...

That day in Han Jingnian’s office, just before leaving, Granny Han told Han Jingnian to bring Xia Wanwan back to the old mansion for a al when he had ti.

Han Jingnian answered, "I know, Grandma."

Xia Wan’an thought that Granny Han was just being polite and that Han Jingnian was just placating her with his response, not taking it seriously. However, she never expected that Han Jingnian, a man of action, would actually bring up going back to the old mansion for dinner the very next day.

Han Jingnian and Granny Han had scheduled dinner for Thursday evening. Xia Wan’an wasn’t working, and her schedule was flexible, whereas Han Jingnian t with a client on Thursday afternoon. On his way ho to pick her up, there was a slight traffic jam, causing them to reach the old mansion only at 6:30 p.m.

Dinner at the old mansion was already prepared, waiting for their arrival. As soon as they reached, after exchanging brief pleasantries, they directly started the al.

Perhaps because Xia Wan’an appeared as Xia Wanwan, Han Zhijin seed a bit sullen, with pitifully few words.

Lu Yangui was much the sa as always, maintaining a very proper and graceful smile, speaking only when necessary, and even then, her tone was gentle and soothing.

As always, few words were not worth ntioning. Granny Han and "Xia Wanwan," though they had t before, were not close, and their conversation was filled with nothing but pleasantries.

Yet, even so, the entire al was not awkward; on the contrary, the atmosphere was sowhat harmonious.

Today’s Xia Wan’an was no longer the Xia Wan’an of the past, nor was she the granddaughter-in-law of the Han Family. Therefore, after dinner, she and Han Jingnian did not stay long and said their goodbyes.

However, before leaving, the usually reticent Lu Yangui, carrying a tray of desserts from the kitchen, ca out and said, "Jingnian, Miss Xia, why don’t you have so dessert before you go?"

"Yes, yes, Yangui has prepared it for so long; still, eat before you go," Granny Han echoed from the side.

Han Jingnian turned his head to look at Xia Wan’an beside him. Seeing the expectant look in Granny Han’s eyes, Xia Wan’an finally compromised, nodded slightly at Han Jingnian, and then Han Jingnian responded, "Alright."

Seeing Han Jingnian agree, Lu Yangui imdiately placed the desserts from the tray in front of everyone. As she served Han Jingnian, Lu Yangui said warmly, "Jingnian, I know you don’t like sweets much, so I put less honey in yours."

"Thank you, sister-in-law," Han Jingnian replied quietly.

During the dessert course, Lu Yangui kept glancing at Han Jingnian unintentionally or intentionally. She knew Han Jingnian’s taste well since she had watched him grow up, and the desserts were tailored to his taste. Just as she expected, though Han Jingnian didn’t much like sweets, he nearly finished the small bowl she served him.

As everyone’s desserts were nearly finished, Han Zhijin’s phone suddenly rang.

He glanced at the caller ID, didn’t answer, and just hung up.

He hurriedly stuffed a couple of bites of his dessert into his mouth, then dropped his spoon, left a ssage saying "I’m going out to make a call," and got up and left the villa.

He walked a long distance towards the backyard before pulling out his phone and returning the call, "Uncle Xie, how is it going?"
