Lu Yangui subconsciously halted her steps into the house, then stood at the doorway for a mont, before retreating back to the front entrance, eyeing the abandoned little mailbox.

She stared at the mailbox, hesitant for quite so ti, but eventually, she took a step forward.

Outside the small mailbox hung a rusty padlock, which Lu Yangui removed easily, pulling open the mailbox’s worn iron door and instantly spotting a white plastic bag inside.

Lu Yangui watched the plastic bag, pursing her lips. Then, after glancing around to make sure there was no one in sight, she quickly snatched the bag into her palm and closed the mailbox’s iron door before heading back to the Han Family’s old mansion.

Upon re-entering the house, Nanny Zhang was no longer in the living room. Only Mrs. Han sat on the sofa watching TV. As Lu Yangui changed her shoes, she called out, "Grandma."

"Yangui is back," Mrs. Han cheerfully looked towards Lu Yangui, her face brimming with barely concealable joy, perhaps due to Han Jingnian bringing Xia Wanwan over for dinner the next night. "Go wash your hands, dinner is ready. Call Zhijin down to eat as well."

"I got it, Grandma," Lu Yangui replied warmly to Mrs. Han, then went upstairs.

After entering her bedroom, Lu Yangui put down her bag and took out the white plastic bag from her pocket. Wrapped tightly, she unwrapped several layers before seeing the small bottle ntioned by the unknown caller from last night.

She unscrewed the cap, glancing at the odorless white powder inside.

Just then, the bedroom door suddenly swung open. Han Zhijin, in a pink set of pajamas, poked her head in, "Mom, it’s ti to eat."

Startled, Lu Yangui’s hand shook, and the white powder scattered, a small amount spilling onto the floor. Unaware of these details, she quickly screwed the cap back on and hid the small bottle in her sleeve, "Okay, I’ll go wash my hands and be right there."

Han Zhijin, seemingly oblivious to everything, obediently uttered an "Okay" to Lu Yangui and turned to go downstairs.

Lu Yangui let out a sigh of relief and didn’t dare dawdle; she went straight into the bathroom.

However, as soon as her figure disappeared behind the bathroom door, Han Zhijin tiptoed back into her mother’s bedroom. She swiftly picked up a paper towel and dabbed up the scattered powder on the floor then, as if she had never been there, quickly left her mother’s bedroom.

During dinner, Lu Yangui received a text ssage on her phone. Han Zhijin glanced subconsciously at his mother and saw her complexion shift ever so slightly upon reading it.

He furrowed his brows, staring at Lu Yangui’s phone, then bowed his head and continued eating silently.

The next day, Thursday, Han Zhijin had a eting in the morning, but he was noticeably distracted. As soon as the eting ended and he returned to his office, he took out the paper towel he had used the previous night to wipe the white powder from the floor of his mother’s room.

He unwrapped the balled-up paper towel, studying the faintly visible white powder inside for a while before finally pulling out his phone and dialing Xie Lin’s number.
