiss on her mouth. His hands found her enormous ass and fondled it as he kissed her deeply.

When he pulled back, Veronica turned and stated walking away hunched over.

Her voice was small as she retreated.

"That’s not playing fairly.."

Jas was very pleased with himself as notifications appeared in his vision.
