It was her... it was her all along... She had intended to put both her and He Che in mortal danger!
No wonder, when she left the scene, she glanced at Xia Wan’an. That look had unsettled Xia Wan’an ever since, as it carried the intention of taking her and He Che down with her.
So, in the end, was it she who dragged Han Jingnian into this ss? If she hadn’t pushed Ai Jiang into a corner, Ai Jiang wouldn’t have resorted to such a desperate move... If anything happened to Han Jingnian, she would never, ever forgive herself!
Xia Wan’an didn’t return to Chen Cang’s car, instead, she followed the ambulance to the hospital.
Upon arrival, Han Jingnian was imdiately rushed into the ergency room, while Xia Wan’an was stopped by a nurse, handed a stack of dical records and prescriptions, and instructed to handle hospital admission and surgery procedures.
Xia Wan’an had no mind to listen to what the nurse was saying. Her thoughts were all on Han Jingnian. Fortunately, He Che and Chen Cang arrived in ti, with Chen Cang taking over the various forms from the nurse’s hand, helping to handle the procedures.
Xia Wan’an stayed by the ergency room door, unable to sit still. She stood up and began pacing back and forth restlessly.
Worried about her well-being, He Che, after Chen Cang completed the hospital admission, told her to buy so food and drinks. He called out to Xia Wan’an many tis, urging her to eat or drink sothing, but she paid him no mind. She kept walking the sa line, back and forth, back and forth.
Xia Wan’an occasionally glanced at the ti – half an hour passed, then an hour, then two... until nearly midnight, the display above the ergency room still scrolled with three red characters: "In Surgery..."
Two and a half hours had gone by. Why hadn’t the doors of the operating room opened? Why was there no news from Han Jingnian...
Xia Wan’an dared not let her thoughts wander, but even as she tried not to, she grew more and more anxious.
At 12:10, He Che’s phone suddenly rang. It was a call from the traffic police, who had organized so of Han Jingnian’s important belongings in the car, asking him to co and pick them up.
After hanging up, He Che relayed the situation to Xia Wan’an and then asked Chen Cang to watch over her before taking Chen Cang’s car keys and leaving.
In less than twenty minutes, He Che returned with Han Jingnian’s wallet and phone, which he handed to Xia Wan’an.
Xia Wan’an gripped the wallet and phone tightly in her palm. While checking the ti yet again, she accidentally awakened the screen of Han Jingnian’s phone and saw his screensaver – a photo of her. The photo was one he had taken when she was trying on a wedding dress at a bridal shop for his friend.
She stared at the phone screen for a long while and then, as if possessed, tapped the unlock screen and entered Han Jingnian’s password. Just like that, as she had done in the past, she easily unlocked his phone.
The reason she knew his phone password was because of a small episode. She was watching a short video where the person in the video said that true love is daring to let your significant other know your phone’s password. At the ti, Han Jingnian was sitting beside her dealing with work. Hearing that statent, he looked up at her, then quickly went back to signing docunts while murmuring six digits.
Who would have thought... after all this ti, his password had not changed...
Xia Wan’an was stunned for a mont. Just as she was about to lock Han Jingnian’s phone, she caught a glimpse of the screen’s contents.
It was a text ssage screen, with the recipient’s na saved as her na: "Wan’an."
In the ssage edit box, there was a short piece of text.
"I had intended to wholeheartedly love everything in this world once you had completely vanished, but even after you were gone for so long, I found no love for anything else."
"I’ve waited for you for so long, why haven’t you co back? If there’s no more chance to wait for you after this, then rember these words: ’Gone with the ti, goodnight, goodnight...’ The first ’goodnight’ is for you, and the second ’goodnight’ is a ’late’ for the world, with ’peace’ being for you..."
