Xia Wan’an’s seemingly casual question brought a sudden stiffness to Han Jingnian’s body.
Why would she suddenly ask him this question out of the blue?
Han Jingnian carefully observed Xia Wan’an for a bit, confirming that she didn’t appear to know sothing, and it seed more like just idle chatter. Only then did he answer, clearly distasteful, "I don’t like."
A while later, Han Jingnian added, "What’s there to like about kids? They’re a burden, unnecessary, a hassle..."
Speaking of this, Han Jingnian recalled Xia Wan’an showing such concern for Han Zhijin at the old house earlier, and he didn’t hesitate to blurt out the embarrassing past of Han Zhijin, "Just like Han Zhijin, when he was two years old, he couldn’t even calculate what three plus five equals to. He was so dumb. Every ti he had howork, he’d ask how to do it. Whenever I’d say ’figure it out yourself,’ he would cry. He’s so foolish. When he was one and a half, he was still unable to speak, like a piece of wood..."
Hearing Han Jingnian using words like "dumb," "foolish," and "wooden" to describe Han Zhijin, Xia Wan’an couldn’t help but hide a chuckle in her lips. Then, she silently comnted in her heart: I can tell by your look, you truly are his blood-related uncle.
Xia Wan’an thought Han Jingnian didn’t understand what she ant, so after a short pause, she clarified, "I’m not talking about other people’s children... I an your own... Don’t you want a child of your own?"
"No." Han Jingnian replied to Xia Wan’an’s query almost instantly.
He paused for a mont, looking at Xia Wan’an, "Why would you suddenly ask that?"
Could she have found out sothing?
The hand that Han Jingnian had on the steering wheel unconsciously tightened its grip.
Xia Wan’an responded with a soft "oh." Then, she raised her hand, casually pointing towards the rear of the car, "I just saw a couple walking past with twins, and the twins looked really cute, so I thought I’d ask."
Han Jingnian grunted in agreent. The tension in his back gradually eased.
Xia Wan’an stayed silent. Aware that Han Jingnian was covertly watching her, she made herself seem relaxed, even letting a small smile shape the corners of her lips as she gazed out the window.
Seeing Xia Wan’an acting like this, Han Jingnian’s anxious heart finally settled.
It seed he jumped to conclusions too quickly. She just ntioned it out of the blue...
...
At Han Family Enterprise on Tuesday (just like the day before), everyone’s attention was still fixated on Xia Wan’an.
There hadn’t been any brouhaha from Xia Wan’an the entire morning. Just as everyone figured she wasn’t planning on resolving the spokesperson issue, soone saw her having lunch with a female celebrity at a nearby café.
The celebrity’s photograph quickly made rounds on every employee’s cell phone.
"Who’s this celebrity? Why I have never heard of her?"
"I can’t recall either... Surely, Director Xia is not considering so obscure female star to represent our product?"
"Oh oh oh, I know who she is, she’s from that blockbuster so ti ago, "Ti and You Are Both Beautiful." She played the third female lead, Chen Wenwen. She’s only been in that movie, she’s not just any low-profile star, she’s practically an 18th tier celebrity..."
