"Hmm?" Han Jingnian opened his eyes, eting Xia Wan’an’s gaze.

Xia Wan’an returned his gaze for several seconds before she moved her lips: "Actually...."

She had only uttered two words before she stopped again, nervously gripping the quilt. She hesitated for a while before finally saying, "...the night He Che ca to Hong Kong, Youman, she, she ...."

She was still a bit nervous, a bit apprehensive, sowhat lacking in confidence.

Youman had defended her in front of everyone, but she was also trying to protect her perception in Han Jingnian’s heart. She understood Youman’s well-intentioned effort, but she was also afraid that he’d misunderstand once she told him the truth. Rembering his initial actions when things had happened, she felt it was wrong to deceive him to chance it.

Xia Wan’an gritted her teeth and finally blurted out everything: "Youman, she actually wasn’t in Hong Kong."

"Youman wanted to go to Hong Kong with on a business trip, but sothing ca up that prevented her from going,"

Han Jingnian had remained silent throughout; sweat was forming on Xia Wan’an’s anxious palms.

She felt her heart harrowingly race then slow, rise and fall. Despite her stressful state, she tried to stabilize her emotions and continued: "He Che ca because he was asked by soone close enough to to be family. The reason I let He Che enter my room was because I had hurt my ankle and needed him to help get so hot water. He stayed in my room for under ten minutes before he left..."

After completing those words, Xia Wan’an didn’t dare breathe, her heart seed to stop beating as well.

In reality, Xia Wan’an wasn’t sure how much ti had elapsed after her words had ended. It felt too long, long enough that she thought the good impression she had worked so hard to cultivate with Han Jingnian was about to be completely destroyed. That’s when Han Jingnian finally said, "I know."

I know?

Xia Wan’an looked at Han Jingnian, perplexed.

"I knew when I checked the hotel’s surveillance at night..." Han Jingnian briefly and simply explained as he t her questionable gaze.

So, does this an he knew all along that He Che was in her room when Song Youman was not, and that everything Song Youman had said was ant to cover for her?

Xia Wan’an was astonished and asked, "Why didn’t you ask ?"

Does it not matter to you? Do you not care? Is it not important?

As these three questions ran through Xia Wan’an’s mind, Han Jingnian responded lightly: "I trust you."

I trust you...not that it doesn’t matter, not that he doesn’t care, not that it’s not important, but...I trust you.

Xia Wan’an was taken aback for a mont before asking incredulously, "Why?"

"Because, I...." Han Jingnian’s voice suddenly trailed off.

Xia Wan’an stared at him intently, waiting for him to continue. When he remained silent, she urged, "What?"

"Nothing," Han Jingnian uttered calmly, but a subtle shade of red tinged his ears.

There was clearly sothing... Xia Wan’an thought to herself, observing Han Jingnian closely with dark eyes.

Her gaze made him feel suddenly uneasy but he pretended to be calm, laying nonchalantly on the bed for a mont before suddenly turning over and pinning her beneath him: "Can’t sleep? Then let’s settle the debt..."
